Just a question - how exactly does escrow help when you're dealing with a PayPal transaction that can easily be reversed after the Bitcoins are released? Unless you're planning to hold them for the time necessary to prevent any chargebacks escrow doesn't really work in this instance.

Two ways to scam in a PayPal transaction: 1) Charge back. 2) Receive BTC first, then skip town (ostensibly getting the seller to send as gift, or opening/closing a dispute to make a reversal that much more difficult). Escrowing for a PayPal transaction only protects against the latter scenario, but 50% protection is better than nothing.

I agree. If the OP does not extend a reply in the next few hours I assume he is either trying to scam or my team of highly skilled crypto ninjas have taken him to the holding cells. Cheesy

You're right it is risky, apparently Klye and myself are feeling generous today.

Another thing to consider is that the scammers are often broke, they don't even have the money to escrow in the first place and are simply looking to get some free coin.

And if we don't see the OP coming forth promptly with his deposit, we will know this is the case.

Selflessness isn't seen very often anymore..

I certainly hope the buyer wouldn't charge me back. As I am doing him a favour allowing him to use paypal.

Good guy escrow. Hopefully this works out for all parties.

Well. he can paypal to me. and then me to the seller..
Same goes for the BTC.

So if he does decide to scam.. Only I will get charged back.
In which case. I will hunt him down and shake the money out of him. Wink

I am assuming the risk and allowing the buyer to build up some rep.

That certainly is a unique proposal, I've never heard of an escrow willing to take all the risk. If the deal goes through, hope there isn't any wishy-washy business by the OP at least for your sake.

Also, a person cannot indefinitely perform chargebacks on a verified account without raising suspicions.

True, but it isn't that hard to log in from a different IP and then make the payment and then claim your account was hacked. I don't think they'd bat an eye at preventing what they see as fraud and theft.

How gracious Mr. Kyle. Thank you.

I was also planning to assume the risk.
the amount is low so I'm simply willing to show goodwill and take the risk this time.
If it turns out to be a scam it will be of service to the community to warn against even these trades.
