We have waited so many years for something to change anyway, few more years wouldn't make any difference at all. I mean when ethereum first came out that wasn't a big deal, it wasn't even that important of a news neither. However, after the whole famous ethereum and ethereum classic battle, the ethereum one won the battle and they became much bigger.

Nowadays, same thing is going on, it could take years and years and development could be postponed or there could be bugs and abuses and some exploits and what not but in the end when it is all said and done ethereum will once again have a huge skyrocketing difference to its current state. Let's wait for it, no matter how many years it takes.

Ethereum's pivotal redesign, Eth 2.0, is likely still three to five years from execution.
Rather than hurrying into a general redesign, engineers for the open-source blockchain stage are as of now chipping away at a suite of present moment fixes to improve the wellbeing and sturdiness of the system, as indicated by another blog entry at Ethereum.org
What do you guys have to say about this? Many are waiting for this upgrade before bitcoin halving, seems its never going to happen
They are planning many thing at once and it is not that easy to implement everything and rather than creating chaos it is better they implement all these upgrades after proper testing and if the development team is really trying to compete to upgrade everything on a specific time it will back fire big time and it is a billion dollar business too and i hope they will implement the upgrades carefully.

@OP These are the sources for your content and it is better you put that.

Last time I checked the next important upgrades were on track for next year and some analysts and investors have speculated on price increases once these have been implemented, however the entire alternative cryptocurrency market isn't enjoying much appreciation of late, but that should change in the coming months as more media attention is attracted by projects from big brands entering the space

The cryptocurrency market is in a period of decline and people need better news to increase investor confidence. The bad news from ETH developer could deal a blow to the very fragile market today.
PlusToken transferred 789,525 ETH to an unknown wallet address, I think they received a bad news and decided to sell all of that ETH.

This is bad news for the cryptocurrency market in general and for the ETH currency in particular. I think the ETh upgrade may never happen, the development team only provides fake news to stabilize investors. A few days ago, a large number of ETH tokens had just been transferred from the wallet associated with the Ponzi PlusToken program to an unknown wallet. People are worried about a major crash for the ETH coin.

I read that the improvements Ethereum 2.0 were proposed to be introduced on July 30 next year for the fifth anniversary of the existence of this coin or even in a shorter time. It is unlikely that the information is reliable that the implementation of this improvement may drag on for years. Of course, work to improve this coin will continue and engineers will have enough work for many more years.

Too much of anticipation on the upgrade might be worrisome, perhaps for those who are trying to hold and waiting for the announcement to cause a surge in price. The last time we were told that there will be an upgrade, which was around late last year and early this year, but nothing came up, except for failed hopes. I just want to believe that the same will not occur again.

I do not agree with the opinion that it will never happen. If you look at the developments in ETH, the team is always working hard to do better, but obviously this time there were some difficulties. From what I have read, there will be a delay in the expected time for some reason and they need to have an opinion meeting about this. They also know that they can not survive without development. So make sure they will do their best.

Requires a lot of energy and competent in the field of development, I'm not sure if ETH can really reduce the price of bitcoin, but if it is possible, maybe a new history will be created. We always expect the best for cryptocurrency, and minimal controversy.

I am not sure if this update will take place in 2020. Now ETH is in a very difficult position and now they can expect big problems if the cryptocurrency market starts to fall again. this will slow them down for a while longer. maybe at the end of 2020 or at the beginning of 2021 we will still see this update

This is said by the ethereum press service. How things are actually known only to the developers but we are really looking forward to and hope that ethereum will work through the bugs and update.

the engineers actually got it right if they thought not to rush into redesigning everything. they chose to improve in the blockchain sector, and in my opinion it is correct because everything will depend on this from the blockchain. although etherum 2.0 has to wait even longer, in my opinion it doesn't matter, and when it was released to the public, development 2.0 was really effective.

