And when they realized that they made a terrible mistake, it was already too late. Sometimes people need an expensive lesson before they learn how to deal with online propagandas. And once he realized his mistake and look back to his post, he will be ashamed of what he has written. Because it will be a slap on his face about the ignorance he showed.

We cannot ignore this to happen. Many newcomers who enter the crypto world only care about the profits they will acquire when investing or doing something in the crypto world and will show the result. However, they may even do not care about the risks that they may experience. It is probably a small bite of what scammers can do. ANd scammers will ever tell the victims about their lying only leaving them when they got the money. And who believe the altcoins are still true, this means that they are not carefully analyzing the projects or coins

This is what 5 generations of inbreeding before you will do to your brain. Haha.

Actually, I don't know if they are manipulated, are paid, or are simply the flat-earthers of cryptocurrencies.

Hahaha! Scammed.

But on a serious note, this is what happens when trolls/liars/propagandists reach the the people who are early on their journey.

It's YOUR responsibility to give them the truth, and put them on the correct path.

I truly appreciate Pham. My goal was to acquire 1 $BTC by the end of the year, and thanks to you I found out about $BSV, and now own about 15 BitCoin. My new goal is 30 BitCoin by 12/31/2019.

Well we who know better can only do so much on our end. It's the responsibility of the person to make sure they do their part in studying what they're getting themselves and their money into. The problem with newbies is that they're more than willing to fall prey once they're promised easy money. Even if you tell them that it doesn't work that way, they'd run after a promise that's too good to be true. So most of the time, lessons in crypto investing and trading are learned the hard way.

Listen to trolls, and you get trolled into HODLING a shitcoin. It's partly our responsibility to educate the newbies. If they don't listen, then they learn. The hard way. Cool

I have seen lots of friends including my brother blindly investing on crypto currency and they lost huge amount . It is not the place to make quick profit . You should analyze market . If possible check promoters holding . Lastly project purpose and solution provided by the project which is assoicated to the token or Coin . Most of the coins ruled by Pumpers and dumpers investors should aware about these pumping and dumping group . If you follow these kind of Random post in social media then you will lead to huge loss

Crypto dividends are a great thing. All those forked altcoins made me so much money for free and most of the time all I had to do was hold Bitcoin and sometimes sign a message that's all. I knew there will be people buying these from me and ultimately losing but we are all in the same game. When you sell an altcoin you sell it to someone who can lose on this trade. Possibly his last money. Dos that prevent you from sleeping at night?

Still doesn't make it NOT our responsibility to set the right path for the newbies, unless you don't know anything yourself.

You OK with a person tricked by trolls into buying a shitcoin, believing it's Bitcoin?

Basically, that is the best representation of how powerful the name bitcoin is. In this case newbies and new to cryptocurrencies know that bitcoin is the best crypto in the market. Attaching the name bitcoin to it makes a cryptocurrency perform even if it is created and manage by someone that isn't reputable, that crypto will remain good in the market. Sooner or later, we will realize that there is only one Bitcoin, where all of these are relying into. And that is satoshi's bitcoin.

LMAO, someone should explain to this folk how BTC isn't equal to BSV. He can't buy 15 BSV and say he has 15 Bitcoins. I just ask my self what would happen if this guy founds DogeCoin... It would be something like My dream was to have 1 bitcoin but i found DogeCoin and now i have 21M bitcoins #GetThemAll

I advised him learn about Dogecoin. He surely can reach high numbers faster than with BSV and at least it's a reputable altcoin.
I hope he understands sarcasm.
Haha, that's really very funny when some people pay some bucks and buy Chinese iphone which god knows what is in reality (not ios, not android, smartphone without software/hardware I guess but still smartphone).
Am I the only one who didn't understand the joke? He mentions BTC and BSV, so I think he can make difference between them. Is it sarcasm?
Btw why such scenario didn't come to Roger Ver's mind? He could start like that at first, we all know he is full of shady behaviors but still he has great fantasy cause he recorded video about deleted thread in bitcointalk which was mistakenly posted in Russian board.

Any shitcoin can call itself "Bitcoin", like shit owners who picked shit from the ground can call them "diamonds". But it will never be the real thing. Have the name, have the ticker, there's only one Bitcoin that reached consensus.

