#11
#1 Word of mouth... (Good or bad, but good is better, obviously. Well, depends on the person you are talking to.)
#2 Trust... (Better to inform them of all known truths, and let them research themselves.)
#3 Give... (Give them a fraction of a coin at the right time... like now, while it is on the low. Let them see it rise and fall again. However, tell them not to spend it for a year. One year later, I am sure they will buy more, or try.)
#4 Advertise: Buy a Solowheel, and drive it around. (Everyone will ask you about it. Tell them you got it with bitcoins, and use that as the ice-breaker.)

Beyond that, the best you can do to support the network is buy more when they go low, and sell a few when you think they are high. (Not all of them.) You potentially give someone with a long-term outlook, a chance to get one at a price they were willing to pay. Without consuming all the value for yourself. (If you didn't just dump all your coins at once for that high value.)

Make someones day... sell someone a fraction of one, for a loss, if you can afford it. Let them get that gain, which was in your abundance.

Don't panic on lows, or cash-outs... You help the market restore faster if you keep your cool. But don't hesitate to swipe up some of those low values, even if they are not right where you think they will bottom-out.

Oh, and screw with banks... every visit, say to the teller... "Wish you guys accepted bitcoins here"... Usually they say something like, "We might, would you like me to ask"... They think you are talking about a physical coin... Laugh a little and say, "No, it's a digital form of currency, like paypal or credit-cards."

Say the same to any store too.. the person at the register... they will either look to see what it is, or mention it to their boss, if they think you are serious.

Also...

Play dumb... just ask someone.. "Have you heard anything new about bitcoins?" Then mention some news that was good and something that was bad. They will look, possibly, just to feel informed with what you were talking about... like it is something they should have known about. (That is actually how I got hooked.)

Never say crap like...
"Dude, your stupid if you don't get some of these!" (That just insults their intelligence, they won't do it just to spite your suggestion of them being stupid.)
"This is going to make you rich!" (They will think you are a sucker for believing that. Then repeating it.)
"This is the best thing ever!" (Trendy feel, pushes most away. They assume you are a noob. Like a kid who just discovered farmville and facebook.)

P.S. Don't preach to the choir... We all are here already, because we believe... Tongue

I understand your view on worldcoin, don't get me wrong. It has been on my watch list for a while and I can see it taking a top 5 spot. But no need to plug a specific alt in a the BTC thread. As I mentioned there are a few alts that could grab the mass adoption, due to BTC's speed and volatility. volatility will become stable as it becomes widely adopted. Alts have very little purpose besides speculation at the MOMENT. That WILL change but to pug YOUR coin will fall on def ears.... Most here and posting know BTC and the alts that are worth taking a gamble on..

I guess it should start from the business owners. If all businesses will accept bitcoin, then the rest will do the same. However, it will take a long way before everyone on the planet will adopt bitcoin.

I do not think it will never happen.
I am sorry for telling you this but BTC confirmation time is far too slow for merchants (first confirmation takes 10 minutes - imagine buying groceries and waiting at the cashier 10 minutes to get the transaction even 1 confirmation (not to mention several confirmations).
If the merchants will ever accept a cryptocurrency, they would pick up the best one (WorldCoin).

I am sorry for waking you up from your daydreams.

that's your 2nd worldcoin plug in as many threads... what about, quark or nxt? those are 2 others that have a great dev team and are fast. Fastcoin, and QQQ are even faster but lac the dev to surpass at the moment. DONT get me wrong I love bitcoin and will stay true to it for as long as it lives, but it has become obsolete in many areas, and I do believe another coin will become a better "currency" alt. emunie will have a stability that people will love (not us cuz were all gamblers). who knows which one will take the title of most accepted.

(I am not plugging any of the above coins, just drawing comparisons. I only hold 1 of these but all hold their own advantages)

On the other hand I could see BTC staying at #1 for its cult following(including myself in  that cult) as it has the advantage of being revolutionary and 1st.... Its truly a remarkable creation that I am thankful I have the opportunity to be a part of. That we all have the opportunity to be a part of. This is it guys and gals! this is the future, and we are the lucky few who will make history with this great achievement!

I don't know what else we can do but spread the word to family, friends, and co workers. I work with a crew of 100+ other people in a warehouse. I closely work with 7 guys in the office of our warehouse and of these 7 guys (who are techies) 1 knows what BTC is... 1 out of 7 IT specialists.... that's horrific.... let the other guys In the warehouse who Iv have casually mentioned it to who's average age is 21-30. 1 guy knew of it.

I HATE telling people to invest in BTC or alt, but I let them know what Im holding at the moment when asked. The last thing I want is for someone to get burned and spread it. Best to put the bug in people and let them decide if it is right for them. IF they are smart they will see the future and adopt NOW. :p EVENTUALY they will be using it anyway Tongue

I am writing on several threads simply because it is the only way to get my Gospel heared.
I am not here debunking bitcoin. I am here to help you guys to find the better way.
Don't you think BitCoin is too expensive currently? Just a couple of years ago the price was hardly few dollars or even decimals and now it is trading hundreds if not thousands. Do you think it will be like this forever? I think no, this is why I want You to consider other alternative coins.

You asked a good question why WorldCoin, why not NXT. Probably prudent investor would diversify a little but I am that kind of guy who picks the coin up that I see at the current situation the most potential to become something great.
One big plus around WorldCoin compared to many other cryptos is that it has gone through huge challenges and it seems it is going through. The coin is still here, it has value despite some setbacks. To me it proves the coin is something, crise-proof so to say. I think this is one major advantage with the coin. The WorldCoin as name also sounds like it is taking over the world.

BitCoin definetely has come close to its end. The mining is not profitable if you do not invest heavily into it (the network becomes more centralized).
If you get the first confirmation within 30 seconds, it is fast enough. If you are in cafe, you make the order and pay it, while the lady makes the coffee for you, the coin gets fully confirmed and as she hands the mug into your hands, the coins are at merchant's wallet and transaction is free and clear completely.

Two very important ways:

1)  Every single store you walk into, even at the grocery store 16 year old pimply faced cashier who knows nothing about Bitcoin, ask:  "Do you guys accept Bitcoin yet?"  Always use the word "Yet" because it makes them feel like they are missing out on something and behind the curve.  I always ask if the supervisor is around and just quickly rattle off the question as I am checking out.  If they ask what it is, I quickly say "Zero merchant fees and zero chargebacks. You should check into it".   Simple as that.  Gas station, chocolate shop, restaurant.  Word of mouth is more powerful than you may realize.

2)  Give everyone you know a paper wallet with $5 on it.   bitaddress.org.   Works.  Trust me.

What do you think the steps which us as a community need to take? It has been a difficult year for Bitcoin with the recent happenings and it caused quite a stir. How can we improve Bitcoin and make it a more friendly place for new people just starting to use Bicoin?

I think all we can do is wait. Early Linux adopters were just as excited about taking over the world as we are now about taking over online payments. But there was no realistic way for early adopters of Linux to teach their grandmother how to use it. But today my grandmother has an Android smartphone. Mission accomplished. We succeeded in taking over the world.

Bitcoin has to become this easy to use without having to think about any technical details. Today you must understand too many technical details so that you don't loose your money either through fraud or a misunderstanding of your wallet backup. We need safe and secure wallets that do not by default show the user any hashes, addresses or transaction ids. We also need better integration with and conversion between fiat. That is a political matter and may be the most significant obstacle.
