This, from minute 1, is a clear SCAM
from minute 1, meaning person below?

www.hongkongasics.com is a link that was shared with me... the site says they "assemble" ASICs and are shipping them now, does this mean they just use Avalon or someone else's chips?

Also, does anyone have any experience buying from them? Their prices seem reasonable, but I am afraid to make the dive and actually try to buy some w/ no knowledge of them.
who share link with you?

I sure could do that! But i thought they were using one of those virtual offices?? where they have a physical address and even a receptionist but it shared by at least 30 other companies? I could give it a shot though.

Were you able to established their exact location?

Basically they are shielded behind Gmail, so only Google could trace them I guess. Tracing their website would seem easier and has already been attempted here. I'm not willing to waste my energy on this, but I would get pretty much intrigued by the Honk Kong way of doing business if this were *not* a scam...

Hello Xxxxxxx, respected member of the ASIC community,

We are shamelessly advertising our new line of ASICs, well, rather, I am
being paid to shamelessly advertise Hong Kong ASICs, at
www.hongkongasics.com. Guaranteed to process your shipment within 24 hours,
although the actual shipment can take between 5 and 7 business days.

If you live in the Hong Kong area, we also allow you to come up to our
rented space and pick your ASIC up right from our location, what's better
than that?

Anyways, if you decide to purchase today, we will ship you a unit that
contains Grade A chips, guaranteed to have 5%+ better performance than
advertised GH/s.

We will be launching a new website, and branding our products with a new
logo and design by mid-July, but we will remain at hongkongasics.com.

Thank you for your time and considerations, if you have a problem or
question, or want a tour of our facilities, do not hesitate to ask!

I did have an issue with their shopping cart when first visiting the page... seems fixed now, I did Email them about the web design though and did get a reply... their current website is hideous IMO.

Did you purchase?!

Yea, I bought a 2 BTC guy to test it out... what's a couple BTCs anyways? Tongue

I will let you know when I don't receive it so we can put the nail in the coffin on this guy I guess.... Sad

Man your either naive, or dumb, tht site screams scam. Do you not think they may have announced being an ASIC producer, rather than keep a low profile, and allow people to stumble across them?

Don't you think it's odd they are offering the exact same product range as theading competitor currently?

2BTC is approx $200!

I have a few hundred BTCs, it's not the end of the world. Tongue

I assumed that they had bought some Avalon (or some other) chips and tossed them in a box and called it a day, I didn't think they manufactured the chips. Oh well, live and learn.

Bravo! What's 2 BTC right! I was also thinking of doing that. Thanks for sticking your neck out of all of us!  Wink

Waiting for your conclusion.

Your f***ing kidding me, right? This is Cedartec stupidity all over again!

1. create fake asic hardware and open orders on the web
2. pretend people have made orders and so on
3. net a few suckers/newbs/morons etc who place an order
4. vanish with suckers money
5. rinse and repeat with a new name

Seems to be working and as long as it does these scammers will keep on coming.

Welcome to Deadwood!

Considering it generates the same BTC address for every transaction, and the address has 0 BTC in it, you are full of shit.

https://blockchain.info/address/1PFt8fGBPWqVKtXJSd6MkkFFUfVvJbAw4t

Also, I just noticed someone (probably you) changed the source code to manually update the BTC address to something different:

https://blockchain.info/address/13Y2WSyp2sFcHT6Kg6WzWeCwSdhCEEL1XE

Looks legit as fuck guyz!

So the only honest aspect of this thread is the OP's choice of username; sockopen.

I figured he may be part of it as he tried the same trick all the scammers do with shills, insert an element of doubt.

Cedartec with their anonymous64g account were prolific at this...

May well be the same people!

I have to check out for a while.  Really. The levels of insanity are just too great.  But worse, after reading too many of these threads, I begin to sympathize with the scammers, and that's not healthy.

The emotion and thought goes, "Sure, they're corrupt, they would be criminals in other settings, and they are shameless, bare-faced liars.  But they have to be a little smart, and at least aren't greedy little morons like the ones who reply: 'Wow! Interested!  When will you have a prototype?  Can I send you my BTC now?' "

The latter are beyond help, the former are outside of any legal, ethical, or moral control, so what's left to worry about?  It will play out regardless of any voice yelling into the howling wind.

I'll be back when the Avalon chips appear, the BFL boards start coming together, KNC's hardward ships, or Christmas, whichever come first.

www.hongkongasics.com is a link that was shared with me... the site says they "assemble" ASICs and are shipping them now, does this mean they just use Avalon or someone else's chips?

Also, does anyone have any experience buying from them? Their prices seem reasonable, but I am afraid to make the dive and actually try to buy some w/ no knowledge of them.
