Hey there, I've just joined and thought I'd best say hi!  Smiley

New to Bitcoin (and all the others), just got interested after it made the headlines and wondered what it was all about... Limited resources, so CPU mining alt-coins via multipool (40kh/s) just to get a few coins in my wallet. A hobby really, I reckon I should have got interested earlier if I wanted to make money...  Wink

Cheers,
Rich

Welcome Rich, you may not get really wealth playing around with it but at very least I think you'll learn some things, I know I did.

Yeah, I tried a a few different options and couldn't get them all to work. I'm using CPUminer now, which is working out ok for the altcoins. I think most pools have example config files which you can copy and paste (although I know it's not always that simple....) For Nvidia cards I think cudaminer is your best bet, but I tried and failed with that setup. Had to install Cuda toolkit but still wouldn't work for some reason.

Same here, new to the digital currency scene. Trying to get my feet wet my mining litecoin with GUI miner on my Nvidia GTX 470 Sad

Unfortunately, it seems I need to know how exactly to work the GUIminer before doing any mining, since I always get hung on the connection stage. I can't find my GPU on the Default GPU drop down menu-just a bunch of AMD cards. I need to understand how to exactly input the URL (WHAT FUCKING PART TO CUT OUT?) and username/password (apparently different from ones you use to long into pools), ports, etc.

Essentially, I can't figure out how to connect to pools properly or use GUI miner properly.

Help Sad
