GLBSE wouldnt allow someone to list a security with an actual business model ? huh.

Well, then there wouldn't be enough room for PPTs and mining bonds/shares, duh!

This is an excellet idea.
I may become a farmer and collect funding like this. lol

Hemp is state subsidized at the tune of €200/ton in Portugal.

Don't waste your 8 bitcoins, this will never make it to IPO and will never be listed.

This isn't an official statement, I don't work for GLBSE, but they don't allow any kind of drug-related issue and I've seen them turn down numerous such ideas. Regardless of whether or not it's a good idea or not, it will bring the heat down hard on Nef and he knows it.

My advice is to send an e-mail to [email protected] and not post threads like this here anymore, you should check with [email protected] instead of trying to drum up public support for an issue like this. Just a thought ^^

I was mostly joking. Farming is not my thing.
But did you read what I wrote? You think the Portuguese government or any European government(there are 18 that subsidize hemp) would subsidize Cannabis? They subsidize Industrial Hemp.
Plus, if GLBSE allows selling Pirate Pass Troughs I don't see why they wouldn't allow an Industrial Hemp business.

Hemp is a not a drug, "not for human consumption"

Sure, but OP referenced silk road and I think we all know what this is really about Smiley Trust me, I'm a Canadian.

If I cared what the media thought I wouldnt use bitcoin.
Industrial Hemp /= Marijuana.

Whether you care or not is irrelevant. The media will care, and the media affects who decides to jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon, which affects you, like it or not. I agree that the media is often wrong and not necessarily beneficial as a whole, but that doesn't change the impact it has.

Wasn't there a listing called POT or WEED that was delisted?

Because it was an illegal grow operation.

Are people that brainwashed they cant tell the difference between hemp fibre and the plant that supplies THC ? You would need to smoke an entire field of hemp to get even a slight buzz.

The world would be a lot different if paper barons hadnt lobbied politicians to run a smear campaign.

Regardless of permits, legality, or morality, the last thing Bitcoin needs is more drug-related press. Please, whatever you do or do not do, keep it low-key.

My point exactly. I do not know what you plan to do, nor do I care, but if the media catches wind, they will.

I recently found out it is possible to get a permit to grow "Low THC cannabis"(the heads have less than 1% thc) for the production of legal products (fibres, oils, plastics etc.) here. so having such a permit I'm sure nefario would allow it.

What you could do is sign up to be a seller on silk road (and sell innocuous items elsewhere on the internet). Issue a stock on GLBSE to raise capital, then do some trading in hemp. I bet there would be bunches of bitcoiners willing to invest in such a venture if you present it well. Silkroad seems like a place to make a good margin on an investment?
I really doubt nefario would be interested in having that on the exchange somehow  Wink

I don't think it breaks any of the terms of service. As long as it is legal somewhere he probably lets it slide, and there are certainly countries that do not have as draconian drug laws as the US.

Perhaps instead of calling the company HEMP, you could use somethig like HERB?

http://www.cannabisinvestments.com/ I found this site and thought it would be nice if you could invest in a hemp company on glbse. Maybe a passthrough to those actual companies on the stock exchange would be acceptable too ?

Im guessing silk road wont IPO anytime soon  Smiley
