Once a man, twice a child!
  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
Well, I wouldn't say it was from bad or good news as the person talking about it on a radio programme I was listening to that morning struggled to convince his listeners to attend a seminar his group was organizing. It wasn't a free seminar, anyway. I never attended it because it was hosted in a different state from where I lived. I got curious about Bitcoin when he mentioned its price and then I decided to search it out on the internet. That was in 2016.

  • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
I stumbled on it while my curiosity couldn't let me rest. I guess I clicked on a link that led me to CMC and then I clicked on another on Bitcoin to read about it. I only wanted to read deeply about Bitcoin and then exchange ideas with others. That click landed me here. I didn't know one could also earn by being here. I got to know all that when I started reading and making posts. The rest, like they say, is now history.

The world growing rapidly in technology and digital life style, BTC massive evolution and revolution can not be over emphasise because it's pictures and the visible value it has added globally. My curiosity enveloped when i saw someone bearing it as a nick name Which has led me  where i am today.
Internet as a new technology was only a matter of time to provide a technology to be suited because you can't convert and transfer cash digital. It's really complicated because in middle age, no one knew what the fuck was a computer.
But now, here we are.

Bitcointalk is first forum to discuss Bitcoin, of course it is famous.

Long story but I was told about BTC by a Greek poker player I knew in RL. He told me to buy just one and to hold it for 20 years, that it was the future of money. I thought he was full of BS and ignored the advice. In 2014 I started to hear about it more so did a bunch of research. I bought my first coin in 2014 but I didn’t just buy one. I kept buying and buying and buying, I got obsessed and didn’t stop.

At some point I was massively down on what I’d put in but I didn’t care, I just kept buying. I found this forum in 2014 just by browsing Google, it gave me so much knowledge, reading about BTC and getting bits of information from well versed people here. This forum gave me the push to learn more and keep buying.

Firstly I owe that guy my life, he urged me to buy BTC and it was the best thing I ever did and continue to do.
BTC has done more for me than I ever imagined, given me opportunities that I never would have had in my previous life. Secondly this forum is amazing, I have met friends for life from here. As a newbie you can learn so much here. I have learnt more from bitcointalk.org than any website, book or dumb online influencer.

I learned about bitcoin a few times before it got big and of course I wish that my judgement had not been clouded or that I wasn't completely focused in my studies the second time that I heard about it because maybe by some chance I would have still had the keys to its existence. The first time someone physically got between me and purchasing BTC, the second time I was in my college library studying when a facebook notification popped up with one of my classmates linking an article that I dismissed at the time. I later learned of the forum from a buddy I met on IG that had a similar interest in collectibles.

Bitcointalk comes up a lot in search engines when you are looking up topics related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. There are many services which have their own thread in the forum so whenever you are looking for the answer to a problem it often leads to Bitcointalk. For most of my time I have been a lurker but eventually I saw there was some campaigns accepting low rank users so I became more active because I wanted to earn some BTC for discussing subjects I was interested in.

The great city of God 🔥
I have heard about Bitcoin long time ago but don't know how it function or what it is, not ontill something like 2020-2021 when bitcoin jumped to $20k. I could hear my fellow colleagues complaining of not holding bitcoin, that now people who held it are now millionaire. Now they will have to continue there industrial struggle with anger and sadnesses. Then I decided to make a research about it since nobody could explain to me what is Bitcoin.

I went to YouTube and downloaded some videos and study alot about it. And even went as far as downloading trust wallet, and ask some of my friends on how to buy coin and they told me how to do it. And I was able to recieve my first coin was babyshiba inu. And after I lernt many things about Bitcoin. This is the prove of my first shitcoin

Them for bitcointalk I was introduced by my cousin who has been here for long, immediately he told me I grabbed the opportunity because I have Been looking for a way to know more about bitcoin and from this platform I was able to recieve my first bitcoin through signature campaign.

I learnt bitcoin from researching on how i can earn money online when i entered college and got a free wifi establishment so free internet all the way. Facebook groups are like good forums back there with full discussions of certain niche. Someone mentioned there about bitcointalk, still related to earn. But im so doubtful that it takes me almost a year i registered here.
In the simple words i go here because of profit i'll get Grin. But in the long run i even learned technicalities, financial literacy, many more.

Beyond explanation of how the bitcoin forum was located byt members, I think we should consider it a data to analyse the channel thorugh which marketing can be achieved, for the marketing gurus in the house.

It is a pointer as to where to channel energy in the marketing of products. This is just getting started, when the more comments drops in, we will clearly understand the very essence of this particuar thread and its relevance to marketers.

