If so, does the content that I posted on here stay on here under my name or does it show up as "deleted user" or something like that?
You can not delete your account. Admins don't do it for you.

There are alternate solutions: Change username to Anonymous,
I read this and quickly rushed to my profile setting to see if it was really possible to change username, and i didnt find any option that allows that, then i returned back to read the rest of you comment and discovered its only possible if the user contact theymos. Grin

Its good that the forum does not offer the option to delete or edit usernames without reaching out to theymos first, as I believe that if this options were available to users, a lot of users would have abused it greatly, most especially, the bad eggs amongst after they've maybe committed a crime or broke a rule.

if this is authoritative https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php I would say that the IP address is remembered only for 30 days. at least that's how I see it for my account.
Thank you. I was looking for the link to find the correct retain time. I was in a doubt if that was for 3 months or 6 months. That's why I did not put a time there.

The most recent comment from theymos I could find on this:

There's now an option in your account settings which will allow you to reduce retention of your logged IPs to 3 months. You should only consider enabling this if you've staked a pubkey in the thread and you're sure that your account email is correct. I'm not sure if 3 months is enough to respond adequately to all abuse; we'll see, and I might change it later or perhaps restrict it based on rank.

So, it seems that the shortest possible retention time for the full IP address is 3 months. I'm not sure if anything has changed since then, but I see the same information also on the "About privacy" page:

I assume https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php shows only 30 days of data due to security reasons.

I'm very curious, about what kind of trouble connecting an IP address with an account on the forum can cause?
Finding location could be a good reason. Many users do not use vpn/tor. With the IP addresses you will at-least know their location.

Leave the account for few months. The IP and other data will be removed automatically since there is a certain period of time and after that all data will be wiped out from the database.

As it has already been said, you cannot delete your account.
Posts / threads individually clean up would be possible but still remains for example https://ninjastic.space/search?author=yat97 where a history is to be found.

No idea if tryNinja would clean up here manually (for you).
If you want to lose access there are a few variants.
But a complete cleanup is more complex.

Even if you delete all your posts you should know that everything is archived and backed up in bitcointalk forum with multiple services from LoyceV and Ninjastic.
Sometimes it bothers me. I understand it's a public domain but I think everyone has their right to request their online activities down. In the forum you can do that, or at least you do it manually. But for Loyce.club, ninjastic.space, merit dashboard, bpip.org are they allowed to freely archive data, according to general law? Some terms and conditions really need to apply here which will be visitor friendly.

When I am creating a content, I am obliged by the terms and conditions of the forum. If there was a permission kind of something and if I was asked to give them permission to archive my data, I would say no.

You can't delete topics that you created even if you wanted, only way is to ask moderators to do this for you, but like I said archives will remain.
If you wanted to hide your real IP address you should use earlier something like Tor browser or vpn services, but now it's to late for that.
I would not worry so much about this, unless you shared some really sensitive private information in public.

I am sure I missed the suggestion from others. You have only 155 posts.
Delete all replies, one by one.
Remove text from the topics you created, one by one.
Leave the account for few months. The IP and other data will be removed automatically since there is a certain period of time and after that all data will be wiped out from the database.

Logging in hasn't been too difficult either, and I just found a link that provides a captcha bypass.  https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php
Logging in with tor without having this captcha bypass URL is impossible for me.

Learn about Tor Browser, you won't have to worry about any ip logs.
It's not possible to use Tor Browser at the first you want to create new account, you will have a problem with captcha since it can't be completed. Anyone users must created new account with his real IP, then they can access this forum through Tor Browser when he know his special code to log his account without completing a captcha.

This is wrong. It's possible to register with Tor Browser if you're very patient to solve captcha (last time i'm doing it for login, it took about 5 minutes) and willing to pay pay evil fee. Using VPN would be more realistic option though.

