I know this. Well, if you have patience, and can withstand the bitcoin you have, I guess it becomes very easy. But, when bitcoin prices fall slightly, it will be very much a trial in terms of holding bitcoin. Although you know, that in the future bitcoin prices will be higher.

At some time It will be time to cash out and I hope that day will be soon.

Short term speaking, the correction is imminent. I already cashed out some profits between $3950-$4050 today, and I am looking to cash out more profits one day before the activation of Segwit becomes reality. People that aren't interested in cashing anything out, which is quite understandable, can just continue with holding. For those interested in some short term buy back action, cashing out profits just before or after activation is the best thing to do. I still think back about those I was telling not to sell anything at the time the price was tanking below the $1900 level last month. I hope for them that they either didn't end up selling, or they at least bought back their coins at a premium back then.
I think that's smart.  Never anything shameful in taking a profit.  Me, on the other hand,  I don't have much bitcoin and what I have wasn't bought or earned at a low price, so I'm going to hold.  Nothing wrong with that either in my view.  But boy, I really wish I'd saved all that bitcoin I bought at $400 or so.  That stings a bit.

I've been holding bitcoin long enough. And right now for me, is to start enjoying results of struggle from holding. Bitcoin has created alot money for me, i can buy new SUV. This became a proud achievement for me, thus motivating myself to deeper bitcoin.
Your result looks very good mate, But the long term method already become a trend in this time. Bitcoin is the best choice to do that but another seems to be a good way too.
That was indeed the crypto just for the long term hold. I already buy a house and new car from that.

It turns out that many of those who have succeeded in bitcoin in relatively easy way, and if looking at the work method by holding bitcoin is good alternative as long-term investment and proven effective though with trading can quickly produce bitcoin but has a risk of loss.

It is good i agree with you just buy bitcoins and seriously forget it don't do anything with it just forget it the price will increase by it's own there are people whonare demanding bitcoins , exchanges are been opened in every country exchnages are expanding media is educating people more about bitcoin it's just these things which push the price
Investing in Bitcoin for a long term is a good investment, many people buy it and forget about it and then few years later they found out that they had earn a lot of profit and some become millionaire, so holding Bitcoin is a good option especially in this few years where the price rally is so fast, do not sell your coin unless you see the opportunity to earn more or you need the money

Holding is good but I do think a correction is coming. I will just hold because you never know for sure these days especially. So holding might be the best thing to do in the long run.
If you're not interested in trading in whatever form, there is absolutely no reason to get bothered by a correction. If the price is able to increase significantly in a short period of time, then it can go down that easy as well.

That being said, if you like to have the opportunity to buy back at discount levels, it doesn't hurt to liquidate some of your freshly made profits to enlarge your fiat position.

I too believe a correction is due this month, but there are no guarantees. In order to make sure you won't regret having sold, just cash out a small fraction of your profits ~ I mostly stick to batches of 10% at most.

I sold some when the price way back at $2,700 but I knew that it is going to pump and now we are too far from before. I don't want to say sorry for myself for rushing things out and selling just for the profit. Taking profit is good and it's not a loss if we ever did sold it earlier.

With bitcoin,  holding is one among the key factor that provides good profit for the user. Before holding one needs to make a analysis whether the holding is long term or short term. Majority of the users do long term holding with bitcoin whereas use the altcoins for the in between use.
Holding bitcoin was depending on the users, yeah your right it is need of deep analysis if you hold it for long time or you sell it. Because sometimes instead we earn income they earn lost due to greediness. They want to earn high value even the price of bitcoin is enough to sell.

Indeed, any stockpileer is happy for their decision, their trust in bitcoin has paid off as the value of bitcoin has grown tremendously. It made me feel stunned.
And if the same kind of growth keeps on happening for the upcoming years then we will also be fruitfully rewarded for the patience.
My aim is to hold 10 BTC in my wallet for 20 straight years and then spend or do whatever I feel like doing with my bitcoins.

It made me feel stunned.

I'm definitely proud of what we have achieved so far, but I am not stunned. From the very first days of me entering the Bitcoin world, it was obvious that the price would only go up in the long term, and that's exactly what has happened. I have no doubt about the price to increase further in the coming years. Don't forget that Bitcoin in its current form is still extremely small compared to other assets in the world. I was extremely bullish back in the days, and I will remain that in the coming years.

I think holding is a great idea. I've got a wallet paper wallet put up that I won't touch until after the halving in 2020 that i've been sending coins to for a while. Hopefully it will be worth it in the long run
That's a perfect plan. In my opinion you'll be profited much, it's good if you have an additional wallet to hold a very little amount for your emergency requirement. So that even if such situation prevails to can manage and doesn't need to withdraw from the wallet that you are using to hold the bitcoins till the next halving.

It takes too much time if we are waiting for more years to save bitcoin if you dont sell bitcoin right now you are wasting the opportunity to make profit this day since the price right now are really high .. and i think sooner the price of bitcoin will crash back soon so if you want to make profit right now better to sell and wait for the price crash to buy more bitcoins again and wait for days to sell them again once the price is increase again back..

The only problem with holding coins is that you might be hindering Bitcoin adoption by doing so.

I wonder why holding Bitcoin hinders the coin adoption?  We all know it is not the actual coins that is needed for Bitcoin adoption, people should learn it first, and by that advertisement and promotion plays the biggest part in this.  Besides there are still coins that are mined and miners are willing to part with some of their mined coins to cover their expenses.  I guess holding is not an issue here.

When people won't use their coins to buy goods or services then how businesses will know that bitcoin is popular and embrace it?

