What's wrong with you? Were you drunk when you wrote this?

Be happy that bitcoins are good to inspire artists. I wonder what you hated in the post he made.

Haha, it was a bit strange, I agree. Thanks for keeping the discussion positive.

My thoughts...
this is not a original idea and it does nothing for the BTC community.

Factoid: in Texas, it is legal to shoot a graffiti artist on your property at night if you caught him or her in the act. It is not legal in the day time, though.

Graffiti/Street Art is related closely to photography. Being ephemeral, as you said, graffiti tens to wear down or being erased. You can simply snap a picture to "stop" time, and embed the hash of that picture on the blockchain to prove its existance, and that you owned it. Other than that, and the QR idea, i don't see much of a relation... Smiley
Proof of ownership is a cool idea, and takes the QR code one step further, since otherwise – obviously – anyone could go ahead and paint a QR code next to pieces.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I am not a big supporter of Graffiti blasted onto public places and let's be honest some people's idea about art is delusional at most.

Some of the guys and gals are VERY talented and they have a message that needs to be expressed... I would rather have them do that in the context of a gallery or posting it online.

Bitcoin could help to fund these ideas and creativity through QR codes being posted with these creations... The author/artist of these creations could still stay anonymous, but still get financial support from his/her admirers. The blockchain could serve as a ledger for one persons work... shortened Url's could be imbedded into the blockchain to link to that persons creation. They could also link this to other people's transaction history. {Eg... A little message on the transaction, send to a Whale bitcoin address}
I appreciate the response. Thanks for taking the time to play with some ideas.

Uninformed/uninformative response. No idea what you're talking about; there was no "idea", I was asking for discussion.

I'm super-interested in decentralised technology affecting graffiti culture. I like the contrast of graffiti being ephemeral and the blockchain being permanent.

I've been mulling the idea over but can't seem to wrap my head around the benefits that the Blockchain could provide.

Obviously a QR code next to street art pieces could be used for literal donations, but surely there are more interesting applications?

People have put graffiti into the blockchain, which is kind of cool.

What other forms of digital graffiti could exist?

Second Life? Other digital worlds?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
