I was wondering about that too but figured out that it cannot be changed unless if you created another account by registering again. In your case, since you're new you can create another one because you have nothing to lose. Having two accounts is not against the rules.

You can also message theymos, if you have a good reason but your chances are very little because i do not think that you have any valid reason to do so. Unless if you already got a lot of merits and you thought that it would be such a waste to start over again, maybe by then theymos would recognized you and will give you the permission to do so but then again in your case, just create another account, that would be the best option you have.

You can create a new account instead babbling here. You dont spend so much time yet here so repeating registration is way better than making moderators change your name.

I remember when I requested to change name before, but sadly my request is decline, cause possibly that my reason wasnt enough for the request. Usually some granted those reputable members and known to have valid reason.

on almost all networks it is possible to change the username, Telegram, Twitter, FB... he probably thought something like that was possible here too.
but the username here is closely related to reputation, which is quite important for some further activities.
For example, your ^{COOLCRYPTOVATOR} changing username request made sense, because you were already recognizable, with much feedback on your profile.

I am just curious to know why do you want to change your username since you can simply create a new one? It's not against the forum rule if you create a new account in case your previous account has not been banned, or you are not involved with any crime and didn't abuse the trust system. I have changed my username although not too much change, but changed. So what I did, I send a PM to admin theymos with the request to change the username, after a few days I received a PM with a changed name. But I don't think so that theymos will grant change your username because at least you have to be a good contributor and should have a good reason to change. So I think easy is and simple to create a new account with your desired username.

OP, this is solely my opinion, but I highly believe that in the remote possibility that your username change request is accepted, it will only be made at a "soft" level - as in, due to a reason of appearance as theymos puts in the quote provided by tranthidung. In most places that I browse making a deep change regarding a user account is something that happens very rarely, and I personally never seen it happen - the only reasons I see as plausible would be to keep someone safe / privacy issues such as theymos said.

In your case, however, I see few arguments that could sustain such a quick username change considering that you've created your account on the 1st of October and then 8 days latter you suddenly though that you may not like your CHOSEN username. I imagine that the few users that ask this change to be made probably don't want to start from 0 regarding their rank / merit, so I somewhat could understand their eventual request, but not on your case.

Considering the time that a mod / theymos will have to employ to actually change your username (no matter how small it is) vs. you creating another account and start using it, I see the latter option being the quickest for your situation - I'm sure mods / Admins have far more greater issues to deal with, and they'll probably throw your request far into the queue of "issues".

What was in your mind to make an account with username Nakamoto? to match it with Satoshi or something else.

But whatever the reason is you can't just change you username once you have registered the account on the forum and why did you want to change it all? We are not here to make account with original names only but the main purpose is to make effective and high quality posts and that should be your aim also as people here are have unique username but still they are recognised with their work on the forum.So it's all good if you want to continue with the same one with sole purpose to be an good contributor on bitcointalk forum.

Exactly what would be the reason, but whatever may be the reason, he can start all over again with new account. I double people will be able to create such name on the forum as I did not see a single name bearing Nakamoto when I used the forum search engine. Also if you use broswer search engine, it will bring up only satoshi profile.

Its just an identifying name, it doesnt bear any weight on your account or add anything
to your account, just continue on with Nakarato, get yourself involved in the forum,
build up a history, earn some merit and trust, these are more important than an account
name. I hope you are not planning on changing the "ra" in your name to "mo"?

From what I see here you have two options. Option 1: You can send a message to Theymos to help you change your username. He might consider if your reason is good enough. But your chances are slim
Option 2: You can create a new account with your preferred username. Your account is kinda new, you don't have a reputation. You can easily dump it if you want to change your name. This

Based on your advertising and promotion of LitecoinCash, I can guess which name you could choose for yourself. LitecoinCashBest or LitecoinCashCool. You probably have big plans once you want to choose a sonorous name?

As a new member ^{no contribution}, you can not get acceptance to change your username, in most of cases. So as other members told you, let's move on with a new account. Exception is if your current username contains something that can be used to dox you later.



Sometimes theymos will accept request from old members to change usernames but it won't be approved too commonly. Provide good reasons to convince theymos why current usernames should be changed.

Hint

• Even if you see your username changed, it is not changed actually.
• Just display name is changed, the initial username still does exists and is used to keep tracing your account

Unless your current name is somehow going to lead to you getting doxed, or otherwise endanger you, the above is the right answer.

If either of the above applies, PM Theymos and he will likely change your display name (assuming you can document the above).

If you think you've discovered a name that's more ideal than your current username, just stop posting in this one, and create a new account with the said username, I'd not advice you waste your time sending a pm to the admins, I know a few users have changed their names on the forum, but they were not newbies (by rank) and they definitely weren't new to the forum. You actually have nothing to lose if you start with a new account, you have no merits yet, and afaik, you've not garnered any good reputation on this account, so no one will actually notice if you drop it.

Yeah, that's definitely the way to go in a case like this where a newbie with 38 posts and no merits wants a different username.  There's no need to petition Theymos for a change, because in all likelihood he'll just be met with silence, and he'll keep waiting for a response, and in the meantime he could have just started over by creating a new account.

That's how it is here, OP.  Very few members can get their username changed, so just make a new account.

You might be better off just making a new account and moving on.

You can pm the admin but since you're pretty new, you might not get a response or they might not think it's worth doing because you might not stay for long.

Name changes also leave marks normally so you'll still have people seeing your old name in certain contexts (eg sending a message on the forum).

You can not change your username neither can any member change his or her username irrespective of the rank, but if you have a good reason, you can send theymos PM, but I do not think you have a good reason that theymos will consider to change your username for you.