It's all good for Bitcoin. In all cases forks provide free marketing for the real Bitcoin while their own crappy knockoffs keep struggling to stay afloat.

On top of that, it provides Bitcoiners extra dividends they can trade for the real deal, which is an opportunity that doesn't arise very often. I'm pretty sure most people here who traded their bcash and bgold for Bitcoin early on did extremely well. It's pretty much a +20% dividend calculated over your entire Bitcoin stack that you had before the forks took place.

Dividends? You believe that forked coins should be encouraged, and have their trolls call it "Bitcoin" to scam the newbies?

What will they learn? Is Bitcoin just a another scheme?

I think many people should be thankful for finding bitcoin including us since bitcoin provides an opportunity for everyone to invest whether individual or institutional investors. If you look around, you can see many people are now depending on the bitcoin to survive and indeed, that is a very good idea.
This is spam. The original post is talking about someone who was tricked into thinking that Bitcoin SV is Bitcoin, hence the quotes in the title. You have clearly not read the original post and instead just rattled off an off-topic post having read only the title of the thread.

Sort it out please.

This is proof that we should be aware at all times. Because in this platform or in this world of internet, we do not know who is saying the truth. Because also of this, there are lots of people that are scamming other people just to get money. I recommend to everyone that they should be aware of every decision and step they take especially when they have someone making transaction. I am thankful that in my almost 3 -4 years of making money here, I am earning and not being scammed like it was intentional, maybe I am not being paid in the past in some failed ICO but that is not their fault.

Many people make tweets like that for sponsors and scammed, I hope users see this and do research on the coin system. Profits are not easy to get without rational methods and evidence. The final result depends on the user acting.

I hope, there will be no more users who are fooled into the momentary unreal benefits. We need users who understand about the ideals of blockchian and crypto created. not for deceptive acts.

trying to fight the adverts of which chain is bitcoin is a war no one can win.
because as soon as you think you have, someone else forks and makes bitcoin xyz or bitcoinpaper or bitcoinmeme and it starts all over again

instead the most sensible and smart war to battle is to let people know that bitcoin analogy is like dollar
there are many dollars(canadian, zimbabwee, australian) but the main one is cores(US dollar)

Newly seasoned investors really are picking on random coins and just hoping for the best which is really wrong, It really needs proper attention and researches your way into picking the right coin this can not be managed by just brute force alone and you are  using your money to brute force in the earning, I guess this is a matter of time for us to help people who are in need and in desperation in learning and earning with cryptocurrency for once this is an example of lost souls that are trying so bad with cryptocurreny.
What does this even mean?? You've posted something which isn't really relevant to the thread, I assume for your signature campaign.

This thread isn't about 'picking random coins', the thread is about someone being mis-sold on what Bitcoin SV is by a member of the BSV team - it's a classic tactic of the people involved with BSV to claim that it is simply Bitcoin. In reality, it's not. (you can argue that it is as it is a direct fork off the main chain, but IMO, by definition, the fact it is not the most recognized chain means that it is not the 'true' Bitcoin).
I don't see it as irrelevant to the topic.
Because clearly the person who got decieved just believe what he has been told.
For me it also looks like a random picking but with a help of another person's opinion.
If the person isn't just random picking his investment then he would know the difference in BSV and BTC because he have done his research.

Or people are not just reading correctly what the post - tweet meant? the way i perceive it is that the persons intention was to own one btc by the end of the year but for some reason he was introduce to bsv which is  worth 15 btc, and his next goal is 30 btc if the much anticipated bull run occur by year end, this is my interpretation of the above tweet, i don't think this person is mistaken btc to bsv at all, to me he seem to know exactly what he is saying, after all btc can be acquire using other coins not necessary btc.
The problem is this person says that he already has 15 Bitcoin and the other goal is to have 30 Bitcoin, what he actually has is not BTC but BSV. This person clearly doesn't quite understand that.

He probably said it because he thinks it's all the same. Bitcoin cash Bitcoin SV newbies think that it's one big happy family. Like when you're trying to decide between a Bentley and a Bugatti. Both owned by Volkswagen, both known for quality. Buying SV instead of Bitcoin is buying a cheap knockoff made by a megalomaniac and a liar.

Looks to me, like you just upset his shitcoin performed better than your shitcoin.

