1) I think that the contrast between women and men in Islamic culture is striking.
The girls — especially if they wear hijab — are nice, polite, a little timid and somewhat submissive. They will usually treat you well, for example as shop attendants.
The men and boys sometimes act as if they have no limits, talk loudly, use the street as if they own it, and will hang around in groups. Sometimes they like to threaten others or make fun of them. When you see a Muslim mother with little sons and daughters, it seems the sons are allowed to do as they please, and the daughters are kept on a short leash. I guess that explains why the adult young women are so friendly and service-minded. They are educated to serve and care about others, to care for the men.
2) I wonder whether they chose the headscarf by themselves, or were forced to wear it. But after asking some, and getting used to seeing it, it appears to me that most of them have chosen it freely. I still suspect that their free choice, in some cases, can be subject to group pressure or pressure form male family members. But I accept their choice.
3) I wonder if they just wear it because it is important to themselves, or as a symbol to show to the world. And is it in order to show other Muslims that they are pious, or is it in order to show non-Muslims that they insist on their faith?
In all aspects, it is a much more visible symbol than a necklace or the Jewish kippah.
although i like and prefer the islamic concept of god better than the christian one, there are still some issues with muslims and their fixation towards certain form of corporation and organisation
you muslims have a cultural horizon of medieval people, this cultural fixation makes you drift away from being muslims becoming actually just mohammedanians being fixed on arab desert medieval culture.
women can be promiscuitive and run a state themselves with the men being completely passive. it depends how the culture is designed.
i dont mind if muslims want to live their medieval dress code. but dont wonder if others use artificial wombs to secure mass scale reproduction instead of married women.... they therefore breed and maintain a form of human that is more corporative. i dont mind muslims living their way, but other ways are also possible and you have to just live next to them.
i personally prefer women to be strong and to work, and to engage in life instead of beeing a breeding servant for men.