I registered using Tor Browser, and didn't have much trouble with the captchas.  I don't think it took more than 2 or 3 attempts, (7 motorcycles?) but now I don't remember the exact numbers.  I did get flagged for evil ip, but LoyceV helped me with that.

The admin of this site have made it easy to remain private, and I appreciate that.  It can be difficult at first, but I imagine that's meant to limit bot spammers.

I dont really mind my account remaining on here but the issue being my IP address being stored/logged could cause me trouble in the future. So does deleting my account remove all the stuff I posted?

You can not delete your account. Admins don't do it for you.

There are alternate solutions: Change username to Anonymous, abandon your account or send a request to theymos to change your username to a new one if you have valid reasons why current username is dangerous for your anonymity, you will be doxed ...

Deleting accounts doesn't mess up any threads, like this thread. It just changes to anonymous, with no profile information. Post stays intact.

As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.

It's not possible. Just abandon it.

Done. Now only moderators, Donators, and VIP members can change their names automatically. Other members should contact me. I'll probably ignore your request if you have less than 50 posts (unless your posts are very good).

you can try and ask theymos to change your account to anonymous/guest but I think he'll only do it if you have a very good reason.
Has theymos ever done that? I doubt, I'm not sure though. I haven’t seen theymos doing that ever. I don't know if you are referring to the accounts which username is Anonymous. If it is, then for your info, back in the day, it was possible to post in the forum without registering an account on the forum.

You can delete all in your post history if you want but your account will remain visible here in the forum.
But it doesn't mean your deleted post will totally disappear, it can be traceable using LoyceV's tool.

If this is your concern, so far I didn't see a staff of this forum revealing the user's IP address or privacy, I think it will happen if you will request them.

If not, does deleting this account disconnect this account from those things posted? Or is it still stored/logged? In which case the best I could do is simply remove everything I can from what I posted. I honestly would like to keep those things up... but... Idk if it would still be connected to this account, which was connected to my real IP at one point. Idk.
My advice might be this.
Delete all posts in your history, change your password to a difficult one and forget it.
Leaving in the forum isn't that simple, time come you'll be missed those discussions here.  Just preserve your account and come back anytime.

For the cae of Nuked accounts, the name stays

If the account is nuked. Everything is deleted except the account name and posts that have been quoted by other users in their replies, but I doubt if they will even delete or nuke your account.

Also, there are about 2 third party sites that will still have records of your archived posts.

If you’re concerned with IP logging on the forum, then you should take a careful read through this thread, where there is a specific section on IP address retention (as well as other info of interest):
https://bitcointalk.org/privacy.php

Pay close attention to the comments on limited retention, since enabling that flag on your profiles reduces the IP info retained substantially (there is a warning that it could make account recovery more difficult in the event, but I figure being able to sign from a posted/quoted bitcoin address should supersede this need).

I’d say though that, if the privacy practices stated are carried out completely, it will be on the running version. Backups may always exist with a snapshot of the data.

Note: Also consider that all external sites that are built around the forum to enhance some functionality or cover the lack off, may also harbour your IP information regardless of the forum’s own policy to that effect.

as for IP staying on websites logs even after deactivating an account on that website, apparently, it would, at least according to my short search on google but just like what decodex has said it will not stay indefinitely. I could be wrong though.

There is no way to delete your account. At least not without admin help. And, as far as I know, this has only happened in extremely rare cases.

I dont really mind my account remaining on here but the issue being my IP address being stored/logged could cause me trouble in the future. So does deleting my account remove all the stuff I posted?

Your IP addresses are not stored/logged indefinitely. I don't know the exact information by heart, but I think that all stored IP addresses of members are deleted after a certain period of time.

If not, does deleting this account disconnect this account from those things posted? Or is it still stored/logged? In which case the best I could do is simply remove everything I can from what I posted. I honestly would like to keep those things up... but... Third-party sites have already archived everything, so you will never be able to delete everything, even if you delete all your content from this forum.