@wallet4bitcoin, I have a question for you (if you read anything here), did you notice that you received the first warning for spam and burst posting? Check the spreadsheet from the Bitvest signature campaign and the manager's note under your name.
I see that you are still quite aggressive in filling the quota of posts and you are very close to being marked as a spammer.

How did you know about Bitcointalk?

My answers to both questions will be the following: I have known about Bitcoin from my university mate, who told be about existence of digital money. I was interested in this idea, and asked where I can learn more about this. That's when he recommended me to take a look on this forum. At first I was just reading some topics as a guest, because I didn't feel any confidence to write something here. But when I started to dig more and more, a lot of questions arose in my head, and finally I created an account and started to communicate. It was a very foreseeing and right decision for me.

Now, two questions for you.
  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
Neither good news nor bad news.

My friend introduced me to both Bitcoin. He didn't say that much about the information about it, so I did some research about both of them and got interested in it. At that time, I had just graduated from college as well, and I didn't have anything to do so I spent my time back then watching documentaries, reading articles online, etc. etc. I can't forget the fact that you can get Bitcoins thru faucets, and that's free. I mean just a few clicks and you will get satoshis already. If only I knew back then that Bitcoin would become this huge, I must've kept all those Bitcoins that I got for free. No regret on my decisions though. Smiley

Now, two questions for you.
  • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
The forum has been introduced by my friends in my community. He said that the platform was a place where I could learn about Bitcoin aside from YouTube, and since I'm kind of curious about what Bitcoin is, I did a quick research about Bitcoin, and I got hooked up with the idea of it, and decided to register in this forum. Of course, I will consider myself a hypocrite if I do not say the fact that you can earn money here while learning. I mean who doesn't want money right? You are learning here, but at the same time, you are earning as well, I just graduated from college at that time, so I need to learn how to make money by myself.

Overall, Bitcointalk has been a great platform for me not only because you can get much information here with regards to Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency in general, but also because it helped me become better at speaking English. By interacting with other users here, I learned how to be more effective in interacting using the English language.

I know I've written this at least once, but I discovered bitcoin first from some kind of news reports, and that might have been back in 2012-13.  I figured it was a total scam, something along the lines of the other digital kinds of money like Flooz (that Whoopee Goldberg promoted back in the late 90s/early 2000s).  Then in 2014 I kept doing searches for bitcoin and most of the results linked to bitcointalk, so I bookmarked a page.  Mostly I read stuff that dealt with all the scams that were going on at the time--and I still didn't understand the fundamental difference between the centralized digital money stuff and bitcoin, so I remained ignorant.

Then, after seeing all the ridiculous shitposts I figured I needed a place to troll, and so I registered in 2015.  That was my intention, anyway.  I soon realized after doing some deeper reading that bitcoin was way different than anything that came before it, and after a while the trolling I planned to do turned into becoming involved in the community and learning a hell of a lot more about bitcoin than I had previously.

And wouldn't you know?  I stuck around and have been pretty active since then.  The scams keep happening, but the forum and bitcoin haven't changed much.  Cheers to that!

I learnt about Bitcoin because of bad news, but those were not bad new about the Bitcoin price or the Bitcoin ecosystem. It was when here in my country some payment method which people used to use to conduct purchases using United States Dollars got completely restricted and people would not be able to move their move anymore. It made me think about the possibility of using Bitcoin because I had heard it was a decentralized solution to hold value and I did not have to worry about it shutting down or checking changes in the terms of service, so I think it was perfect to me to try. Here we have problems with the government, to the point no one with a good memory would dare to trust their United States dollars to banks owned by the State.

So when my Bitcoin journey started I was mostly on Reddit, until someone out of the blue mentioned this forum and the fact its founder was satoshi himself, so I felt like creating my account here. I believe that from the beginning of the use of my first wallet until the creation of my account in the forum less than 4 months happened. Since I started to participate here I have learnt a lot and all of it has helped me to be more difficult to fall victim of scams.

About the second question " How did you know about Bitcointalk " there was a similar thread made from DdmrDdmr  Poll - How did you find out about Bitcointalk?
But it was a Poll and is locked now , there are a lot stories where you can see and read how Users found there way to Bitcointalk.

For me personal i found my way to the Forum from a friend 10 years ago but without registering and mostly reading stuff about mining and how all works.
About Bitcoin also from my friend and started mining Bitcoin with GPU without any knowledge 11 or 12 years ago.

I've been hearing about bitcoin for some time but never have any interest in it due to many times I've heard about digital investments scams and haven being one of the victim to some of these online scam, so i don't like hearing about anything that has to do with digital currency or Investment because my believe then was scam, until a friend invited me to join bitcointalk and encourage me to Invest before i took courage to start at least from somewhere and Invested little on bitcoin.