There are like 17 or more coins that kept the bitcoin in their name,
technically it is not incorrect to call any of them bitcoin for shorthand.

It seems the community should have copyrighted the word bitcoin, if you wanted to own it.
But the dev team aka blockstream failed to do so.
Someone call Greg Maxwell at home and tell him, he screwed up.  Cheesy

If you believe Bitcoin is a shitcoin why are you in this forum?

I believe you have a hidden agenda and that's why you discredit Bitcoin, but honestly, the people who are going to make the most money in the long run, are going to be the ones who do their own research, realizing that the other coins are just scams.

Scroll up a bit and you will see that these shitcoins have a army of trolls that are spreading FUD to confuse people. This forum are not immune to these people and their hidden agendas. You can report people if they openly scam people, but these guys have perfected the art to sell snake oil to people and promising that it would cure cancer.  Roll Eyes

Just let them do their thing and dig a whole for themselves, because they are eventually going to fall into the hole that they are digging for other people.  Grin

trying to fight the adverts of which chain is bitcoin is a war no one can win.
because as soon as you think you have, someone else forks and makes bitcoin xyz or bitcoinpaper or bitcoinmeme and it starts all over again

instead the most sensible and smart war to battle is to let people know that bitcoin analogy is like dollar
there are many dollars(canadian, zimbabwee, australian) but the main one is cores(US dollar)

just shouting bitcoinxxx aint bitcoin is exactly like saying australians dont use dollars(no win argument thats flawed)

these bitcoin forks are from a technical point bitcoin forks
because they all have satoshis genesis in them
bitcoins # for block1 is 00000000839a8e6886ab5951d76f411475428afc90947ee320161bbf18eb6048
so from a technical point litecoin is not a bitcoin fork
litecoins # for block1 is 80ca095ed10b02e53d769eb6eaf92cd04e9e0759e5be4a8477b42911ba49c78f

so in no way can a true altcoin be a bitcoin. meaning litecoin would be a 'pound' or a 'yen' but not a dollar
take bitcoinPlus this is a good xample of a coin that has no satoshi genesis
block#1: 000004abe215ffa766d43c64be31d187c353186163bb11e860ad3ea2c70d8cb9 (year: 2015)
so both ecomonical level and technical level is not a 'bitcoin' even though the brand says it
however the bitcoin forks that include the satoshi genesis would be a harder argument to fight

so just to make the argument simple to fight
once you make it common knowledge that there is more than one 'dollar' currency in the world people stop thinking they are getting a great deal buying canadian and thinking its american. but instead know to expect there are canadian, australian, american and find the one right for them when they want to buy the american dollar
thus less headaches and less battle and getting straight to the point of helping people become more observant

however if you keep saying 'there is only one bitcoin' people will get easily fooled thinking all the forks and brand copies are the same thing

it is the same with bitcoin too! they have to do some research and see how to detect fake shitcons that are forging the bitcoin brand.
I doubt whether he is playing dumb, anyone investing in the market will learn about the different coins in the market and if he think that some fork coin is the real bitcoin then he is also propagating the same agenda to prove to others what he holds is the real bitcoin.

I truly appreciate Pham. My goal was to acquire 1 $BTC by the end of the year, and thanks to you I found out about $BSV, and now own about 15 BitCoin. My new goal is 30 BitCoin by 12/31/2019.

Wooahhh, that's crazy! HAHAHA!
Well at least he doubled the quantity though not with bitcoin.

Kidding aside, I don't know if that user was aware that bitcoin is different from BSV while that Pham took advantage. I wonder what will be his reaction if he found out BSV is not bitcoin. Perhaps by now someone enlighten him from what he did.
I guess his not, base on what  reaction he give on the twitter his thinking that  BSV and BTC is the same and he want to have it more target 30 Btc but he is only holding BSV . But still its profit so there is no issue if what currency it is as long as he earn from it.

if this is indeed reality and can get a lot of profit like that is already extraordinary, because at this time a lot of traders are trapped and do not know what they want to buy because it might also be affected by market conditions that are stuck do not have good price movements anymore so it is difficult to can get that much profit in conditions like this.

in the end it is the user's responsibility to do extensive research about the thing they are buying. for example when you are buying a phone you just don't go to a flee market, close your eyes and pick the first thing you encounter. instead you read some online reviewed, check out the features, learn how to detect fake ones made by the Chinese forging the brand name,...
it is the same with bitcoin too! they have to do some research and see how to detect fake shitcons that are forging the bitcoin brand.

