they test it for powerloss during usage. it is robust enough to recover from that as you've found out.

btw how did you manage to disconnect the hard drive of a running system? did you like open up the case and physically remove the sata cable?

well, yeah it seems everything is back thankfully and I did a new backup too. Well, it was an external USB 3 hard drive, soooooo that's how...  Smiley

thanks, meanwhile the transaction is still with the ?... mmhmh I will give it some more time, odd though. i did set the "20 minutes" option.
Recommended fees are an estimate based on fees in the past. Most of the time it's enough.
If the number of transactions suddenly goes up, your transaction fee is too low and will confirm once there's more space available. Your transaction took 3.5 hours to confirm.

good good, phew! one last thing, i remember there was a menu where you can see the wallet inputs, as in in and outs, where is it on this version if you know?
Go to: Settings -> Options -> Wallet -> Check "Enable coin control features";

Then, you will see the Coin Control options in the "Send" tab.

All seems well!

It's at least in Bitmain's mempool so it should get confirmed shortly.

Now, i have a backup of the wallet, although it was from from 1 or 2 transactions back, before i sent this very last one of about 30 minutes ago.

What is the best thing to do or did i really lose most of my coins?
0. Close off Bitcoin Core
1. Rename (never delete!) your wallet.dat to wallet.dat.backup
2. Copy (keep your backup!) the backup wallet.dat to your Bitcoin Core directory
3. Start Bitcoin Core

thanks bro, actually as I was reading your reply, I checked bitcoin core and the balance is restored as it should be and last transaction is "Status: 0/unconfirmed, in memory pool". - haven't done anything -

am I safe you think?

thanks,
Gabrio

Yes probably, just let it catch up with the blockchain. Is it resyncing now? Was the transaction vonfirmed before, can you post the txid if you're not sure?

well it seems is doing its thing, the transaction wasn't confirmed, it had the "?" when i unplugged the drive, earlier it said "not in memory pool" now it updated with "Status: 0/unconfirmed, in memory pool"

hi there,

Bit of emergency..... I just finished syncing the blockchain just earlier, sent a transaction to an address, was waiting to have the usual confirmations, all normal, then all of a sudden by mistake I unplugged the hard drive (no comments please, my mistake), then bitcoin core said "database error" obviously...

on reconnect of the hard disk, I ran bitcoin core again, it worked, it was 6 hours behind for some reason, it synced, HOWEVER the balance of the wallet is not right! Quite bad.

Now, i have a backup of the wallet, although it was from from 1 or 2 transactions back, before i sent this very last one of about 30 minutes ago.

What is the best thing to do or did i really lose most of my coins?

anyone with any ideas greatly appreciated.

best regards,
Gabrio