In either case as mentioned, it’s all news but, mine wasn’t entirely news though

In the first instance;
When I first heard of Bitcoin as a term or some project out there, it was through a Ponzi scheme of which, it was outlined as some of the payment media. Yeah, I had those experience with ponzi and that’s in the wind now that I know better but, they actually mentioned Bitcoin to me for a first time.

Unfortunately, I didn’t know what these Bitcoin was, never cared to research on it as I centered my values on fiat which is more family, traditional and values are already know including it’s usability. Not until later after the crash of Ponzi schemes, the innovation later came as a briefing from a friend. The rest is history.

As per Bitcointalk;
I was introduced. There wasn’t an Dejavu about it but then, a personal reorientation followed and I try to better myself every other day.

I think I have seen similar topic here which I also involved in the discussion but it won't hurt to highlight mine first encounter again. Well for me it was from a bad view because Bitcoin was all the rave in my locality and for some reason many people despised it because of the massive flow ponzi scheme around that particular period and how I came to be involved in Bitcoin itself is as  of a miracle because with all the hate and wrong perception I had, I never taught that one day I would be the one receiving Bitcoin as a means of payment. A close friend of mine then sat me down and lectured me and change my whole view about the trending technology and since installed the curiosity in me it was only a matter of time that I became eager to find out more of which he directed me to this community to learn first hand for myself.

**In BTC since 2013**
-snip-
I must have heard about Bitcoin in 2010-2011, although I found the idea interesting, I simply followed suit! (How stupid!) At the beginning of 2013 I found an article about Bitcoin and the appreciation that had already occurred since its creation, and how people could mine and obtain some coins. And that's how I entered the world of Bitcoin.
It was a very opportune time and a year after Bitcoin was released by Satoshi on January 3, 2009 and then Bitcointalk was launched on November 22, 2009.
You might be able to buy a lot of Bitcoin back then and forget that you could buy it, LOL.

Even you are talking about mining which will certainly lead to how to earn a lot of Bitcoins easily with a computer or mining device created.

I got to know all this in 2016, it was also quite early even though I had a lot of Bitcoin through this forum and sold it when ATH in late 2017.
But you're very lucky to be at the beginning and know it all.

The thing is, I didn't get to enjoy it, which was a shame.

In 2010-2011, when I heard about Bitcoin, I found the idea interesting, but I didn't explore it so I didn't buy it or mine it.
In 2013 it was different, I started to explore the Bitcoin universe more, and then I started mining with a GPU. But, at the time, the first ASICs were appearing, and after a few months I ended up stopping mining. That was perhaps my biggest mistake, I should have invested in mining at the time. So basically I ended up not having taken advantage of that time.

I'm not rich because of BTC, but I can tell that practically all the bitcoin I have was the result of this mining in 2013. I bought very little BTC at the time.

I am not sure. Knowing me, I probably typed "bitcoin" (like "the fuck is this shit and where can i get sum") on google and google returned this website. It is because of that I joined here in late 2013. Most OG's usually hang on underground news portals like 4chan as OP mentioned so they knew about bitcoin before the crowd. By the time it was on google, the masses started to learn about it. I remember the day when bitcoin crashed to $100 like it happened yesterday. Then it went to $1000. Mt.Gox was huge, btc-e was the second big. poloniex, cryptsy had some serious fans too. All dead now. (is poloniex alive? probably ded)

I don't know... it was 10 years ago that I entered the forum for the first time.  Roll Eyes

Probably the result of some Google research to get more information about Bitcoin. What I do know is that I registered as soon as I realized that the forum was the main information center about Bitcoin. This must have happened the first time I entered the forum.

Slava Ukraini!
I already wrote several times how I discovered Bitcointalk. Short answer is Google. In my early Bitcoin days I used faucets to make money and I was looking for faucet lists to maximize my earnings. In this way I got Bitcointalk Micro Earnings board in search results. For some time I was browsing here without account, later made account, but was a bit afraid to post. Later I started posting only on Micro Earnings board and eventually went into other boards. And the rest is history.

The real question is: did you join Bitcointalk before or after you discovered you can earn money from signature campaigns?
Yeah, when I joined Bitcointalk I had no idea what is signature campaign and it a while for me to discover it. In my early months here I saw many posts were people told that you can earn from signature andI thought - WTF is that? Had no idea what is signature campaign,, I thought that it can be someone paying money for signups or signing petition Cheesy. I saw that many members here are wearing colourful signatures, but I couldn't relate it with signature campaign, I thought that people just promote their own projects or affiliate links.

