390 can do 38MH actually with some special tweak, so it's better to go with that option, since he said "free energy" i guess he don't care about consumption, but this mean also more psu unit...

 On current DAG file size?
No bloody way - they don't clock THAT much higher than the R9 290 does.

Good card, and a good option for his stated parameters, but they're not 38MH/s any more.

Elvip got special BIOS which can do 38 MH/s for the Sapphire R9 390. The memory speed is much faster.

I have a personal bias  that he should get the r9 390's

I listed my last four right here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15861561

he could pick these up  for the build.

you need to buy five hundred rx 470 that is worth 89500 dollars.
i think this is the best choice at the moment.
also there is prices for other hardware parts.

here is the hashrates of a rx 470

http://cryptomining-blog.com/8186-expected-ethereum-hashrate-of-the-new-amd-radeon-rx-470-gpus/

edit:sorry i got it 1 ghs corrected

yes i meant 1G/hs, sorry am still a newbie Grin

5 rig of 6 card each, each card 33MH, total 200MH per rig, look at some 290 or 390 for this

You are NOT likely to get to 33MH/s with R9 290s. They're legitimate 30MH cards if you push them at CURRENT DAG file size and mod them with TheStilt bios.

Definitely lower cost than going with RX480 or RX470 cards as you need fewer cards and the cost per card is pretty much the same - but probably less efficient due to higher power usage.

R9390 would be a good option . Build 5 rigs with 6 cards each

I would build 11 rigs with four cards each.

I would use the biostar z170 mobo.

I like this build as it seems to be very stable. No risers.

This build is about 1500 so 11 x 1500 = 16500 to be at 1050 mh.

Or you could get 35 r9 390's for six card riser builds .

You would be at 11000 a plus for this is the r9 390 is easy to find.

The rx 470 or 480 is hard to find.

You said you have free power so the r9 390 may be what you should do

You're still looking at ballpark 4 rigs minimum, 6 cards each, to achieve 1GH/sec

hmm a bit off unless hes buying 30 mhs cards but best bet is rx480 which is 41 cards (1000/24mhs) = 7 ish MOBOs

1TH/s? wooah. I'm pretty sure you mean 1GH/s, which is still a whole lot of power.

Please can someone explain to me in lay-terms the cheapest way to go about setting up a 1 g/hs ETH mining rig. I have access to free electricity.
