I believe that it’s too early for daaps to grab cryptocurrency wounds, take a look at the upcoming projects, because they are all trying to create the best version of bitcoin as one, because now it’s profitable for them and they can earn money on it, but if they already have some rules for the market strong teams will start creating daaps applications to the place of creating new blockchains then it will be possible to talk about it already, so far I don’t see anything interesting, some applications and applications that nobody needs.

It will be hard to compete with ps4 games, for example. And is decentralization really important in gaming industry?

I'm not sure if it's indispensable for the entire industry... well.. they bring new possibilities and may be useful to monetize games (receiving faster, no middleman) maybe even ps and other consoles could use partially, for id/payments.

Yes, DAPPS are more improved than the usual games because aside from enjoying playing the game, your time and effort won't be a waste because you can monetize  through it.

It depends on which blockchain the project uses. I understand that are doing everything on ethereum now because it is very convenient for many investors, but the fee for the commission is high and here I would advise you to make a market for applications on the Neo blockchain where there is no commission for transferring tokens. Or find a similar blockchain without a commission, and receive a profit for paying for games with your own tokens.

I believe the problem with gaming in DApps is the cost.
Imagine having to pay for each transaction in Eth, for example. Even if it is 0,001 usd, it´s not in the culture of gamers to pay for playing, only in very restrict gaming niches.

Yes it's a bit expensive because you have to pay in every transaction, but I think you will have your return and earn from it in the future when you continuously playing it.

Hmm. I'm not sure how this will stack up to other games/game platforms that are already live. In my opinion, paying any fee to play a sub-par game is really impractical, especially with the number of companies that follow the freemium business model currently, and especially with crypto being in not the most known state right now.

I think the tech that blockchain is using right now can be applied to games, but in it's current state, it is a no.

That's why gaming DApps on Steem or popping up constantly, because they have zero-fee transactions and 3 second confirmation times.
I'm currently playing Splinterlands there and it's a very smooth experience, way better than any game I've ever played on the ETH chain.

But yeah, we're currentlynot yet at a level where they can compete with AAA titles, far from it.

How can a zero fee model work? The network would be vulnerable to ddos attacks (one of the purposes of the fees is to secure the network against ddos attacks). What about mining incentives?. Imagine every full node having to store zero fee transactions, which will be much more than necessary (because they are free).  This will impact decentralization and the whole point of Dapps.

Well, maybe I am wrong, but I can see how a zero fee model will work in a decentralized plataform. I will try to read something about that  to see what am I missing.

Someone explained it better than I ever could:

Quote
How is Steem able to stay decentralized?
- By not having a central server that stores all it’s data. The steem blockchain is stored by hundreds of private witness nodes (Witness as in POS miners). Just like other decentralized blockchains, the steem blockchain is not controlled by any single entity and it takes overwhelming consensus to effect changes on the blockchain.
How is Steem operating with no (transaction) fees?
- By adopting a “dynamic fractional reserves” wherein the “bandwidth” of a an account is relative to the stake it has on the blockchain. Meaning instead of needing to actively pay for real estate in the blocks, the spaces are “reserved” in proportion to how much Staked STEEM token an account has (whereby called Steem Power). You can read more about it in detail within the Steem Whitepaper [1] under the subtitle “Eliminating Transaction Fees”.

There's more to this than what needs to consider in DApps, many projects failed because of the complicated factors that they have missed like hassle-free payments, soft copy of purchases, piracy, and so on.

So, in my opinion, there's a lot more that needs to be done, most of customers rely on more or most popular brands that turn their products on something new like from gaming to mobile or fashion to electronics.

Video game industry is one of most lucrative internet-powered industries for decades. However, they are being manipulated from the pressure of improving player retention, power of distributors and high irrecoverable costs of players.
