I have had a problem with LBTC, my account has been locked for two years, I have passed all the verification tests and even settled all disputes with all but one seller who seems to know that. He has kept asking for more and more funds to help unlock my account even that I send it off-site.

I reached an agreement with him and even offered to pay twice the amount of the transaction from my LBTC balance but when I instruct the site to pay him they Send Me this Message

How can one force LBTC to pay him and let me access my account and withdraw my BTC, I really have hated their support and I don't want to trade with them again. I also think they want to Keep the 0.2BTC balance I have in an account with them, is it legal for them to do so as they offer no justification.

You shouldn't ever entrust someone to unlock your wallet just because they know or they claim to know it. You should just learn to do it yourself and never entrust everything just because some people claim they can or it is their service. Also, LBTC doesn't control the actions of its traders, they only get their information and can be used once a buyer reported a trader, if and only if the trader and the id itself is legitimate (flaw of some KYC that can be fooled). Lastly, LocalBitcoins already has that kind of issues back then, and it was always a constant negative review compared to the 'positive' ones.

You should move this to Reputation board, as this provides a user experience against the reputation of Local Bitcoins. Thank you!

I believe in case of such disputes there is usually a moderator or support staff person who gets in between and tries to solve the situation, right? Just show that support person how the other trader is trying to extort money from you to get your account unlocked and to close dispute.

I understand that sometimes money cannot be deducted from your wallet but that should mean you should be allowed to withdraw and pay him. I don't know if you scammed someone or what because usually these things don't happen on such platforms.

How much is the amount involved in that trade and how much is your total balance? I am asking because the amount locked in that trade is justified to be locked but they MUST allow you to withdraw your remaining funds. Maybe try to reach them via twitter, but hey man if you are the the one wrong, then don't even try doing this all. I hope you get your funds back if you are legit.

I Have no idea how to do that and my account was flagged because of two trades which I settled one before they shut me down completely luckily I have contact info with the seller and we could communicate off their site
What LBC want then to unlock your account?
They ask to provide the seller KYC? It's seems weird to me since it's not your fault.

I think it's better if you explain it more briefly about your case.

You should never send any money to the person off site because it is impossible to prove that you settled the disputes unless the person willingly accepts it. Two years seems to be a huge time and if your account flagged due to dispute with a trader then it could be resolved in days. I guess your account was frozen due to Money laundering or auch kind of stuffs I guess.

LBC support is slow but they are quite responsible between resolving the disputes which I experienced personally so you should asked the reason for holding funds as first query.

I do not use localbitcoins but such peer to peer platforms act as intermediary between traders and your verification should not depend on third parties, especially if you have satisfied all the requirements to unlock your account. Have your account had issues before now or has it been flagged before?

I also think they want to Keep the 0.2BTC balance I have in an account with them, is it legal for them to do so as they offer no justification.
If you've reached all the requirements, your account should not be limited with no valid reason.
You could open a scam accusation thread with well detailed information about your case. Social media can also be a used to draw attention to your case.

Thank you for contacting us.

Is not possible for LocalBitcoins to deduct the amount from your wallet, the refund must be done externally.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Best regards,
LocalBitcoins

This seller is flaky and comes online like once a month am afraid he will just keep doing this
