That options is not available yet but what about you manually saving the link to the topics you what to keep for future use in you draft folders in that way any time you want to revisit the post you can just click the link from there. With that I think your problem will be solved.

I like to keep them in notepad file also. When you share your system , then you will not like that your friends and relatives start poking in your bookmarks.
I bookmark only very generic sites.

I would like to see an alert system, one of these where there is a bell and you get a notification whenever you are quoted in order to reply. Those are really useful too from a webmaster POV. It generates even more traffic as you are more prone to reply back and start a conversation. Without this is a bit chaotic getting track of where and who you are talking to.

The only problem I see with all of these things is that they are probably going to require javascript and as these things add up it clutters the forum. Unless theymos can come up with a non-javascript friendly notification and quoting system, that would be really cool, it's going to be really difficult tho, I have never seen such a system implemented that didn't require all scripts enabled in order to refer to the accounts and quotes.

You can also synchronise all your bookmarks, internet and search history through all the devices you use, including your mobile device. Everything I use on my laptops is also synced to my mobile and vice verse.

Try this:
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/165139?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
Exactly and I love this feature. When I bought my new phone, I just had to login to my Google and Firefox accounts and all my bookmarks were synced to my new device, so I didn't had to do this job manually. There is also one great service by Google where you can save your bookmarks - https://www.google.com/bookmarks/
But when you have many bookmarks in your browser, later it can be difficult to find what you need. So I like to have bookmarks divided in specific folders, for example ''Bitcointalk'', ''Articles'', ''Tools'', ''Uesful links'' and etc.

What’s wrong with your browser’s bookmark option?

Create a folder for BitcoinTalk and keep the posts saved there.
+1 for this

I change computers and browsers a lot..

Isn't this forum going away? Why so many feature requests for this ancient hunk of SMF?? Tongue
Actually all improvements are coming up from different users who are seeing good things for the forum. Let us not forget that the forum in its feature is not being made or done by a single user or person. It is a contribution to anybody who are extending their help by sharing ideas. So we should be open to some suggestions.

Lol

You are right. Those discussions should be about new forum software, not about this old smf forum

owlcatz has a point; but disregarding the discussions about the current forum software is completely assuming that we're going to get the new forum anytime soon. 🤷‍♂️

I believe we can always create an issue on Epochtalk's GitHub repo asking for specific features. Since the devs lurk there (and not here), they should see it and maybe implement it more easily.

You're right. After all, the forum will switch to the software in one or two decades.

The watchlist function doesn’t work for those who use it to quickly view all the new threads on their favorite boards (like me). I would do as suggested above and start using the Pocket extension (apparently, you can tag your bookmarks and group them, which is a plus).

I'm currently reading a few topics (without posting) and it's hard to search them every time. I think, it would be nice to have a tab, where you can keep all the topics you liked and planning to read in the future.

Let me know, what you think.
Try the watchlist function, and just click 'watch' if a topic is interesting but you don't want to post in in.
You can have a look at your watchlist and remove the unnecessary topics from it, so it will only contain the required stuff. (Use the 'edit watchlist' link if you have opened the watchlist).

You can

- active watch for the topic
- Active notify for the topic

First one will bump the topic on your Watchlist page every time there will a new post and the 2nd one will email you every time there will be a new post on the thread.

*snip*

A good temporary solution would be to use the Pocket[1] browser plugin and app. You simply click on the Pocket icon on your browser and it gets added to your Pocket account. All the links you've added, you can view by logging in on your account through your browser, or through Pocket's mobile app[2].

This is what I personally use for posts and articles in general that I'm planning on reading at some other time.

Personally I would like an option to save a post as a favorite or something like that.

I was using merit to do so. Everytime I found an interesting post I merited it so I could find it easily in my merit history. But merit history only last 3 months ,so I use third party sites like Loycev's website and vod's bpip