I like the idea of upgrading and adjusting the ETH features, doing this will make ETH stays the second best coin ever and now that many new projects are introducing new features they can beat ETH so better upgrades is very needy

Naturally they did that, aiming to keep ethereum in existence because almost every day a new altcoin appears that might be able to shift the position of Ethereum if they don't do a new innovation.
Moreover, approaching the halving momentum of Bitcoin, of course they have a strategy so that at least some people will still want to use ETH. Because basically everyone wants to have Bitcoin, and altcoin is just one alternative to get that goal. Smiley

Well.. this is like the last nail in the coffin for Ethereum. And this sums up what went wrong with Ethereum, ever since the ATH was achieved some two years ago. The crazy bull run of 2017 left many of the Ethereum developers filthy rich and as a result they lost their interest in further development. Perhaps Vitalik Buterin should fire all these guys and hire some fresh faces to fill the gap.

In my understanding, it doesn't matter how long the eth will upgrade to 2.0 but how much preparation they have so that the updates can really mature and avoid malfunction. The problem is that those who want to try to profit from this eth 2.0 upgrade will be disappointed because the update is not coming fast. I think, a true fan will not think that seriously, they will just let it flow.

This news has not been finalized yet so don't let us make suggestion on the idea yet, i belief vitalik and team, they will definitely deliver at best, things can't be rushed out especially upgrades to avoid bad system upgrade, slowly and steady things will be fine

I trust ethereum team and ceo that they are doing the best to gain the perfect outcome, i know fans will feel disappointed about it but sometimes it always worth all the wait, whatever the case maybe i still choose eth as my number one choice altcoin

the transition to 2.0 still involves two implementations between Casper CBC and casper FFG so that the zero phase is still undergoing adjustments.

the process also requires an optimal point for block validators from version 1.0. This will require more time to form the basis of the planned POS model, unless new modifications arise. Even though it is not perfect in 2020, the community will always respect their steps.

Eth is the most favoured altcoin in crypto space but the price keeps disappointing, the team need to change this for good by now ETH should be trading at 300$ since we are in bear market, ETH deserves more

I know its really hard to maintain and improve the product but this upgrade that take a long years is so irretated, I like ethereum a lot but take a look at the price its continue to falling down I hope ethereum will fixed all the problem and make some bounce from this downtrend.

It will be disappointing if the 2.0 upgrade never happen in 2020, many ICO projects are in low due to ETH low value and if eth can recover its ATH value it will be very profitable, i hope 2020 will benefit us all

I hope such won't happen because i am waiting for ETH better adoption and the Staking feature seem to be the better chance to ETH adoption, it will make sense if the upgrade is complete before bitcoin halving hopefully

They didn't set a specific date or year in the roadmap though. Despite their large and well-funded team, they've been pushing back dates since last year and we shouldn't be surprised if they do it again. It just shows how huge the project is and how serious & careful they are in making all these upgrades/redesigns.

wait, whaaa? i mean, i know alot of my buddies always joked "it will NEVER happen" but geez, 3-5 years? i really thought PoS would be in 2020
i guess i shouldnt be surprised, how long will it take them just to get their new high school teacher CEO up to speed, prob 2 years there alone : /
oh well, more time to accumulate i guess, as i still think it will be a good long term project, just maybe a bit longer till new ATH then originally thought...lol

I don't really anticipate the upgrade but if there are problems with higher priorities that need to be resolved I don't think it's wrong considering that this upgrade is a massive one and there are possibly so many problems going to happen, it just needs more time to work.
It's better to have a fully working system in the future rather than half-baked upgrade that could possibly mess the whole thing. Though, it will lose all the hype if the delay is too long, therefore, made a little impact to market, price wise.

what will be doing by ethereum is not only upgrading the protocol but that means re-design all of the ethereum structure without eliminated the features that already exist. I thought that if those people understand if that will take a few years for ethereum to complete all of the updates. Remember ethereum has an intention to change its consensus to the POS.
with the large scale of blockchain and so many users there and that's why ethereum must give a proper design to make sure if the update will not bring ethereum to the failed project.
that's it usual thing to see that happen with the large scale of blockchain like ethereum.

You have to understand that the upgrades and code improvement is an ongoing and lengthy work, just be sure that the main new version will be launched soon and then the partial improvements and upgrades will be added later and the process will continue this is normal for such a large scale public blockchain and smart contracts network.

I don't think it was even mentioned like that by the project team member. Its just extrapolation of the information from the interview. Its very hard to believe if that is the case.
