you can get a used mac mini cheap and load it with linux.  it will be better then the rasp pi and it is not very power hungry.

of look into a intel nuc. a rasp pi is pretty limited.  you can run one or two of sidehacks newpac sticks.

60w will get you a few usb miners not that many however. The pi will take about 5w but it depends. Look into raspbian or one of the premade mining OS's for pi's you might need to check the alt mining section as most of those have gone over there as usb miners aren't really a thing anymore with BTC.

Learning the software is something you will want to do so don't have someone else do it for you. It's also very easy to use, compiling is a bit harder but if you know some linux and have google skills you shouldn't have a problem.

hiya all, not sure if this is the right section to ask, I want to start home mining with some sort of wind/solar setup, I want to start small as I dont really understand what I need and want to minimise fire risk.

I want a setup that I can add too, so I am thinking of a small 40w wind turbine (just screws on to a shed roof) and a small 20w solar panel, connected through some sort of relay/monitoring panel, hooked up to a long life deep cycle battery and having a ras pi, and some usb miners?

I am not looking to get into serious hashing power, I just want to play with it, I live in the UK, and have a shed wanting some use lol, can someone suggest a small setup like this, and what I need please.

would also like to source someone to setup and sell me a rasberry pi pre loaded with something easy to use, but I will ask on selling/buying section when i have the rest of it set up.

thanks.
