I ordered 1 H81 mb with 6x rx 480
so can you please explain how you connected the evga G2 molex to the raisers?
are you connecting the molex which is in series to the usb raisers direct!!
If yes then I only see 5 molex (on two cables 3x1 & 2x1) while you need 6, or you use one sata as the 6th!!!
any help would be appreciated.

Still waiting any experienced answer pls!!!

I tried to reproduce your issue with the Gaming 5.And I found out when the mobo is just showing up 5 pcie.
It happens when you set the PCI Clock higher than 32 Cycles. If you set it back to 32 all cards will show up.

The msi gaming "7 GPU" boards only work with 6 unless you use a 16x - 16x riser for the first 16x slot. Hopefully someone can figure out a better way soon.

I have 7 going with 4 470s, 1 370, 1 380 and 1 1070.

Actually work flawlessly with 7 RX 470 cards on 1x16 risers, i have two such rigs working for two months. Just set all PCI to Gen 1, Disable onboard Video and Audio, and make sure u arent using the mPCI slot for SSD as that disables the last two slots.

Try this: clear the CMOS by shorting the pins on the MOBO while turned off.  Then use one single GPU to test every slot, then connect one by one progressively, with restarts in between.

That is how I have got that mobo to work with 6, but I have never got it to work with 7 gpu, maybe because I am using windows 8.1

I would really love if someone could help me with another issue you might encounter in the future.

For some reason, after a couple of hours mining perfectly, one gpu drops its mem clock from whatever stock setting it is to 300, which causes that gpu to mine a 1/5 % of the speed, usually around 47 sols/s (amd 470 4 gb modded). so I am constantly having to reinstall drivers, patch, etc, to get it work normally again, since simple restarts do not solve the problem.

this might help :
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.16591718

i know from my personal experience , some msi z77 board need shorting to get all pcie work , im not sure about z97..
Some motherboard don't need presence shorting at all. Some need only 1 or 2 slots shorted, Some need all of them shorted. First You will only need to short the slots that have the detection problems though

You might try to disable audio card, etc anything you not need in bios... but having more then 5+ cards is asking for problems

Iam not using any custom audio card, just onboard audio, must i disable it too, in bios ?

I don`t know, might free some mobo resources, so try it

also it might have to do also with rx 4xx, some ppl reported older card worked fine 7-8 per mainboard but not rx 4xx
