thanks HCP, have already exported the keys and have had a crack using those. might just have to wait it out a bit longer and see if Exodus come up with some advice from their end.

thanks for the detailed explanation HCP
with regard to security of the private key, do you know if there is any way to get the compressed WIF key from the source wallet rather than through a third party site like bitaddress?
To be honest, I'm not even sure you need to worry about converting from "uncompressed" to "compressed" or not... but you can simply export the private keys in Exodus itself and it SHOULD give you the correct key... otherwise, Exodus is broken and should be fixed...

In Windows you use "Ctrl+Shift+D" to show the hidden "developer" menu... then: "Exodus" -> "Developer" -> "Assets" -> "Bitcoin" -> "Export Private Keys"

When I tried it just now, it gave me the address, derivation path and compressed key:

He is talking about on www.bitaddress.org - It shows you both "WIF" and "WIF Compressed" keys... You need to work out which BTC Address you have... and use the matching WIF key...

For example... goto https://www.bitaddress.org, click the "Wallet Details" tab and enter "L1o37HSiJJ5W3M6fVHL9Wtucpesp96n26KZTtnkwau2NTLMF6fda" as the private key.

You'll get the following down the Left hand side of the Page:

Bitcoin Address - 1GeZT6WfC4iy5gqjzKCAT152vYZKKEP8HQ
Private Key WIF - 5JrQ8mWPVqjFjfzUJHPTrNGzxf2zohH6ESW76PbstBRnC4ZV4GS

and the following down the right hand side of the page:

Bitcoin Address Compressed - 1FaGfCTBfNGN9y58owBbsVJQJGbwzJArM1
Private Key WIF Compressed - L1o37HSiJJ5W3M6fVHL9Wtucpesp96n26KZTtnkwau2NTLMF6fda

So, if the address you want to sweep is 1GeZT6WfC4iy5gqjzKCAT152vYZKKEP8HQ, you need the "Private Key WIF" and to scan the Private Key QRcode on the left... but if the address you want to sweep is 1FaGfCTBfNGN9y58owBbsVJQJGbwzJArM1, you need the "Private Key WIF Compressed" and you need to scan the Private Key QRcode on the right.

Oh man.... I had mine BTC on Mycelium at the time the Bicoin gold split, I now tried to use COINOMI android wallet but it didn't work. I first tried to just restore my bip39 mnemonic seed I had in mycelium and then adda new coin (bitcoin gold) with the special derivation path M/44H/0H/0H ...no BTG...

Then I tried after reinstall of coinomi to just open a new wallet, then added the bitcoingold coin without adjusting the derivation path, and then trying to sweep the private key, the thing is though I don't know my private key to addresses  addresses that held my BTC (which I moved before hand of course, with two transaction but that shouldnt matter no? I bought a ledger and then sent the remaining btc to another new wallet in electrum).... so I don't know what to sweep..

I just want to sell the BTG, they should be there :/

EDIT: when importing my BIP39 12 word mnemonic seed from Mycelium into coinomi (after fresh install > restore wallet) I also inputed my BIP39 passphrase from mycelium and that is why it didnt work.

follow this guide (don't forget step 0) exactly and it will work.

So I explain.

I had my bitcoins on exodus wallet on my MAC before the fork, but since exodus is not supporting the fork and BTG, I decided to transfer my BTC to my ledger nano S wallet.

The fork was supposed to happen on the 25/10 on bloc 491407, so the 24/10 at 2:34PM I transferred my BTC from Exodus wallet to my ledger nano S.

The problem is that the transaction took place on bloc 491 494, after the snapshot and the fork which come earlier that expected!!

So to get back my bitcoin gold, I had to export my private key from exodus, and import it into coinomi for example , following this thread: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/63088/claiming-my-btg-from-my-btc-private-key

But when I follow the steps, and I sweep my wallet in coinomi, I got the following message "The private key does not contain any funds".

So I went there (https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin%20gold/ ) and entered the public key of my BTC wallet in exodus, and I can see the amount that I earn.

Do you know why coinomi is telling me that my private key does not contain any fund?

Is there anyone who can help me getting back my BTG?

Thanks a lot for your help!
