Then I have moved coins around from different wallets and exchanges.

When you have coin on an exchange you dont really hold it but exchange does. So you dont get any forks that way. When you withdraw from exchange exchange will send you just the coin you are asking for and no forks of it.

If you hold coin in your wallet, then all forks are there. You dont need to claim anything. It is in your wallet. If bitcoin goes to zero in 10 years time and that fork is then new bitcoin you have it. If you play now then you might not have it anymore.

It seems to me that here it is necessary to express one-to-one negative attitude about forks, which came out just to be. In general, nothing has changed. They were released solely to raise funds.

I need to claim some forks from various coins and crypto's. One issue I can foresee, is that the dates when I purchased bitcoin, litecoins, and Ethereum, it is various. Then I have moved coins around from different wallets and exchanges.  I have no clear dates on what is what and it has moved around.

How do I claim forks?
Is it hard to claim forks?
Is there risk claiming forks?
Is there a charge for claiming forks?
Are there forks that are worthless?

More. Info. Please!!!!
 Cool Cool

it is better to read about it in Google search engine, or to consult with those who have experience! I constantly have a problem with this understanding.

the worst fork ever in bitcoin history was bitcoin cash vs bitcoin sv. cause a massive dump. i dont believe anything like this will happen again. maybe another 10 years.

Good thing crypto got the odd habit of not caring about predictions at all precisely.

This is literally free money just like airdrops, staying up-to-date with them is in fact a pretty good idea and i might start doing it later. The problem is being aware of scams, really big problem in the world and especially in the crypto community.

Let's see what happens in the future.

Forks are mostly all worthless now.

Forks are only worth anything if you are able to claim them really fast, in the first months/weeks after it hits the exchanges. As most of them are just vaporware, just trade for BTC to increase your holdings.

I like to keep updated with forks using forkdrop.io and btcdiv.com

How do I claim forks?
Claiming fork coins are usually done by importing your private key to a software/wallet that supports the fork coin, but there's a lot of information on how you can claim all of it if you will take time to search it on the web.
Is it hard to claim forks?
No, if you can follow simple instructions.
Is there risk claiming forks?
There is a risk because you will have to import the private key of your Bitcoin address to a new software which is very risky especially if you hold huge amount of coins on that address. So better transfer all your coins to a new generated address before starting to import it, also find the official software of the fork coin you are claiming.
Is there a charge for claiming forks?
Nope, there are no charges for claiming your fork coins.
Are there forks that are worthless?
Majority of those forks coins are useless and worthless since they are just made to make money using the name of the original cryptocurrency that they are copying by proposing a better performance and security by changing the algorithm and increasing the block size but really doesn't solve anything.

Any fork that doesn't credit my wallet automatically, I just ignore it. I don't seem to have the energy to begin claiming it.

I believe there is no way you can claim forked coins without doing some technical works, unless you leave your coins on an exchange that support the fork. Most forked coins that make a new chain requires you to 'claim' it because there's a chain split.

I think that forks are the past and I do not follow them.

It is worth choosing for yourself the most promising coins and follow the new developments.

Is it hard to claim forks?
Not really. As you google it, you just have to follow instructions as long as your wallet is eligible for that airdrop. There are services that's dedicated for claiming forks here in the forum that you can avail.

Is there risk claiming forks?
Like FatBen mentioned, if you downloaded the wrong claiming software your computer might be infected by a malware. This is why you have to verify what are those legit sources that you need to download for those forks you're about to claim.

Are there forks that are worthless?
There's a lot.

What are these forks you think your wallet is eligible with?