Uhmmmm.... y'all mean Theymos didn't know about Bitcoin at the time the forum was created? I'm tryna believe this RN honestly...yeah, I thought he came in the early days but was atleast a part of the creation plan or whatsoever - maybe that's why he was made an ADM? Or maybe it's a plot twist for me.

I actually knew about Bitcoin as a digital currency; it wasn't a broad knowledge as I never knew anything about the technical part of it.. I was referred by a friend and a business partner with the sole purpose of getting to broaden my knowledge.. it was after about 6 months, when I recovered from my prolonged illness that I realized they never knew about sig campaigns at first.

To my awareness, this same topic has been discussed more than twice already, and I believe there might be similar topics that have been discussed too, even before I joined the forum.

I heard people mention Bitcoin several times; it did not sound like an important thing to me then. I was skeptical regarding what technology meant until I actually developed an interest and also attended a seminar back in school. Then I invested and also got referred to the forum.

How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
First time I heartd about bitcooin was back in 2013, while browsing on a popular Croatian forum. It was the late 2013 and bitcoin was in the middle of bull run and when I realized that its possible to make some money via PC (and back in those days I always had a high end gaming PC which was ideal for shitcoin mining) I was hooked. Unfortunately, few months later I had to make a break due real life stuff and I came back few years later.

How did you know about Bitcointalk?
Heard it from a friend back in 2013 but since I was member of that Croatian forum for 10+ years, I didn't really felt need to register here as well. Eventually it became kinda boring over there (during previous bear market) so I decided to check whats going on bitcointalk and here I am ever since.

I'm not sure if it'd fall into either of these categories, but to answer your question, the first time that I read about it was on a gaming-related Facebook group that mentioned you can use your GPUs to earn something [I don't think it even had a concrete proof at the time].

I must say that since I joined this forum, it has really been an experience any crypto enthusiasts will want to have. I came to the forum completely by accident. I was busy for several years on another forum, completely far from cryptocurrencies. Every day, for about three years, I visited that forum, and one day I could not access it because, for reasons unknown, the forum was not working. This lasted for five days. However, during this time, I managed to see a video on YouTube about this forum and moved to this forum.
I learned about Bitcoin a long time ago, but I was also not interested in it since I was paid on the Internet with other digital money. I will say more: I was offered payment in bitcoins, but since I did not understand it, I did not take such a proposal into account.
Once on the forum, I was united by the desire to learn about Bitcoin and the entire climate of the forum, after which all other places became uninteresting to me.

One other friends in the telegram recommend me local board so I started from posting in the local board. Time went by so fast and I didn't even realize that how my account ranked up from newbie to Hero. • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
My straight forward answer is that I learnt about Bitcoin from Bitcointalk forum. I'm not sure if anyone else has learnt about Bitcoin by joining this forum but I'm the one who learnt about Bitcoin and crypto-currencies from this forum. Basically I was searching for ways to sell some digital goods and when I made a Google search I got a thread in this forum. I was not aware about Bitcoin or crypto-currencies but once I started reading some threads in this forum and then started reading some books I learned that what Bitcoin is and why it was created.

I'm very thankful to that guy who posted that digital goods thread on this forum because of that thread my life changed. This forum and Bitcoin has given me a lot in my life and I'm very thankful to Bitcoin and to this forum. I was basically active on digital goods board in start but overtime I started browsing various boards of the forum. Now, I rarely visit the digital good board but it was my pathway to learn about Bitcoin and this forum.

The first time I heard about Bitcoin was in 2011 on an NPR podcast I used to listen to. They didn't do a great job of describing what it was, but the hosts did a test investment and saw their investment rise over 100% in a few months. It sounded like real nerd money. Was not something I was interested in at the time.

Then I heard Andreas Antonopoulos talking about it on the Joe Rogan Experience a few years later. The way he explained it, it sounded like it was going to be the next big thing and revolutionize money. And indeed it was, and it did. I bought my first BTC in early 2014, unaware of what was happening at MtGOX. I didn't understand what you were supposed to do with it as it wasn't really accepted for anything anywhere, and it was getting boring just watching the value go down.

That's when I discovered altcoins, and then I found this forum. My first questions on the forum were all about altcoins. Super glad to have discovered Counterparty back in those first few months. Since then, Bitcoin has transformed my life. While somewhat scary being detached from the old ways, Bitcoin offers a great deal of freedom over the traditional financial system, and I have completely embraced it.

