BTC is nothing like stocks. You have to be greedy, and toss your fears away. Made 100% gain? Great! Now go for 10,000% gains!!!

As an experienced user I think it will get rich but in this case it is not an ultra fast process. Be patient and gradually go to the goal. The farther the easier. Do not risk too much because too much to lose. Patience!

Hi,

So having begun researching bitcoin and researching blockchain a bit a bit over the last few days, I'm building up to my first big buy in in a few weeks.  My focus is the long term. I intend to put the majority of my $2000 investment into bitcoin, ether, and ripple, with some others (perhaps neo) on the side.  Is there any reason why doing this now is a bad idea?  Best case scenario for me would be a big crash in the next couple of weeks after which I can buy in cheap, but am I just a sucker buying into the fomo or will my investment at this time go up in the long run, regardless of what short term fluctuations may come?

Would love to know your thoughts. How do your strategies compare?

xo

I think these are good long term investments.

BTC doesnt matter when you buy. I have a friend IRL, whom I told about btc back in 2013. He is waiting for the right moment since then. To this day he never ever bought a satoshi.
Regarding ethereum and ripple I m not convinced that they are reliable long term invistments-but thats just me.

That is my common mistake, to postpone my purchase and regret it later.
Millions did that mistake on Bitcoin.
We will see who win in the end. I mean if bitcoin will succed after 15 years or not.
If yes, it will be worth $50 000 each easily.

You are focusing on long term investments. Then, buy now while it's still at its low price. Im pretty sure you'll get profit since it's for long term investment. Look at bitcoin on its price last year. $2000+. Now compare it to it's current price right now. It's now doubled it's price. Just buy and hold them. Just ignore whatever happens and hold them no matter what. You should buy good for long term. Me, i prefer Ethereum and Bitcoin since they are the most popular and has the biggest market in the cryptoworld.

Bitcoin is dropping since some altcoins on the Chinese exchanges are delisted. This is the right opportunity to buy Bitcoin at a lower price. Bitcoin is a sure money man. That is a fact. Just hold them as long as you can. Ethereum right now is stable. I don't think it will fall down. It will gonna pump soon as many people are waiting for big announcement.

Currently the price is too good for investment, however you need to know more information for trading without loss. Long term is always good, but we need to pay Debts, and for our lifestyle etc.
It's only $2k investment so try 1000 short term and other 1k for long term to see the taste of this Bitcoin.

If price hits $100,000, then price would be find. Or maybe dump to nothing. just invest whatever you are willing to not care about losing

you can't really predict the market
Anyone telling you to buy or not to buy has no idea, they would be rich otherwise

If you feel like investing just do it

if you want a nice profit you should reasearch more about the coin before you purchase .. weell the bitcoin is a agood investment but this is not for a short term you need to wait for the  next months .. if you want a good earning for btc well you should guard the market sell high buy low ... a thousand bucks is 25% profit .. if you were about to invest before monaco komodo ripple veerge was at its best .. but if you want a ssure profit after like 3-6months stick on bitcoin !!!

Thanks for the advice guys.

As to why I might die?  Roll Eyes A bit of hyperbole in reference to my fears of being the guy who goes all in at the peak and being penniless when it comes to the massive slump that many are predicting.

Related: do any of you use dollar-cost averaging? Seems like a decent remedy to my emotional noobie mindset.

What's death got to do with it?
Are you concerned your coin will be lost when you die?
If so create paper wallets and leave them in your will.

When to buy? NOW....

So, why might you die Mr. OP? We all want to know.

Buy bitcoin now before the price goes up again. If you looking for another good coin that will stick around use waves. Waves is similar to eth and also has tokens that use it's platform. Therefore it won't just disappear Because it's a technology in itself which other tokens require to work. You can also find interest leasing out your waves to help supernodes and the nice thing is you still in control control you don't have to make a transfer the waves stay in your wallet.

IMO, there isn't a good time to buy because the "right" time won't come. Since it is for the long  term, just buy it. No point saving hundred bucks but losing thousands.

Good luck pal.

I am alsoe debating wheter I should make my first purchase. But this market can go so fast that you just have to be involved. I knew about bitcoin before I seriously started researching it and I still regret I didn't dig deeper back then. Don't live in regret, if you're planning on holding for a long time (couple of years) then buy now.

Bad idea for Bitcoin? Probably not. There's another fork coming in November which is supposed to create a third "air dropped" currency, so if you own bitcoin before that date you'll get the benefit of that new currency being just given to you (provided you have a wallet that will support it).

Going with a coin that has a lower fiat price offers the potential opportunity for greater price appreciation. Litecoin, Ether, and Ripple all have lower prices and could be poised for more significant growth over the next few years.

It's something to consider! When it doubt, own a few!

It is very good to understand about yourself,
Most people using their emotion to trade, which is why a lot of people lose their money instead of gain the profit from it.

Crypto and other assets are different,
Crypto will always steadily increasing in value and popularity in the next few years later because it has not been implemented yet by people.
So it still have a lot room to grow in the future,it's a good start in my opinion if you want to hold it for a long run,but it would be better if you can read the markets and the traders.

Crypto rule, buy on rumour sell on news.
In coming days or week we will see another downward movement(based on my opinion),if you can spare some cash try to buy it in the coming down.but it is ok if you buy it right now and holding it for a long term,
No matter what will happen in the short run.you will always get profit if you keep it for a long term

That is my common mistake, to postpone my purchase and regret it later. Since you've mentioned that you're in it for the long term, why not buy now and forget it about it as soon as possible? You shouldn't be bothered by the coming weeks or even the coming year if youre in it for the long term. I've waited 3 good years before I let go of my first purchases on bitcoin and now holding a few more for the next 3 years again. If you decided on sticking to it, might as well buy now while the price is taking a beating.
