Buttcoin is The Daily Show for bitcoin, in blog format. The regulars there are not your garden variety ignorant haters; they generally understand Bitcoin from a big picture angle far better than the typical /r/Bitcoin, /r/bitcoinmarkets and the crowd on this site as well.
I think the bottom line for understanding /r/Buttcoin is that most of them are clearly former (and even current) enthusiasts who understand the protocol and the community quite well, and are more critical than enthusiastic as a result of that understanding.
Like ex-Mormons or Scientologists or the formerly religious turned consciously atheistic people tend to be in general.
They understand that however feasible or infeasible the protocol itself may be, the protocol and the community attracted to it are inseparable components of "Bitcoin", and consequently that actions of one cannot function independently of or be reconciled without respect to the other. The skepticism is thus not aimed so much at the protocol itself as it is at the intentions and incentives or certain toxic factions within the community who publicly cheer the whole movement on, while using the protocol as a shield to obfuscate their abuse of the movement for their own benefit.
The sub is gaining quite a lot of attention in the past few months, and unfortunately that means quality will suffer over time as more me-too types show up. But right now it is in a sweet spot, a gilded age funded by mining the /r/bitcoin sub and the wider community for its limitless veins of Comedy Gold.

I imagine can't be a very good sign that this crypto ecosystem is all that healthy (if anyone needed any more signs of that).
Let's all hope 2015 will mark a reversal, for alts and blockchain tech in general if not for bitcoin in particular, which is looking pretty far gone these days.
You need to spend more time on that sub - those aren't even very funny compared to what's usually there.
Hilarious & often more technical (albiet about as objective) as what you will find in /r/bitcoin or bitcointalk
Yes, it is surprisingly equal parts substantive and funny. It's a healthy reality check, for sure.
