so it's very clear that the HW Hito Project is still not fully finished and there is still a lot to improve and explain publicly.

Thus, we can not say for certain  whether this product is just a  "bait and switch" or the real project.  In fact we know nothing  about HIto, attractive image of it is just  a goose egg.  That is why I would advocate to refrain from pre-order  action on their shop site and pay attention to real HW devices that already exist.

thanks @FatFork for the full review, you really know about the history of hito from the beginning to the present.
It seems that it is clear what is HW hito's problem and has not been resolved until now.
The pre-sale is too long and not updated and the Open Source Claim Chain is criticized by everyone, not only in this forum but in the Telegram group there are also many who criticize the Open Source code.

Hito Pre-Order Shipping Update:

What's more, the Bitcoin network will also be added, but it's still not clear enough.

And thanks to all the members who have reviewed this Hw Hito, I just found that I have never heard of it before.
But it turns out that this is a long-standing Project, and certainly took advantage of the bull market to market their products again.

hito claims to be a hardware wallet focused on NFTs, and if they were in the pre-sale stage in 2021 and 2022, when anything related to NFTs could be sold easily, then will definitely not be able to sell them in 2024.
I went through some archival of the site and found that in 2018 it was a Chinese site, and in late 2021 it was for sale for $1,495, so it appears that they bought the domain to make it appear that the service was older.

It's very detailed, so it's very clear that the HW Hito Project is still not fully finished and there is still a lot to improve and explain publicly.

Funny thing is, near as I can tell, Hito's always been on pre-sale and you still can't actually buy one.  No clue if thats just how they operate, but seems to me they oughta update their site with expected shipping dates. Their website's delivery info is a year out of date!  Still promising a "second batch of beta-devices" in late May 2023?  Get real.  They should at least give a realistic timeline if they expect anyone to take them seriously.

Discover the new hito Hadrware Wallet that is already Open Source.
With a 2-inch Full Color Touch Screen that is more convenient to use for NFTs than Stax's Ledger.
I know about Hito wallet but they are in pre-sale phase for way to long... and I think they are mostly focused on NFT with their color screen, and on altcoins with metamask wallet.
They claim to be open source but that was never released in public, so we can only speculate
Things that I do like is quality materials used in Hito device, like tempered glass and metal, similar like it is used in high-end smartphones.
Price of $125 is not bad, but it all looks like unfinished beta project to me.

I get pretty skeptical when a crypto wallet company says their software is open source but then does not actually share the source code.  That just seems fishy.  It makes me wonder what they are trying to hide if the code is really open source like they claim.  There wouldnt be any reason not to post it somewhere public, right? If independent experts cannot review the code, how can we actually know if the wallet is secure or not? That kind of opacity around the source just rubs me the wrong way when it comes to trusting a wallet and  Id be way more likely to trust one where the codes easy to access.

I did some research on the configuration that you posted OP. What is interesting to me here is that being an open source they have not verified their code. They have not mentioned the battery life as for me it is one of the important aspects of a hardware wallet. What about the touchscreen? With a screen such big which is 2 inches what kind of screen are they using? Are they susceptibility to physical attacks and are they durable with the kind of screen being used? When I pay $125 I will need more information before I come to a conclusion. Please do not ask me to visit the website and check the details as it is you who have introduced this new hardware wallet and you should answer the question being asked on your thread.

Yeah, looks a bit fishy for me. They claimed it is open source and I have wasted  time  trying to find its code on github but failed, there is no such stuff there. They urge for pre-oders on their shop site but even discount there ("Regular price£121.00 GBP Sale price£101.00 GBP" ) didn't  lend my credibility to this wallet. Thus I would refrain from proceeding further.

Hito wallet is not exactly a new kid on the blockchain. They announced it at various events since 2021, it was featured in a Techcrunch article in 2022, and mentions all over the media portals.

Then, sometime in 2022, they did a company switcheroo - Hito Gmbh became Hito Inc., moved their offices to U.S., and ditched their old websites (hito.io and gethito.com) for a brand new one (hito.xzy).

Cold wallet and NFC support is a bad combination. Hardware wallet owners usually prefer to reduce the parts that may connect to the Internet to a minimum.

They claim it's open source but the code hasn't been published, what's hosted at https://github.com/hito-xyz/docs is an explanation of how the wallet works.
Hito-xyz's side projects were forking MetaMask, so I assume that the wallet code is similar to MetaMask and has not been updated for several months, which means there may be software vulnerabilities.
You must download the latest firmware which is closed source https://fota.hito.xyz.

Hito wallet is closed source, firmware is closed source, and with $125 USD I wouldn't consider buying it, everything about this wallet is so bad.