As investors it is indeed our responsibility to know what we are investing into to avoid getting scammed. With today's popularity of bitcoin, scammers are also at large and they most target newbies because of this scenarios, newbies tend to invest without really researching on the thing he is about to invest to most especially if the person who introduced it to them promised them big returns. And because of this as well, bitcoin has come to a bad light and was tagged as scam because of people investing with wrong people and later on realized that what they invest into is not what they are expecting.

The thing is every coin floating around the markets these days is shitcoin only. If you look at it closely then you would see that not only are these shitcoins having fake pumps and dumps but also they are really having no goals no companies actually working on any developments. I don't even know a single Altcoins which went on to do everything what was promised by them at the time of their initial offerings.

Of course, the best way to promote any coin is to use Bitcoin, every altcoins life depends on Bitcoin if you will promote your project, that it is very similar to Bitcoin you have a good chance to get attention, but that attention will only come from newbies who are all looking for something similar to Bitcoin in it's progress.

The confusion between Bitcoin SV is at least not as bad as Bitcoin Cash. Most people will get curious what the SV means after Bitcoin and they will do their research.

Bitcoin cash sounds more like it's actually Bitcoin. There are certain debit or credit cards out there which have the term Cash after them and they are a different form of payment. Because of this is why many people assumed that Bitcoin cash is just a different form of the real Bitcoin itself. It's why at the beginning it was called BCash instead of Bitcoin Cash primarily with exchanges to prevent confusion.

There were also people who went to Bitcoin.com and ended up buying BCH instead of BTC because it was the primarily listed option.

That twitter post might seem like nothing more than a troll post to get followers, these days people post anything just to get enough likes and followers and shouldn't be taken seriously.

If you make more money buying another coin, it doesn't say anything.
There are always opportunities to make money with anything, even outside the world of cryptocurrencies.

The problem is that you have to tell the truth that Bitcoin SV is not Bitcoin.

It doesn't bother me that he wants to buy it more Bitcoin SV. It just bothers me that he is spreading false information to get others to keep raising the price of his shit coin.

Random picking is not really a good idea, as majority of the coins are not really good and worth to hold at, so be very careful for it.

Everyone of us are thankful that we found Bitcoin in our life, so still holding Bitcoin is the best rather than choosing some altcoins without any research thinking and hoping that the value of it will rise someday.

Newbies are likely to fall on this kind of scheme because they don't have any idea what the real Bitcoin is, the only downside here is that those people are going to accuse Bitcoin as scam even though it has nothing to do with real Bitcoin. Knew the dodgy "s at the title was going to be a bad sign, can't believe I got baited by it, lmao.

There's a lot of these shills on twitter and telegram, thanking people for giving them insight in something, and then going around and advertising a random shit-coin. Twitter influencers, am I right...

you should keep in mind that this is only one of many examples out there where people are either trolling the internet by calling their shitcoin the "real" bitcoin. or they are poor newbies who were fooled into buying a shitcoin instead when they wanted to buy bitcoin! this last case was actually very common last year when bitcoin.com (Roger Ver nest) started calling BCash "bitcoin" and renamed bitcoin to "bitcoin core" and a lot of newbies were buying that shitcoin instead then on forums about why they haven't received it in their wallet!
I don't think they are trolls most of the time, I reckon it's some stupid that get conned into supporting a coin via influencers or people they respect, I can imagine a lot of people being new to crypto-currencies and then going to buy bitcoin, finding bitcoin cash to be the 'recommended" option when they go to buy it on bitcoin.com, and then end up with that and not a second thought.

No, no mistake. He actually thanked Kevin Pham that "he found BSV", and he actually called it Bitcoin. But what is actually Bitcoin?

LOL! I guess the person who Kevin Pham helped find "Bitcoin" is here.  Grin

Kidding aside, the main problem is made up of two parts. One, people are lazy. I mean, most of us. And then the other part of the problem is that we already have a lot of Bitcoin in the market today. Bitcoin Cash is claiming itself to be the real Bitcoin. And then we also have Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV), Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Bitcoin Diamond (BCD), Bitcoin Private (BTCP), Bitcoin Plus (XBC), BitcoinHD (BHD), and many more.

