Hello there,

While I was reading this forum for like a month already, I thought why not join in. I started mining recently with just 45GH.
I heard many stories, read many stories.

Kind regards.

Hi
I am new here as well, and am going to take the opportunity to ride Oswins thread to introduce myself.

I have been aware of bitcoin for a few years and was interested in understanding it as I am a financial advisor, and because of course it is intriguing.
A new perspective on money - we all know that in the history of mankind all manner of items have been invested with value, even where that value is not integral except generally of course it is accompanied by rarity or scarceness. So why not virtual currencies. Gold is simply dug up and then stored again and used for hardly anything except decoration. What ends up being of value is the difficulty associated with making the thing. And alt coins have this by requiring processing power.

I tried to mine BTC just for the hell of it awhile ago but got a bit lost so gave up on that. More recently I gave mining Litecoin a go and have now got things going currently 1 GPU running about 120khashs/s,  although haven't actually received a payment yet. Soon. Its probably not economic but just doing it as a challenge and see what comes of it. I'm an ex Microsoft system admin so know my way around computers but am not a developer level geek.

I have also bought 20 Litecoins on a trading platform I use. Though the position was closed out by the operator at a particular time of the day and apparently this happens every 24 hours , which is weird and expensive, as one has to rebuy the position and effectively paying the spread every day. My intention was to hold for the longer term.

Well that's enough about me  - I have tons of questions of course but will not fire them off until I've read a bit more around this forum, it seems pretty extensive.

Good mining everyone. May your hashrates be high.  Cheesy
