I don't know much about programming so I am not knowledgeable so what I can say is that if Clover isn't crypto friendly enough for you, why not use a different one then? If it takes a lot of time to program then you have a dilemma in your hand, either start early to finish it early or don't and the problem will persist.

Any ideas of how I could accept crypto payments outside of Clover without making it too difficult on the baristas?

There are many payment processors that you can use for accepting crypto payments and adding them on your website but I think there is a way to add crypto payments directly for your Clover device.
You can try contacting this guys who can add a Bitcoin or Litecoin payment buttons to your Clover POS like you can see in video below.
I didn't try doing this myself, it looks like it's only available in United States and you can contact @jonnylitecoin on Twitter or on their website for more information.

bitcoin is very volatile so you need one that can offer cheap fees such as lighting networks
you can follow this suggestion from @dkbit98 in another thread

Maybe you can update this list of payment processors and add BitfinexPay service that accepts Bitcoin, Lightning Network BTC, Ethereum and USDT token.

You can also add second non-custodial service nash.io that have zero fees and accept Bitcoin and some altcoins.

I didn't test this two payment processors myself so I suggest to do your own research before using any of them.

Really cryptocurrency is the order of the day currently, if really that you indulge yourself in process Bitcoin can beuse in as a means of payment or other financial transaction, i would like to encourage that Bitcoin is far better thananother currency such as fiat because it appreciate in value than fiat currency, so accepting crypto is more valuable and reliable via investment for global or digital world,

Coinbase commerce and bitpay could be a nice gate way for crypto payment. It's API is reliable and has a user friendly interface. Although they are both non-custodial wallets but reliable for cryto transactions since they are both fast and swift.
You can still DYOR since it's far preferred you get a collection of information then find that which suits your taste better.

It's against their policy to use cryptocurrency integrations I'm afraid.
I would probably handle the few ones there may be manually instead. I doubt it will be much of a hassle. Just need a wallet on your phone that supports most cryptos.

Here is your solution, use btcpayserver. It's an open-source Bitcoin payments getaway and noncustodial as well. So there is no need for any KYC or something similar like this. If you don't want to take the risk with your funds then btcpayserver is the best solution. Even you can accept altcoin as well if you need it. You can host it on your own server if you have technical knowledge, or you may use their party server listed by btcpayserver. If you need a more easy solution then you might simply use coinbase API. But I will not recommend using it since they need KYC and it's a custodial web wallet. For that you should have your own system (website) out of Colver, otherwise receive Bitcoin manually is better option imo.

Here you can find a possible solution: List Bitcoin payment processor

Owner of a small coffeeshop here that uses a Clover mini along with a Clover flex for our point of sale system. From what I can tell, Clover doesn't appear to be crypto friendly. Not seeing any apps that can handle crypto payments in the app store. Any suggestions with Clover?