If you combine these two, you will come up with the likes of Pham and the one he helped.

This is the importance of having strong foundations in understanding the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Don't just get carried away by the flow of hysteria, FOMO, without having the knowledge, you will end up regretting it and can only blame if cryptocurrency is dangerous, blah ... blah ... blah ... even though it is a result of their own carelessness.

That's some hilarious situation here. Looking for Bitcoin and finding Bitcoin SV, quite funny to say. It all boils down to actually doing proper research and getting enough background knowledge before doing anything. But I'm actually happy for him, at least he got something out if his investment, still a plus side.
Well, lots of similar tickers, same name. Most ordinary people think that cryptocurrency is just bitcoin, in fact, there are many types of cryptocurrencies.

This might be funny on the side, but this is actually a real deal, especially it gives cryptocurrency specifically bitcoin a bad image, making people who doesn't have enough education and idea about bitcoin perceive it as something fake and dangerous to enter. In the first place it's people's responsibility to know and conduct a deeper study and what they are about to enter so they can avoid losing more than they can afford.

Let this be a moral lesson to everyone especially those who are just beginning here in the cryptocurrency world, that they should trust whatever they are seeing as everything can be manipulated in a market, and can be hype. Do your own research is what we are all saying to all newbies, so if they got victim, this is their fault.

That's just one of their way they have many ways to shill their coin at the expense of Bitcoin or any top coin in the making, if you are an investor, you should be wise to know if they are shilling a coin or promoting the coin that they are holding.

I never trust these shills, I prefer watching youtube,  reading the reviews, and checking closely the coin that they are promoting
it's safer and reliable to read fair reviews.

Sorry that I find it funny as well. Believing it was btc. Also the replies "sorry for your loss" had me laughing. we'll end up in a conclusion that we should really study first what we're going into before making action to avoid these kind of happenings. I bet he already learned his lesson.
Though it would be better if stan twitter should've taught him, yet they just laugh at him. I know it's funny but they should have educate him after laughing.

But each people perceive truth differently and it's shown by the fact there are few BCH and BSV enthusiast who genuinely thought BCH or BSV are best cryptocurrency.
And because they genuinely thought it's the truth, they will invite others to follow the same path.

Hopefully that was the case, if not, I feel sorry to these people who were mislead by lies and deception of BSV people.

Fortunately, this is a mistake that can be easily corrected just by selling BSV and investing in BTC.
True, but regardless he still wasting his time and losing some amount of his money due to exchange fees, transaction fees, price changes, etc.

Not only that, somehow he became a laughing stock of many people including some of us here.  I actually laugh when I read about the tweet.

It can easily correct once he makes a proper research and decides to change his investment plan.
The problem is that it is very hard to find accurate information regarding cryptocurrencies.

We see so many bullshit regarding scaling, quantum superiority, faketoshi, bitcoin old tech, etc etc that it is very hard for some people to stay away from all those scams.

Even bitcointalk became a place for those stupid ideas, although here we can find also people who "show the light" to newbies

Unfortunately the crypto space is still in big majority the equivalent of wild west. People who endeavour on this journey need to make all their decisions on themselves and shouldn't get trapped in someone else's efforts to promote/market a scam. Or somebody else's mistakes, faults and stupidness. Personally I am bearish on any altcoin that has the word "Bitcoin" in their name

Hahaha! Scammed. But on a serious note, this is what happens when trolls/liars/propagandists reach the people who are early on their journey. It's YOUR responsibility to give them the truth, and put them on the correct path.

This is a little bit funny but sad. The guy is thinking that he got Bitcoin by buying BSV. I now remember the early days of BitcoinCash where some people were also fooled to get BCH convinced that they were dealing with the real Bitcoin. I read that Tweeter post and I could not help laughing at the many reactions of the others. Oh man, where is the intelligence here, I mean even a 6-year old boy can easily distinguish between the two by just reading the main page of CMC.