Knowing Bitcoin and Bitcointalk has been a good experience for me, and if you ask questions about the two as you contemplated, you are still fine with them. They are such lovely experiences that people can recount over and over again. Smiley

First, I have been in the world of investment and trading for about 2 decades, so to know Bitcoin was very easy. I don't think it would be more than 3 years of introducing it that I know about it but I never gave it a thought to buy and keep it. However, it got to a point where I was regularly using it for payments and even trading it on the regular brokers, but never owned my coin until I joined BTCt.

As for the Bitcointalk itself, my brother introduced it to me. He did that almost about 4 years ago but I never gave it much thought. I just viewed its review on YouTube, and then, when I was searching about it, I only saw just two posts there. The one with a somewhat detailed review was just saying how people were sentimental here, which made me abandon the forum for about 2 years. This happened until my brother encouraged me to open it again, which I eventually did last year.

I actually know about Bitcoin from good news, and my perception of knowing about it was because of the good things I heard about it investment-wise, even though there were misinterpretations, and because the person I heard about it from did not actually have good knowledge about Bitcoin itself but was guiding me towards airdrops, which is how I got to know the Bitcointalk forum.

I think I first came across the term Bitcoin from an IT magazine I used to read.  There were these mixed messages. Like some stories talked it up as this total gamechanger for finance.  But then others focused on how volatile it was, and the risks tied up with it.  Kinda typical media stuff - building something up just to tear it down again.

Anyway, I wanted to dig deeper into this Bitcoin thing so I Googled around and  stumbled on Bitcointalk as one of the bigger forums on it.  Lotta hype and arguing from what I saw but there was some decent info in there too.  Felt like an online version of those magazine stories - some believers yelling about revolution, others yelling about scams, your usual Internet drama.  But it got me reading and learning more at least.  Wink

Now, two questions for you.
  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
I know Bitcoin from YouTube but nah, it is not from that good news Cry Unfortunately, I heard about Bitcoin coins from YouTubers who spread FUD about Bitcoin without knowing it properly. I probably first heard about Bitcoin from YouTubers in my local language and naturally, initially based on their description, I thought Bitcoin was something illegal that was only used by hackers and bad people. • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
No, I didn't know about Bitcoin talk forum on any other forum or website, I get to know about Bitcointalk forum mainly from one of my friends. I would like to thank that friend of mine from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to the bitcointalk forum otherwise, it might have taken me a long time to clear my misconceptions about Bitcoin. The interesting thing though is that before I got to know Bitcoin and Bitcointalk, I got to know TRX coin and made a small investment there.

All the answers are on Bitcointalk.
The first time I was able to get to know Bitcoin was because my friend who joined first on Bitcointalk was able to get a lot of Bitcoin,
up to dozens of Bitcoins at that time around 2015-2016.
I joined the forum in April 2016, and it opened my eyes to Bitcoin as a decentralized digital currency that is very different from other currencies.

As time went by and became active on Bitcointalk, it was also at that time that I started to learn Bitcoin and how Bitcoin works.
As well as participating in various bounty and airdrop campaigns that reward BTC.
Collecting 5 BTC in 2016 seems very easy, and of course the price at that time is also cheaper.

  • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
    • Previously, I thought of a discussion about the first question but later I thought about the second question and it's possible to combine them in one topic. Then I decided to make this thread in Meta than in Bitcoin Discussion board.

Before I had the mind to join here I have been hearing about Bitcoin on media and some other people saying it at some point most of our local musian do include it in their rap to make their songs look more flowing but then I still don't understand what it's but after some while decided to make research about bitcoin it was then I began to have the basic understanding before I finally find myself inside here, even as that I still don't have time to follow up the news due to my schedule and time to put down here to study and understand things more it was here I purchased my little fraction of bitcoin through help of our local friends I was able to download exchange app to make deposit to start buying BTC.

Bitcoin makes the world go 🔃
I first saw the word Bitcoin on our local forum Symbianize.com that involves anything about online technology discussion. Some guy in there create a topic on how he earn passively using faucets by solving captchas. I become easily hookup because I’m always a fan of ptc websites that rewards me $ in paypal that time.

In my pursue of studying Bitcoin, I gained a lot of local friends in social media that have same interests with Bitcoin and one of them share me Bitcointalk due to the possibility of earning extra Bitcoin by joining signature campaign.

Farewell o_e_l_e_o
By chance, I remembered about one post of theymos, that I think it is worthy to discuss.

How did you came to know about Bitcoin first ?

I saw someone mention it on 4chan. They were complaining about the long block download time. Smiley

Here is what I wrote in another topic.
Do you see it is a legendary thinking style?

Most of us start to be interested in something when there are good news about it but years ago, theymos started to interested in Bitcoin when he saw someone complained about it.
