If you are new to cryptography, there are a few things you can do to increase your level of confidence and reliability in your decision making:

Learn the basics of cryptography. Start by learning the terminology and basic principles of how cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies work. Many important terms and concepts may not be clear to beginners, so online courses, blogs, forums, and social media communities can be a good source of information.

Don't invest all your money in one cryptocurrency. Diversify your portfolio to reduce the risk of capital loss. Study different projects, their teams, financials and technical specifications before investing.

Never trust your private keys to anyone else. Private keys are used to access your cryptocurrencies, so keep them in a safe place such as cold storage or a secure hard drive.

Explore different ways to protect your funds such as multi-factor authentication (2FA), using highly complex passwords, using hardware wallets like Trezor or Ledger, etc.

Be careful when choosing cryptocurrency exchanges. Study their reputation, regulation and safety. Choose those exchanges that have a high level of security, that regularly conduct security audits and provide protection against hacking.

Don't invest more than you can afford to lose. Like any other form of investment, cryptocurrencies do not guarantee profit. Never risk money that you cannot afford to lose.

It is good that you are specific, the things you need to do as a new to this forum are a bit similar and slightly different from the things you need to do as a newbie to cryptocurrency. For what you need to succeed in cryptocurrency is Information, Knowledge and some element of mentorship, guidance that can be offered personally by someone or offered via involvement and commitment to forums and genuine groups like this that the main focus is bitcoin and then other general cryptocurrency discussions are also being permitted. To be confident like you want, you need knowledge and information, things you can only get by being dedicated to learning and researching.

Don't see making profits on Bitcointalk as your first priority,
Learn about crypto and have an understanding first before even thinking of investing in crypto,

It's been said here many times, but people who come to the forum are very often not interested in cryptocurrencies, but how to get merit, how to get rank, how to earn a bounty, etc. This is common far beyond the forum. 9 out of 10 new people coming into the crypto industry don't want to learn about cryptocurrencies, they want to make money from cryptocurrency. No wonder why scams are becoming more and more popular every year. After all, many people don't know how to protect themselves from these scams and expose themselves to the lure of easy money that they will never make.

The majority of novice users at this time indeed their main goal is to make money from crypto, and it will have an impact on how to get merit easily and so on.
But when we use the old system or those of us who have been here longer than beginners, we feel how the previous system was not too strict, so that users really learn cryptocurrency not because they want to get a lot of money but want to know how crypto works. The merit system is also applied to limit those who just want to play without being serious in the forum, so that it will be easy to be filtered. Newbies who are able to survive and develop can pass the merit system easily, as long as they have the desire to contribute well and get appreciation from other users.
Newbies can only become food for scammers, because as you said, they will be easy to lure into big profits without doing a decent job. when they step into the trap the scammer will start doing his job. The more stupid beginners, the more scammers will set traps.

There is no perfect way to succeed in crypto but the first thing you should do is educate your self learn as much as you can about crypto, bitcoin history, trading, trends, etc...

Crypto is too volatile so I'd like to suggest also learn risk management in trading you should learn when to buy and sell and the safest way to trade is always use stop-loss orders.

And take note this does not get rich quick scheme so don't expect to get rich overnight. Trading requires long-term and patience.

If you want a source to learn about trading then start reading this below.

Success can never be predicted but through making yourself educated and fully acquire the skills that are highly needed, then you will gain higher chances to be successful as time goes by. So learn first the basics and eventually improve your learning along with your experience. And as a newbie, expect that losses will always be inevitable so in order to lessen the risk of losing, always have the risk management and invest only at your own risk.

In general, the thing that needs to be done from me is to believe in ourselves without ignoring the advice and criticism that can push us to the desired stage.
For example, in trading, we should not be ashamed to ask questions and follow the experience of experienced traders and admit every mistake and be willing to make mistakes as a valuable lesson.

So far, I still avoid things that can deceive myself.

Mistake is the best teacher in crypto space but to limit your chances of messing things up you need to keep learning, since you are new it is better to learn about Bitcoin first and learn more about how to keep your wallet safe from scammers, before anything else, learn about safety first. Don't always feel like you know everything, because knowledge is a never ending road, you need to keep learning and if you have any question in mind that you have not find answer to, do not hesitate to create topic about it on this forum.

