I've got a bajillion of these hubs, there seem to be 2 or 3 PCB variations of them coming from China. Most of them die after awhile if using more than 6 erupters, some of them keep on chugging. For the ones which die the copper tracing has burned up/melted, or it appears one (sometimes 2) of the 3 chips couldn't handle the power (which is odd). Tested with 5v regulated output, 16ga wire to each PCB.

There's usually 3 control chips with one handling 4 ports, and the other two handling 3 ports. When one of these hubs die you'll know because only one or two banks of ports will remain working (front 3, back 4, front 6, etc). YMMV, good luck.

The BEST results I've had for my USB farm were with Aitech/Orico USB 3 hubs. 0 failures, nothing but nonstop hashing for months.

If you can solder, take leads straight to the board in place of the barrel jack, which some people have had problems with them melting. You might also consider scraping the soldermask off the power traces on the PCB and going over them with solder - more conductive material means lower resistance, less heat and voltage drop - not sure if that's necessary with stock BEs though. Barrel jack into a molex female is gonna be the simplest fix and pretty likely to be just fine though.

Red and black wires should be the 5v and you can get a barrel jacks to hook it up to the hub with. Just watch your wire size going to the hub 6-7 USB miners will draw 3-4 amps. I have the barrel jacks here on a blog if that helps. http://aurel57.blog.com/

Hi, I currently have this 10 port hub

I know that its being used with other power supply units in order to supply enough amperage to power 7-8 of these ports versus the 3 it can power with its current 2amp limitation.

Is there any manual on how to use an extra molex plug to power the hub so I can use atleast 5-6 of the ports for block erupters

Thanks
