I'd swear I saw a post somewhere that pushed the rate down to 400GH and ran even cooler, and with better efficiency. The Monarch really appears to have been more like a 450-500GH miner, which came pre-overclocked to try and save face for BFL. The whole PCI form factor, which then forced liquid cooling, were major failures along the way (IMHO).

With the proper settings / codes, I can get it down to 40GH/s .  Cheesy

I prefer 500GH/s though as it still earns some BTC and runs cool.

UPDATE **

With the help of 'Lightfoot' I got it working with Putty.

Then I found a very easy way to manage the settings through a batch file :

I found a way to automate the commands via command line directly.
No need to do it every time through putty using the buffer 'trick'.
Much easier this way.
Make a batch (.BAT) file and paste this in there for example :
I'm running at 510GH/s @ 370Watts (far from the 0.54 they claimed, but much, MUCH cooler now).

Put this in the batch file :
set /p x="F0D" \\.\COM3
set /p x="V4X" \\.\COM3

That's it.
You can pass any commands you want via this batch file now, but putting it into the x="xxxxx" field.

Hope this helps anyone else looking to lower their Monarch's temps.

How'd I get taken? I got one to play with cheap.

Oh,I assumed you ordered it from BFL & waited a year or more, glad you weren't taken for THE ride  Cheesy

Nah, got a good price on one so I got it to play with. At stock speeds(720GH/s per pool stats) it runs way too hot IMO though.

Lightfoot is quite knowledgeable with these and will be able to help you.

Underclocked, these things get 0.5kwh per GH.  Still very easily profitable.

Anyone have done this?

I just got one to play with and feel they just run way hotter than is safe for them.

I have searched everywhere for underclocking instructions, but nothing helpful .
Even thir manual states about underclocking, but the commands they give does not work in the easyminer software.

I have the 700GH/s Unit.

Thanks hive mind.  Wink

I haven't messed with anything from BFL in a while... from what I remember easyminer was basically just a fancy GUI for BFGminer.

Edit:

There is a guide under their driver section that has some info, have no idea how recent it is and I don't want to link it.
