You can't import a private into an HD wallet... only into a wallet that is just collection of private keys.

To import just a private key, you would need to create a new wallet in Electrum and select "use public or private keys" during the wallet creation and then enter the private key that you received from the vanitygen.

Yes, that is the only way to add your created wallet on electrum, that is used your private keys. It is just like recovering your wallet. This is what I did also last time my computer crash.

My only concern is , how secure the vanitygen website?they my have record of your private keys too which could be a security breach in the future.
The website stated in the topic is not secure. Since they don't offer the split-key generation, they will be able to see and spend your funds from the private key.

Split key vanity works in a way such that you have to combine the part private keys to make one address. Without the knowledge of the other address, you cannot access the funds.

As a side note, I wouldn't recommend using a website such as that to generate vanity addresses. You should use sites that support private key parts so that another party doesn't have your entire private key.

I'd recommend http://vanitypool.appspot.com/ instead for creating vanity addresses.
bitcoinvanitygen also provided secret or private key they are giving it to import it to other wallet..

Knowledge of the private key allows anyone to spend bitcoins sent to the corresponding address. Bitcoinvanitygen knows your private key and in future if they like they can spend bitcoins sent to it! You should not use this private key and address that you got from them!

What kolloh is talking about is a process through which you can get someone else to generate a vanity address for you without them knowing your private key. You generate the private key on your own computer and then give this third party the public key. They use that to generate a vanity address for you and provide you with a secret that when combined with your private key generates the correct private key for the vanity address. Since they never had your private key and only your public key your funds are not at risk.