There are lots of strategy so that merchants can make people part with their bitcoins.  By offering discounts and sales promotion, people will be tempted to use their BTC to avail for those promotion.  This will certainly show that bitcoin is popular and should be valued since many people are willing to spend more just to have it.

If this situation continue then in the future everyone will be owning BTC but nobody will be using it.

It would be a rare case where bitcoin won't be spent.  And it is an absolute non-sense that nobody will  use Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is currency, and a good store of value, when time come that the saturation level of adoption is met,  people will then realize that the price of bitcoin had reached its limit and will sell their coins to get  profit.  So definitely, someone have to use it for either personal gain or emergency scenario.

What a nonsense. People holding their coins play a very important role as they greatly contribute towards the current price. People holding means that their coins are off the market, and thus there are less tradable coins available on exchanges. In current times, it results in the price to go up as the demand increases, where the availability of coins is decreasing as more people are willing to hold their coins. See anyone complaining about current price?

When people won't use their coins to buy goods or services then how businesses will know that bitcoin is popular and embrace it?
Merchants don't embrace Bitcoin. They embrace third party payment processors that do everything for them.

If this situation continue then in the future everyone will be owning BTC but nobody will be using it.
Again, more people holding results in a higher eventual price. Just to note, regardless of the price, people will continue to use Bitcoin. Usage is more than only people spending their coins in online stores...

Seeing the development and adoption of Bitcoin, i can say holding is best option for now.  There are an upcoming smart contract, a possible reverse decision about ETF, Japan creating a massive demand through adoption of Bitcoin, Russia accepting Bitcoin by 2018,  West Virginia thinking of considering Bitcoin as money, and if ever scalability issue is fixed, what else would you expect? Selling bitcoin now would be selling it at a lost if we look at this scenario in the future.  so holding for another 5 or 10 years would be best for me.

I haven't been doing anything other than hodling. I am not really fixed on targets as I want to keep hodling and doing some trading to gain some extra coins on the way up.

I am lucky that I have a decent paying job, which means that for me there is no real need to convert any of my coins to fiat. If it stays like this, then I will keep hodling for many more years.

Why would I convert something so precious to something so not precious as fiat? If you think logically, it makes absolutely no sense.

that is good for as you can make big profit because you bough a year ago. and not just for bitcoin that is good for hold because i think altcoin can be good if we can hold as long as we can. the altcoin price will be higher from time to time like bitcoin and its a good chance for us to hold some of altcoin so in the right time, when the price is increase we can sell our altcoin to reach the profit.

But let's be honest, people who have bought Bitcoins at 1000$ also hav made the profit, right? When the price is so high of course holding is good Wink But why the price is soo high, can someone explain me? Please. I want to buy btc but when the price is under than $1600/btc, how someone can invest in it?  Undecided

Huge adoption over bitcoin is the reason to see the continuous increase in the bitcoin price chart. Segwit and BU also passive pull ups for bitcoin to grow everyday. Simply do not think that bitcoin bump only reason to take hold the bitcoin.
This bitcoin holding is global truth to grow your bitcoin value which is in your wallet. So do it always and buy it from localbitcoins.

Im not a fan of hodling too much. I see that it's more profitable if we will able to buy and dump when there is an ongoing price increase or decrease within a large margin and it happened many times now. And not just that, I value time so the reward I got during the passed years is decent compare if I just only hold coins and watch those dramas associated with it. Im not satisfied with triple the value earnings but tooks 2-3 years of holding.

We really have different views on how we will takes actions of our coins. If we found our own views or strategy is effective then stick with it and don't mind other's strategy but look at them as reference.

It is. I have combined holding with some occasional trading to increase the number of coins that I have, and I can only look back happily. If I look at my wealth in Bitcoin, and compare that with my fiat savings, then due to current increase, the ratios are -- 60% BTC and 40% fiat. I wouldn't be surprised to sit on 75% BTC and 25% fiat after a few years. It's just the beginning, don't forget that.

By that time $4000 per bitcoin will sound cheap.
it's quite a long time friend. But I think if you sell it at this time it will have gained a big advantage. We'll see some exchange has reached 1500USD. This is one of the highest bitcoin price records. We all look forward to the best going on bitcoin.

This is just a beginning. With Japan proposing a bill for nationwide acceptance of bitcoin. Demand is already increasing and hence the price. Maybe more countries follow the trend. Bitcoin has long to go. People should atleast wait till the end of the year. It is speculated that it will reach $2000 by the end of the year. So it is better to wait.

I know lot of people must be selling seeing such high price but i believe this is just the beginning.Bitcoin will still go up as always once many other countries like japan officially legalize it.I am motivated and will hold bitcoin for long time.

I already tripled my bitcoin [usd equivalent] that i bought a year ago by just HOLDING. Smiley

What do you guys doing now HODLING or SELLING? and if HODLING then what's your objective how long will you HODL?

So lucky for placing much trust on bitcoins + flactuation and see some good results from now on but for me i doesn't have any hodl coin for now since i sell it already when i need some immediate money for that moment but for now i will try to hodl what i have and let see how things could go and maybe same as you i can earn triple of my hodl coin in future.

That is a real stinky situation!  Grin just playin!

I bought most of my bitcoins at $300. I never sold a coin and I will continue to hold at least till the next block reward halving in 2020.
By that time $4000 per bitcoin will sound cheap.

2020 is still so long to wait. You can more profit if you do a day trading for that long time span. I think you are currently tons of bitcoin because you bought it on cheap price. I buy too some bitcoin at that price but I do altcoin trading that's why I have more profit compared to the potential that I will get by just holding. Risking is worth trying.