First of all welcome to bitcointalk forum. You are a new member of the forum and you have expressed interest to know, of course you will. First of all you go through different sections of the forum and in different sections you will find many posts pinned so read those posts carefully first. And stay active on the forum regularly. Then if you think that you will invest in any coin then read investment related posts well and take investment related information from various online platforms and invest certain amount of money that losing money will not affect your life. Because there is a lot of risk in investing. Investing is not like the hundred percent profit you can get. But to be successful there is a need to take risks.  This way you can slowly move forward in life and hopefully you will learn a lot as time changes.

Always think positively, self-confidence will arise when you fill your mind with positive things. Everyone has their own strengths, you must find strengths in yourself and focus on developing them. Never feel inferior when involved in discussions with seniors in the forum, they will guide you in the right direction when you make a small accidental mistake.
The knowledge you have can be poured here through new topics or replying to other users' comments, courage will shape your character who is still trapped in a circle of lack of confidence. If you have any new ideas or information, don't ever hesitate to share them here.

Yunno what, read every advice into your head, then to your own discretion -- decide which one to utilize.
I'll say that's you do much of READING and LISTENING than actions at this actual stage. Always make sure about not rushing into any new updates you see; whatever you're investing in should be under proper scrunity by your own self and different authentic reviews from others too.
Don't invest much at first site; try as much as possible not to be thriven by GREED, this is the ONE thing that make alot of peeps fall for major scam projects... BE WATCHFUL.

What are your goals as a newbie? I'm sure it is not only about being confident. Get knowledge & experience should be the priority, right?
So, make a clear plan for your goals, then you can determine your success as a newbie. Don't make a nonsense goal such as being rich instantly or the like, your goals must be appropriate things to be achieved as a newbie.

You shouldn't be confused about where to start. You can start by reading pinned threads in this section, there are some important suggestions you can find out on the threads. Especially this thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newbies-read-before-posting-1689727, it is like a guide for every newbie. You must need it, dude!!

Kindly advise, do more of research about the areas you're interested to learn, BTC is very wide, I don't think anybody has the monopoly ideas of how it operate. There are risk involves, which nobody can talk you out of it. This is internet world google the basic materials about bitcoin, jote down your findings, practically follow the steps in accordance to your findings, then while on research attend seminars, campaigns, ask questions and finally pick someone who is good enough on cryptosystem to stay close to and observe his or her directives and follows suites. With due time you will come up good decision.

From my perspective there's only one thing that you should do as a newbie which will attain you confidence as well as knowledge and that is "reading and learning".
Keep reading and learning whatever you can, wherever you can and whenever you can.
This forum is a great place to start and you will automatically know what more to learn when you keep reading throughout the forum.
Keep exploring and that is how you will attain enough knowledge to tackle anything that comes against you.

You are welcome to the forum OP.

If you are in some kind of hurry, to invest, start your journey with Bitcoin, just don't invest with money you will need in a few weeks or months, Bitcoin favours the long-term holders more.

Avoid altcoins under top 10 and learn about them first, you shouldn't buy something you don't really understand, so focus on Bitcoin for now and learn to use the forum search engine to get quick answered questions and to also avoid creating topics that have been discussed too many times before.

Spend time doing research on crypto wallets, the forum search engine will guide you through. Open source wallets are the most reliable,  Electrum is the best for Bitcoin, if you can't afford to buy a hardware wallet.

Good luck.

I can only advise against investing in something you don't completely understand and against investing more money than you can afford to lose. The forum has a ton of helpful information, so it's best to start by reading the sticky topics in this board that can assist you as a beginner. It's also not a bad idea to check out the Meta board. After that, just start at the top of the forum and scroll down to look for new stuff; you'll eventually find something that grabs your attention.
Nobody should or can make decisions for you, thus you won't discover any sort of recipe for success in life.

OP, as a crypto newbie, should look out for scam threats. Most newbies are prone to falling victim to scammers, but it is good you asked here. Be smart and conscious, bro; a bad experience is when you invest in crypto and you finally lose all your assets. The phrase "not your token, not your coin" should always be at the back of your mind. which means you must protect your wallet seed phrase because the most important part of cryptocurrency is security. Note that scammers are everywhere: on Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, etc. Be careful.

