would the mods of bitcointalk create a child board in the altcoin section where people can post links to potential scams and the evidence to support it?

They already have. It's called Announcements (Altcoins)  Grin. 99% of them are scams in some way or are only intended for their devs to make a quick buck off a pump and dump. People need to learn to leave them well enough alone.

ah people never learn.. iv watched so many people fall for the same scam over and over and they never learn.. someone launches a coin a flat out refuses to allow escrow to be used, runs a self moderated thread and he gets 143btc in investment... nuts!

It happens more than you think it would. And they don't know any better.

would the mods of bitcointalk create a child board in the altcoin section where people can post links to potential scams and the evidence to support it? they wouldnt have to deal with the scams but it would give the alt section a great place for people to check if any given alt is listed in that section and read the arguments for or against it being a scam? at the moment there is no where to post such info, other than posting a thread in the announcement section of the altcoin section.. which then gets swallowed up by the other threads in seconds!

You can't really do anything about scams. You just have to take it.

ya im not getting scammed.. but many others might be.. :/ its looking the same as sharecoin.. (they actually launched a coin and an exchange.. then once loads of btc and many other coins had been deposited they made off with them)

In a world of peaches, don't ask for apple sauce
Mods/admins don't moderate or deal with scams. The community policies itself over these matters.
I can confirm that. Moderating scams leaves too much room for authority abuse.

Hilarious is right. The best thing you could do to bring it to their attention is to report it, but that doesn't mean they'll do anything about it.
