Why they must proof anything? don't preorder, wait until you have seen with you own eyes, if you think it is risky to buy without tangible proof it is simple, don't preorder, let the people who risk his money to earn more than you or to lose more than you.

This is what a lot of people are doing. I refuse to buy anything until I see what happens... It might not even be profitable to buy a Single SC...

They will be 6-12 months late on ship date. 10-60% Overrated specs. Smiley Enjoy your pre orders.

Because they're in transit. The announcement was made after our purchase. Once the machines are fully installed, we'll be happy to flood you with photos and assembly videos.

Why would BFL do this? They already have more pre-orders than they can count.

Funny question, they would do it if they were scamming people.. the more pre-orders they have, the more money they can run away with.

However I am not to judge, if they do deliver then good for them.  However I am certain they will be late on delivery if they do, and the specs will be overrated by quite a bit.

...3) BFL then starts connecting, on a live webcam or screencast or whatever to given credentials within just a few minutes and stay connected for 30min? 60min?

Even if there would be prototype ASICs available right now, there's no software that supports them.

ckolivas/cgminer has offered to support the ASICs - but hasn't received anything (prototypes, dev board, etc.) from BFL yet.

And, according to Josh/BFL, not even their own miner - EasyMiner - supports the ASICs.

Biggest question for me so far: How on earth do those guys test their own hardware?!

Ok.. i didnt know that... so... goooood question...
Well if they cannot proof to someone thats very reliable like Ckolivas who i now is 100% for real another red flag appears to me...so we will see the lack of proof could be the lack of self reflexion and customercare in all cases ..

Sounds reasonable to me. I'm surprised we are within a month or two of estimated ship dates and there is so little tangible evidence of performance with regard to hash rate or power consumption. This is applicable to any of the vendors.

I was thinking tonight about how BFL could show the world that their stuff actually IS working. I mean.. if you have a prototype you would consider it working, wouldnt you?

So if all those shiny pictures are more than just fakes (it would be very easy for me to produce the pic of a butterfly labs vASIC any time that looks as good as the stuff shown in the other thread) then i would propose follwing way to go:

1) BFL Accepts the challange (hardest thing in the whole business..)
2) A few poolops ( i would say the ops of the biggest pools )  prepare a username and password for their pool to let the prototype connect to
3) BFL then starts connecting, on a live webcam or screencast or whatever to given credentials within just a few minutes and stay connected for 30min? 60min?
4) Every poolop will have to report the speed at poolside

That would be SOME way for BFL to prove that their stuff works.. i wonder if people would actually help with that idea..

*edit* i know that this wouldnt be 100% cheat proof.. but better than some pictures noone can verify what they are made of.
