If a journalist is reporting something about China, USA, Afghanistan, Swaziland, Bitcoin, Decentralization, etc, members of the community (who could be anonymous & spread across the world) should be verifying the information given and rewarding or penalizing the journalist and his/her content.

Example:

A journalist publishes something like this:
"Country A sets to destroy country B with nuclear weapon on 3rd of July next year. Soldiers in country A are forcefully conscripting children to the army all over the county for the bombing mission."

It's expected that the journalist who published that ^ has good proofs and members of that community will completely go through the content to find what is true or false and reward the journalist accordingly. Every bit of the word in the publication matters. So it good to be sure of what you are writing as a journalist otherwise you get penalize frequently and ruin your reputation and possibly risk serious punishment.
Now, If a journalist is unsure about his content, it's better he/his let the readers know it's speculations/guesses rather than writing like he has all the facts. No one will penalized him for guessing innocently.
