I totally agree with you. Bitcoin is boosting up. Whenever I think that this is the highest price of Bitcoin and now it will not rise, the next moment it surprises me with a huge jump. Two days before I sold some of my Bitcoin's as I thought that 8000$ is a very good price but now I am regretting because the price has reached 9000$ mark.So yes holding is the best decision and you should only sell your BTC's whenever there is actually a need to sell it otherwise keep on holding.

Yeah sell it only if you need money or else hold your bitcoins for a long term to get higher profits and even I sold some of my coins at $8k price as I thought that was the good price to sell bitcoins and it also gave me good profits but I am not regretting on it as price movements is a common thing in bitcoins and I am happy that I made some profits by selling it at that price.

I am not at all tempted to cash out profits if we do happen to reach the $10,000 level, because I have been holding my coins in a solid manner without caring about crashes, corrections, pumps, fud attacks, etc. I have long term goals that I plan to achieve with Bitcoin, so that means if I sell any of my coins before reaching these goals, it will never feel like I have done something I am satisfied with. Regardless of the correction that we may experience sooner or later, it is good to understand that it will only be a short term happening causing the market to take a few steps back. The demand is so strong, that the market will bounce back up again.

Bitcoin over 500k$? It may take a while to reach this goal, if we ever reach it.
I believe in bitcoin, so I think it'll raise more. I also think in the future we'll be able to use it as a currency, i.e. buy things without the need to convert to $ or € first. It's already possible, but in a very few stores only.

I am holding for sure. At this moment I don't need the coins because i had them invested for my pension which isn't for another 20years. So I am happy to hold for at least 5 more years.

By then I will see what the price of bitcoin will be.

So, it's going to get hard, now obviously but don't get got. Bitcoin IS going to go well over 500,000$ and honestly it might always be a bad choice during the duration of you lifetimes to ever convert your bitcoins back to clamshells, fiat or whatever your country offers. Don't do that.

HODL!

Smiley It's ALWAYS been a bad choice to sell bitcoin (in the history of Bitcoin) and it always will be. I truly want what's best for you loyal bitcointalk'ers and that's keeping your Bitcoin.
So you are also a believer of Jamie Dimon? I'm looking at that rate to happen but base on the current situation right now we are still far from that price. But if someone believes that $500,000 will be for real in the upcoming years then just keep on holding. I did sold my bitcoins before but still I have some coins on held and will just keep it for real.

You're right men, I currently experiencing post sell syndrome (lol). If I did not used those bitcoins on gambling and investing on hyip sites before and if I did just hold those coins that I received from the start up until now then I might be rich now too Cry

Guess nemesis has started catching up with not only you but a lot of the impatient guys out there who ceased every opportunity to sell, ridicule and run down bitcoin because they've all been proven wrong and bitcoin keeps getting better after each seeming fall in value.
Its just a normal reaction for those who missed the opportunity as they think that bitcoin will just stay at its current value when they have it its a year of fast moving in terms of value even there's a lots of issue that has been raised over and over but still bitcoin manage to go high. Just keep holding what I have inside my wallet for me its the the better choice.

There is no doubt that just holding BTC get us nice profit over the years, and anybody who sold before is certainly not happy about it.I fully agree that now is not the time for sale because we all expect prices to go higher up.But someone who has a large amount of BTC will not hold all coins endlessly, especially if they were bought very cheaply. If I have 100 BTC I would sell at least 10% at 10k$ and spent on some nice things.

At some point most of us will sell,it's just a matter of time and the price we want to sell.

Soon 1$ would be equal to 1 satoshi or even lesser. By the time that happens fiat had run its course of bubble. Government might also become obsolete, and we're going to a significant degree of autonomy.

If your prediction will happen soon then the transaction fee became huge hehehe then earning bitcoin will be difficult its not easy to predict the price of bitcoin.
Like OP said its better to hold your bitcoin than to sell them all because the price now are unstoppatble and hit its all time best 9k$ hold and hold for better future:)

Yes it is not everybody desire to exchange bitcoin to fiat but to hodl it is due to financial circumstances beyond one's control at times warrant such a decision, particularly we third world countries where there is high rate of unemployment, I have no regret to exchange BTC to fiat because I have so many bills to settle considering the fact that our monthly salaries is less than $200.

