I think we have tried all the kickstarter or gofundme type of deals in crypto world as well but we are more of a investor than helper and even if we are getting a product in the end we do not like to put money where we can't make more money. Thats why ICO world got so big because we were putting in money but getting more money back (at least we hoped) whereas crowdfunding would gather many people together but gave everyone a fair share of a product instead of a coin. Thats why it didn't get too big in crypto world and probably won't neither.
You have to understand that at the moment the legislative base on cryptocurrency is being adopted and in order to become an investor it is necessary to get a certain status and for this the bodies will be created because all operations with investments must be transparent.
Because to participate in the STO you need to become accredited investors. that means you must have a lot of net worth to able registered as accredited investors. That's why the crowdfunding is a new way for even a little shrimp to take their chance to participate in the crowdfunding for the platform or companies.
