I could never get cg miner working cause im a newb so i quit mining.

ages later, thanks for your answers. As I'm mining litecoins I went to other forum to ask. and finally It worked with BAMT. But nor CGminer or GUIminer run. I tried low configs to make it run but nothing, installed diferent versions of drivers, the lastes sdk files, so I don't know. Now I'm getting some 7970's so I'll sell my 5850.

I would test with GUIminer and also check which version of the SDK drivers you have installed - from memory I think 2.4 gave the best performance

Are there any error messages thrown?  Can you provide a little more detail besides that it doesn't run?  Could be a ton of different problems, hard to help you without more specific error information.

Alternatively, have you tried an alternate miner such as bfgminer?

Maybe you test if his parameters (using your own credentials of course) work for you?

There are tons of threads threads like that one out there, the 5850 is a very popular card when it comes to mining after all..

Well, first of all say Hi to all the people here!

I'm quite new on mining, till now i've been cpu mining litecoins. Recently i bought a 5850 to start with gpu mining. But its weird what is happening because chminer doesn't run.
I've been a week looking for the problem but i can find any solution. I have change the drivers from the last stable version 13.4 to the last beta 13.8 (i think is that) i tried the 13.1 as i found on the wiki hardware comparison as good stable setup, but no luck.

running the 13.4 version I made it run twice, it always crashes so i've changing setups lower and lower, or removing all flags so cgminer could setup it self, but crashes as well. When it could run i got 250khs and 350khs the second, what it is good. but as i was trying setups i closed and run again with no luck, so i go back to that setup again and won't run.
I also tried like the minimum setup like thread concurrency 2049, intensity 8 or 10 like very low low setup but still don't run.

I read that ram is very important and as i'm running with 2gb 667mhz, duo core 2,63, win 7. I changed to another sistem with better mobo, ram and core... but crashing again I made a new fresh win installation and again...

So I though might be the gpu was bad as it is second hand, so i tested with aquamark benchmark tester but says its ok....

i'm very lost with this issue, i tried guiminer as well but is the same... so guys i'd very very appreciate any help you can give me...
