What's the story with this one?  Is there a story?

I think it all started with this thread..

and it's becoming quite famous

Haha thanks for sharing that I've never read the OP of that thread.

Strangely, all these replies seem to have never made it into my "new replies" page.  I'm just catching up on all this great info now.  But for the moment, Katsou, why'd you correct my sotry spelling?  Didn't you get it?  Smiley

Some more funny spelling mistakes (made on purpose?):
ASIC -> ASCI
ETF -> EFT
Winkewoss -> Winklewii

It's funny because it sort of shows stupidity and when it's pretended it's just an inside joke on people like falllling. Also, ignorant readers will catch it on and perhaps start to make the same mistake without knowing it.

Winklewii isn't so much a spelling mistake, it's a humorous plural of Winklewoss (there being two of them).

I guess because their name when said out allowed sounds similar to words ending in -us, many of which have a plural ending -i.  (Why spelling it -ii rather than -i, I don't know - makes no sense to me.  Maybe just because the best know such word is radius/radii, or maybe something to do with the Wii?  Who knows)

I type d that tyitle twice because I knew it was wrong the first time.  Still wrong.  w/e.  GF's out at a lesbian bar, BTC crashing WHY AM I HOLDING? I'LL TELL YOU WHY.  It's because I'm a bad trader and I KNOW I'M A BAD TRADER.  Yeah you good traders can spot the highs and the lows pit pat piffy wing wong wang just like that and make a millino bucks sure no problem bro.  Likewise the weak hands are like OH NO IT'S GOING DOWN I'M GONNA SELL he he he and then they're like OH GOD MY ASSHOLE when the SMART traders who KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING buy back in but you know what?  I'm not part of that group.  When the traders buy back in I'm already part of the market capital so GUESS WHO YOU'RE CHEATING day traders NOT ME~!  Those taunt threads saying "OHH YOU SHOULD HAVE SOLD" YEAH NO SHIT.  NO SHIT I SHOULD HAVE SOLD.  I SHOULD HAVE SOLD MOMENTS BEFORE EVERY SELL AND BOUGHT MOMENTS BEFORE EVERY BUY BUT YOU KNOW WHAT NOT EVERYBODY IS AS COOL AS YOU.  You only sell in a bear market if you are a good day trader or an illusioned noob.  The people inbetween hold.  In a zero-sum game such as this, traders can only take your money if you sell.

so i've had some whiskey
actually on the bottle it's spelled whisky

In a time of dropping bitcoin prices, low moral accross the board, this post really brought some light and perceptive back on the situation

I see this all the time in this board "HODL".  I get it that sometimes we on the internet spell things funny and a typo can catch on (for example, "teh", inter alia).  What's the story with this one?  Is there a story?  What about a sotry?

Yeah it's essentially a bitcointalk meme. I think it's pretty funny.

I'm guessing it's just a quirk that caught on. Like cutting your 'loose'. I actually find that funnier because it sounds silly when read out loud.

Anyone know where this one first started? I often see a lot of funny misspellings and/or broken English on here.

"cutting your loose" started with user fallllling and his infinite trollage that turned into reality. He's obviously not native English speaking, so he spelled it as it sounds