Have you thought about earning bitcoins through your work, translation, design work, reviews and other ways? This is perhaps the safest way to earn bitcoins and crypto, but of course you have to develop certain skills and knowledge for it.
Many people probably think about it, OP is no exception. But without specific skills and a good marketing strategy about the service, then no one will be able to compete with reputable users in this community who offer the same services.

Signature campaign, yes - that's another option the OP could consider as a safe option if he want to earn bitcoin. But, to earn bitcoin from signatures is definitely not something that is really easy for a newbie to think about. There must be effort and consistency in post, getting merit, rank up, maintaining the quality of post and also competing with other potential applicants.

OP, you haven't explained your situation and what you really want, so it's hard to give you a concrete answer.
If you want to trade crypto and make money that way, then I would advise you not to rush and to first learn the basics of crypto trading and how to do crypto analysis.
At the same time, you must learn to control your emotions, set a concrete plan, in accordance with your financial and personal situation, and have a clear exit strategy.
You can also choose a more careful and slower strategy to earn in crypto, such as one time buying a certain amount of btc and holding that btc for a long time in your wallet until the value of btc increases enough for you.
In both cases, it is a risky investment and you should be aware of that.
Have you thought about earning bitcoins through your work, translation, design work, reviews and other ways? This is perhaps the safest way to earn bitcoins and crypto, but of course you have to develop certain skills and knowledge for it.

My personal experience is that when you truly trade independently, you can be sure of yourself and your judgment. Because trading will expose you to both positive and negative situations, which can contribute to your trading development. Nonetheless, you should always conduct your own research and remain calm when making decisions because your assets could disappear in a split second. I advise you to do some online research and further your exploration so that you have thoughts that will give you confidence in the choices you will be making. It would be beneficial to have connections like these with people because they can provide you with ideas, thus it makes sense in my opinion to ask for advise here. Wishing you luck as you pursue trading!

Don't really know where to start but hopefully I will with your help.
Being confident at yourself would come by different context.
In the part of investments would be one aspect to it and with regards to the forum, as per being confident in the information you put out would be the other.

Be it either one, it always starts by trying, experimenting and the feedback or results you get from your triers or experiments. The little success you get from those builds your confidence and makes you better. You don't go about getting confidence by looking at other users parameters for a thread or out of what means other persons used to attain there goals but, from your failures and wins.

Instead of being scarry of failing, try and fail and then take corrections. It does get better.

I think that the enthusiasm to learn is very important to determine whether you are really serious in the crypto world or not. because so many people come here and are just excited at the beginning. but they will back down when they are strived to continue to be enthusiastic, motivated, and able to manage risks so they can optimize their own potential. Here, we can see how newbies always try to get money quickly, but they forget that they can only get it because of their own efforts, not just a matter of luck.

Learning, learning, and more learning will help you gain insight and confidence in the decisions you make for yourself. Because practice makes perfect, I recommend that you conduct your own research and learn something new about cryptocurrency every day, as this will provide you with a better lead and guide here.

Simply relying on books or reading online will not guarantee your success in this area of learning; you must put it into practice and thoroughly research market trends in comparison to what you've learned online. This will help you make better decisions and determine your next steps in the market. With consistent learning of new things in cryptocurrency, you'll become your own coach.

Ideally you should try harder to learn and keep looking around what you want to achieve, if a lot of advice is given to you, but it is not implemented correctly it will also not produce anything, for me it is better to learn something that is easier for you to understand and not forcing something you can't accept.

You have been a beginner for so long, the advice that has been given to you should have been properly applied, but so far your progress has not been smooth sailing, it takes more serious hard work to get you out of the beginner's word.

Don't be afraid to make mistake in the early stages, be it on trading, or investing on crypto, every successful person out there have made mistakes but they never give up, they learn from their mistake, once you have gain experience, you will never doubt yourself again, since nobody is perfect.

Hi everyone,

As a newbie in crypto what are the things to do and not to do that will make me attain to the level of being confident and reliable on the decision I make.
Don't really know where to start but hopefully I will with your help.

