Thank you for your illustration. Imo I think there is more to your explanation as regard to the behaviours of the animals in relation to the bullish and bearish market. Put into consiration how long it takes for each animal to enter fight and or the style the use to end the fight. If this knowledge is gotten, we can easily know when the bearish or bullish sell will end. It will also help one to be able to make money by following a bullish trend in a bearish market and vice versa.

I'm not sure how definitive your estimation of bear and bull being based off the animals fully as "bear" actually looks similar to "fear" too (and a fearful market is normally a dropping one)...

The definitive estimation is that a good trader can make profit from both bear and bull run. A dropping market does not depict losses but also an opportunity to put your bucket and get it filled just like bull also. Just to identify the trend.
Reference below from thread:

The most important of them is that we take advantage of such price movements to make profits.

Yes you have the essence, I ended the thread that way. Bull and bear are different direction of the market to make profit.

Thanks to @stompix for linking the history. It seems Op should quote the content link for this thread so it can easily read by many.

There is link at the top of the thread, guess you didn't see that.

That's the screenshot and the link marked on read

Actually I am quite curious about the bear and bulls and how these animals were used as reference to the current status of market. But good thing this has been raised here and gladly seen the history.

For every market there is an opportunity. And you know what when I was still a newbie, I just kept reading bulls and bears. What I've easily understood is that I've compared when most of the people from different forums and social medias say that we're on the bearish market, I've checked CMC and saw that everything is bleeding and the opposite was concluded that it's the positive or greener days. I didn't know that much of technicalities until I've learned a little by little.

Nice write up OP, I just went back in memory lane were I recalled all this you have explained when I was learning forex and trying to get an understanding of what all these terms meant in forex.

Interesting to see that others don't agree but like  stompix said these explanations could be the lazy simple way of explaining these terms and tbh the explanations work!!

I thought that the reason for the name is the reactions of these animals. The bull, when aroused, will raise its horns in the air, while the bear is stretched all day long, lying on its stomach and sliding down. Smiley
In general, the label has many interpretations and stories, but it is associated with those animals and the movement of the market. The most important of them is that we take advantage of such price movements to make profits.

Finally, a trader can make good profit from either kind of the market. The myth around bear for losses is not true if you spot your bear and sell.
it's not a myth. If one is spot trader especially chaps who would like to buy and hold for some time or few months and don't even bother about reasonable stop losses you can actually make huge losses with crypto. How I wish you were around during the bear trend that followed the 2017 bull market

Therefore, in relation to the market direction, bear means market plunging downwards and this is tied to the animal bear. The animal bear usually go attacking this way.

Actually, that's the lazy explanation for people who want simple things.
In reality, the terms have nothing to do with the way those animals attack as bulls are also pushing you with their horns when you're on the ground they don't jump around in reality like they do in WB cartoons.

The bear market is pretty simple, it's about selling the skin of the bear before you have actually caught it, just like some selling stocks you don't own, shorter in a bear market, the one about bulls came about the same way, describing a horde of investors eager to buy and both settled as it was preferred by journalists when making comparisons, looked better and was far simpler to differentiate.

Same here I don't no the basis of how the name came about but if it was animal then both words -bull and bear -should stand for the same thing.
Yes trader a good one at that can earn profit from their Trading even at the bull market, but for trading in general people are excited about it all more during a bull run, I had so many people taking up Trading course I am also in more during the bull run, but when things came down their number dropped as well, I think when the market is at bull season their is a flourish Especially for newbies traders.

You CAN trade against the market. It doesn't cause too much of a problem if the strategy is good for spotting mini trend changes.

Bull and bear markets do have components of each in each other too and there's a point where a market could be considered potentially bullish if enough equity and people are buying compared to the sellers (not just when the trend has changed).

Bull and bear

Bear and bull in trade market (both Forex and cryptocurrency) is linked to animals and that is due to their behaviour in attacking an opponent

In the first place too , the history of their names is significant to the way they launch an attack during a fight.

Looking at the name bear: A bear, bears are carnivoran mammals of the family Ursidae.

A bull is an intact (i.e., not castrated) adult male of the species Bos taurus. More muscular and aggressive than the females of the same species.

Both of these animals are known for strength and power

Therefore, in relation to the market direction, bear means market plunging downwards and this is tied to the animal bear. The animal bear usually go attacking this way.

Facts about bear and bull market

Both defines power and strength.

You need to identify the particular direction of market, either bullish or bearish

You can take advantage of both kinds of market to make profit
by employing the right strategy.

None is preferred or better than the other in the real aspect of it while in trade.

There is a little bit of bull in bearish direction and a little bit of bear in bullish direction.

You will be swallowed up if you trade in opposite direction.

Finally, a trader can make good profit from either kind of the market. The myth around bear for losses is not true if you spot your bear and sell.

So trade with care and use stoploss.
