Welcome! Armory is the most secure wallet out there, but I would just go with an online wallet like coinbase...
I'd say the main thing is to store your private keys off the network. That will keep them secure.
Not only store, but create as well on a computer not connected (now and in future as well) to internet (NSA nightmare, BTW

I have just gotten into Bitcoins in the last week or so although I have seen threads on it multiple times on Reddit. I should have invested into it long ago when I first saw it, but here I am now! I am trying to figure out a good way to secure my wallet, would it be best to use Electrum (currently using as main wallet)?

I would sugest bitcoin-qt instead for a wallet. I have never heard of Electrum and don't know if its secure.
The best way is to put things in cold storage, there are various methods of doing this generally, but I like the idea of personal servers being offline and backed up

I personally preffer Bitcoin-QT, but Electrum should be fine. Either way, use long password to encrypt your wallet, and write it on paper hiden in secure location so you dont forget it

For hot wallet it is ok. For cold wallet, best is paper wallet or offline armoury

For bigger sums is any client on your online computer risky, as you might get malware with keylogger now or later
