Hi everyone,

I wasn't receiving email notifications about new posts on here for some reason and just checked this posting today...

I completely understand and agree with you all about the design, I had zero clue about this situation or where the original design came from till now.. I would of or will gladly pay him for use of the design, I just thought it was a copyright free use and downloaded the SVG file from Etsy a long time ago. It was never my intention to do anything nefarious and glad it has been brought to my attention. I will attempt to reach out to him.

Also at the present moment, due to demand and shipping costs etc etc, selling just one coaster isn't plausible for me at the moment. I hope you all understand and I'll let you know if I'm able to make that happen in the future.

Sincerely,
PBA

I have his address information as I recently sent him some free silver and there are 3 of us willing to buy. If you provided a 25% discount on a 4 pack and the other two nice folks were willing to help with shipping to Mick, I’d happily handle getting them distributed. Would do it just for Mick to get something cool in the mail… Let me know if there’s anything we can work out. Would love it if someday Mick’s house was overflowing with all the free goods people send him for using his designs. He deserves it for being a pioneer in this space.

Could you please email me [email protected] or write me on Twitter   @bitcoindesigns   ?? I lost access to this profile and was dealing with numerous personal situations in life & business.  I totally understand where everyone is coming from and that really sucks he was taken advantage of apparently or something of that nature.

Shipping is pretty reasonable because I use a third party vendor called Pirate Ship, a 25% discount would be fine for me, that would cover material, machine time, and shipping. I really appreciate you all understanding and hopefully we can make this happen for Mick!

Thank you!

I've always wondered why this particular design has been the only one being ripped off everywhere, and you mention there's a known story behind this. Would you mind sharing a link or briefly telling this story? I've searched the forum and the web in general but haven't found anything explaining this.

I don't think it's my place to share all the details I know, but Mick is a nice guy.  Maybe someone could reach out to him and see if he wants to spill all the tea relating to how he went from the leader in Bitcoin themed precious metal coins to exiting the business and having his design used all over the internet as the defacto image for Bitcoin collectibles.  I think the lesson to be learned here is to read the fine print and do business with honorable entities.  When I started producing my Bitcoin Binary Rounds (ironically designed by MJB himself) the mint I work with asked me to sign over the rights for them to mass produce my design.  Had I blindly signed everything they asked me to, I would have fallen into the same trap.  Luckily I had Mick's experience to guide me and politely declined signing over the rights to them.  Looking back, it's crazy that businesses would even ask this, but I guess most people just sign and don't read.

believe this is the first time the image was shared by mjb here on the forums - someone correct me if I am wrong.

This is the page where they discuss how the guy who owns Cold Storage Coins (https://coldstoragecoins.com/ ) stole the design, and shouldn't be trusted- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23256.240

A very nice looking product indeed.  OP, did you know that the design you used was created by a member of these forums?  Mjbmonetarymetals created the design back in 2011 and while it is often ripped off for products, I think a great move would be to at least send the guy who's design you're using a free set of your products...  Just a thought.  It's actually a pretty messed up story how this design became used by others, and Mjbmonetarymetals deserves the credit whenever I see this design being used in another new product.  If you wanted to reach out to him, here's his profile: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/mjbmonetarymetals-28640 and he is still out there as I recently sent him some silver as a thank you last time his name was brought up here.

Agree 100%.

Solid looking coaster you got there..and agree with OGNASTY.

Not looking to buy a set, but perhaps one. If that is an option hit me up.

I would be in on one possibly if we can get two more. Boom we split a set of 4. Just a thought.

I’d be in for one so long as we sent the 4th to MJBMonetaryMetals as a gift. Maybe OP could cut us a deal? I would love to see Mick start getting products sent to him for free that utilize his design, as it’s the right thing to do and I’d happily help make that happen if it’s possible without breaking the bank too much. I’d love to normalize giving back to those who inspired your work and this seems like a decent opportunity to do so.

Count me in then. Agree.