Will always HODL some BTC and I think it will stay as the biggest crypto investment. However, I doubt it'll ever be again more than 40-50% of my portfolio. If Bitcoin goes 10 fold or 50 fold one day, I think there're some alts that have gone 100 or 500 fold by then. Time will tell!

you need to reach a balance between only holding until the end of your life and holding until you are filled with fear and dump everything. and sadly people sometimes seem to be one of these two not anything in the middle! there is always a big ground in the middle which you can walk too. you buy some and then price goes 10x higher you sell some of it like 0.1 of total to get your initial investment out and have the pure profit in.
yeah that 10% may one day worth millions but at the same time what would you do if price never went higher.

It is indeed a very wise choice to hold all your funds for the moment , and anything else would be complete nonsense and total waste of the potential value that your coins could make with bitcoin breaking record after record in terms of trading flux , market cap and transactions activity .
Despite speculating that bitcoin might reach 500k dollars is too optimistic in my opinion , it proved it's capability to cross every limit and amaze every user and i won't be amazed if it crosses the 10k bar by the end of 2018 .
But with every feeling of enthusiasm a glimpse of realism must be present to make us keep our feet on the ground .

Holding is absolutely the best thing to do because it is really expected that its market value will be more expensive in the future, and holding at thid moment rather than selling will surely yield to huge profit in the future ad its market value becomes higher each and everyday. So if you want to earn huge profit we should HOLD.

Wait a minute, Will!

If you don't sell, don't spend and just hold...what's the meaning of having Bitcoin? It may reach one million $ per unit, but if you don't sell, don't spend and don't use it in some way, you will end to be metaphysically rich. Maybe you will take your Bitcoin wallet in the grave, with you.

I got into the accumulate & hold mindset in last august. I sold all my crypto in that month (100% alts) and decided to start from 0 with holding as the main objective while abandoning day-trading completely. However, as the cryptoworld is still utterly dominated by speculators and lots of 'dumb' money is currently flowing in, the resulting ups & downs in the value of crypto could still shake out a lot of would-be holders.

This year has been great for bitcoin in terms of returns but at some point we will have a bear market. I predict many people crying by then, and selling their bitcoins due to panic.

Yep. It's hard to resist selling at a 500% profit when a crash appears to be around the corner. Not even sure if I could resist the temptation myself!

I guess everyone who had been using bitcoin knows that selling is usually bad , cause yeah bitcoin has been trending up except some few points were the price went extremely low
so there is no point in giving advice , when people want to cashout they don't need someone to remind them about that fact
and in theory too you should never exchange your bitcoin to fiat even if it hits 1 million dollar ?? right ?? cause it will keep getting higher  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yeah, in around some days , bitcoin price is increasing rapidly. I think it will reach a good position. The price of it will be increasing continuously. So selling bitcoin is not right decision. Buying and holding for long term is good decision for making huge profit.

You must be very naive to believe that. No asset increases continuously by the simple fact that when returns get high people sell to cash their profits. Also, many news can draw bitcoin price downwards. And bear in mind that with CME futures and other products hedge funds will be able to bet against bitcoin, thus drawing down the price.

This year has been great for bitcoin in terms of returns but at some point we will have a bear market. I predict many people crying by then, and selling their bitcoins due to panic.

But most of bitcoins I have I can't prove they have a legit origin and therefore can't be spent unless in small amounts over time. What would be the point to have a fortune but don't be able to spend it?

Even a single bitcoin would be too much to cash out fully, if the price indeed reaches 500k dollars

Having the Bitcoin is to have a fortune, as soon as you convert it to Fiat, it's not longer 'a fortune'. In Satoshi we trust.

there are times when selling bitcoin is not a bad idea at all. you don't have to sell everything the same way you don't have to go all in! for example there are times you need money, you can sell some small portion like 10% to get that money and enjoy your long term profit.
there are also times when you speculate a drop, like back when the BCH drama started during the SegWit2x cancellation. and then by doing that you will have more money to buy back at the bottom and have more bitcoin.

Yea folks have been saying that since it was 36 cents. It's always been a bad choice and it will ALWAYS be a bad choice to sell. You will feel like an idiot when it hits >1 million dollars no matter what your justification was for selling it.