What a guy rofl. $1.3k is just almost 15% of total bitcoins price and this guy is so happy about it and trolls or he just doesn't know what he is really doing in his miserable life lol.
It's YOUR responsibility to give them the truth, and put them on the correct path.
You can't only blame the one who persuades someone to join. Yes we are responsible for our downlines or mentee but they are also responsible and in control of what they will do in the future, on what they'll be doing in the stuff you told them about if they want to head to the right path they will by themselves.

Damn, you are right when I was just starting out here, the hardest thing is to see how's shilling and who's giving you the right information, and this is very much true today when so many deceptions are happening, so many bounty hunters feeding us wrong information and so many developers telling us they are the next big thing, the hardest part now is to see the real and the fake one and how to differentiate.

Really LOL! haha. He's thankful he found Bitcoin but with the value of Bitcoin SV. Actually he indeed found BSV and not BTC. hehe
I think, instead of trolling or joining the crowd. Why not just teach them the right knowledge.

That's exactly what i was thinking... The poor schmuck just invested +$1000 in a fork and everybody is making fun at him... Why doesn't anybody take the time to explain to him that he needs to exchange those BSV back into fiat or BTC asap and teach him where he went wrong?
I know i should do it myself instead of posting on bitcointalk, but to tell you the truth, i do have a twitter account, but i very seldomly use it, so i guess nobody would believe a twitter-newbie with a handfull of followers anyways...

People tend to enjoy bullying and discriminating other people who do stupid stuffs, I don't know if this make them happy or this is just their habits but they are the ones who looks stupid to me, they know they are not helping and bullying or trash talking people who made a mistake because they are just newbies yet they are still continuing on such act.

Fortunately, this is a mistake that can be easily corrected just by selling BSV and investing in BTC. It is very easy for an inexperienced person to go in the wrong direction, especially since any of forked Bitcoins is using Bitcoin in the name. There is also the factor of big and small numbers, as is evident in this case as well - he want 1BTC, now he has 30 coins which are in a way Bitcoins, but not the real ones.

The fact that Roger Ver and Faketoshi have an entire army of promoters should not be overlooked, they are working for their own financial gain, and against Bitcoin that is launched by Satoshi Nakamoto.

This post was actually funny. I check the twitter link and read some comments that were very hilarious.I feel pity for that guy he has no ideas he has been a laughing stock at twitter. I do hope somebody corrects him and tell him that btc and bsv are two different things. But at the same time holding bsv is also not bad since if bitcoins value will climb it will also affects bsv value. So I guess he will still profit but the only wrong is that he took BSV and BTC as the same.

This is exactly what Roger Ver and his supporters wants, because they know "newbies" will opt for the cheaper coin and then buy the wrong coin. The decision to use the word "Bitcoin" in their forked coin was done on purpose to confuse these "newbies" and to piggyback on the most popular coin BTC reputation.

It is unfortunate that people are not doing the proper research before they invest in Crypto currencies and then things like this happens and when the person realize their mistake, Bitcoin gets the bad rap.  Angry

in the end it is the user's responsibility to do extensive research about the thing they are buying. for example when you are buying a phone you just don't go to a flee market

LOL! I remember I've seen somebody having a (Chinese) "IPhone" running on Android.

in the end it is the user's responsibility to do extensive research about the thing they are buying. for example when you are buying a phone you just don't go to a flee market, close your eyes and pick the first thing you encounter. instead you read some online reviewed, check out the features, learn how to detect fake ones made by the Chinese forging the brand name,...
it is the same with bitcoin too! they have to do some research and see how to detect fake shitcons that are forging the bitcoin brand.

Agreed, you can't just enter the crypto world and invest in the first thing you see, that kind of looks like what you want. I think that people still see crypto as an easy solution, a quick way to get rich, and they don't even realize how much research there is to do to even gain a basic grasp of the market, different coins, what to invest in, and more. However, how many would have been instantly intimidated if they did know how much they don't know? It takes dedication to persist, I think, and I wonder if the majority of people have it in them to actually learn and understand what this technology is and how it works. Not to mention the dangers of it all.
There are a lot of unknowns in the whole crypto world and extensive research is needed before one starts investing, it's like buying stocks you need to do some research on your own and not just trust the words and opinions of everyone who claims to be a crypto expert, most of them have their reasons for doing what they do.

I advised him learn about Dogecoin. He surely can reach high numbers faster than with BSV and at least it's a reputable altcoin.
I hope he understands sarcasm.
