Well to get your free bitcoincash for free is not attainable anymore. Yes, it was attainable before particularly at August 1. Where for every bitcoin you have you will get the same amount of BCH. And the only thing for you to get bch or to avail bch is to buy one right now. It is sad that you did not have btc during the fork.
Yes really like the explanation you say that get bitcoincash for free now you can not get it anymore, bitcoincash free only yesterday on August 1, every balance you have then you will get Bitcoincash, but time is too late, be patient.

If you have bitcoin on Aug 1, then you have bitcoincash in the same wallet, you need to extract private key and import to a bitcoincash compatible wallet, then you'll get it.

If you have bitcoin it is easy to get bitcoin cash, you just have to go to ShapeShift.io and exchange your Bitcoin with bitcoin cash. or go to bittrex and buy bitcoin cash there.

If you had your bitcoins on Poloniex prior to August 1st, they should have already distributed your Bitcoincash to you.
If you transferred your bitcoins to Poloniex AFTER August 1st, then you will need to buy the bitcoincash in the normal manner.
This is right, not only poloniex, Bittrex also gave free BCH to those who kept bitcoins on their site before August 1st. After this date, there is no free BCH issue from any site you need to buy through Bitcoins. I was one time opportunity you missed it now you don't have another method you must buy if you want BCH.