I thought an idea is really welcome.
Thanks.
For me if you want to be a good member here then youll focus on the goal of learning first from forum rules to different terms and concept must be understand first especially learning bitcoin concept and idea within the scope of its technology and other stuff. Dont extend yourself on altcoins if you dont know grasp the blockchaim tech first.  You could also be a good contributor here and be part of some signature campaign if you rank up. But thats not the matter only an additional perks if you become a quality poster.

OP, you should definitely read all the forum rules. You wrote three posts in a row, which indicates ignorance of the rules. Try to respect the laws of the society you decide to join. Besides, you once found this forum, and you were interested in it for a while, but then you left. There are no problems with this; many people do not understand what they want the first time. But for now, try exploring the forum on your own. Read more; there is no need to create topics for each question with similar questions. Read not only the answers in this thread, but also move on, trying to explore the forum yourself.
No one will lead you by the hand. Understand the rule: you need the forum, not the forum needs you. Therefore, act like a man by having goals and achieving them.

The first thing to do when someone is going to be more confident in something is by the learning process. The more you understand, the more you will become confident. Learning basically can lead you to understand about cryptocurrency, investment, and all things related to the crypto business. Learning will make you more careful and wiser in deciding something, especially in investment. Btw, learning here is not only about learning from some theory but also learning from some other explanation including someone's experiences.

Secondly, I do agree with some members here that being a newbie is very risky to get scammed. That is why: Never trust anyone on the internet, moreover the one who contacts you and gives you a high promise to help you earn money. Don't trust those people because they are scammers that will scam and get your money, mostly like this.

Not to do

- Don't be too reliant on others decision like asking what coins you should invest and whatever is suggested to you, you'll take them, just no.
- Avoid those obvious too good to be true offers as they're likely a scam.

To do

- Believe in yourself that you'll eventually get there. The stairs might not be too easy and small but just initiate and do it.
- Keep researching and learning, everyone here is no perfect and we've got things that we still need to learn.
- DCA and buy bitcoin.

it would be best if you did not trust unknown people on the internet. you can ask for advice here or anywhere, but your money is at stake, so always think carefully about what you are doing.

When you say, you are a newbie, what exactly do you mean? Two years ago you also asked for advice on investing in Bitcoin, what happened?
Why are you still a beginner even after 2 years?

Hi everyone, I want to learn about Bitcoin and investing. I need help on how to go about investing in Bitcoin which I don't know if I can take the risk. I have $3k which I want to keep in the bank but I'm thinking of investing it into Bitcoin. If I purchase Bitcoin now, is their any way I can profit from it from now till next year May? I am planning of using the money next year for business.

Should I take the risk of investing in Bitcoin now or better still put it in the bank?
Will I lose my money if I invest now?

Honestly, I wasn't serious with what I wanted at that time that made me abandon knowledge for pleasure, this single act of ignorance really make opportunity pass me by.
actually am not a newbies like that but I want to start as one, I really want to make it right this time.

When you say, you are a newbie, what exactly do you mean? Two years ago you also asked for advice on investing in Bitcoin, what happened?

Lol... As funny as this may appear, it's still possible. It might be that the user is disguising as a newbie to attract sympathy or help or for whatever reason(s).
But in a Real sense, some users open account here and may not find here friendly and hence abandoned it and may decide to return later, hence their newbie status remains.
Again, some people can be here for more than 2yrs and even grow their account upto senior member rank, but the knowledge of bitcoin in their head is like that of a newbie. So, it would be correct if they address themselves as newbies.
That may be true, but I think OP has spent enough years on the forum not to know how to use the search engine. I checked his post history and I don’t think OP should be making this kind of thread. For someone who started trading spots in 2021, he should have a decent knowledge of bitcoin. This may be another meriting fishing thread, if he doesn’t get merits we probably won’t see OP for another five months.

Yes I started 2021 but those years are wasted years because I was doing nothing to improve the little I know so I abandon everything but now I want to  start a fresh

It's actually quite simple, you just need to study harder and learn what you have to do in this forum. You can find a lot of knowledge through this forum. Being a successful newbie can start with being a good member who can contribute more to the forum. if you want to invest as a beginner make sure you do your research, because the research will determine whether you should do it or not. Crypto investment is quite risky, you should know that. But the benefits are also greater. You have to learn how to trade and such.

Firstly read all pinned post in your board of interest that’s a good way to start. And depending on your knowledge of crypto-currency you had before joining I Think making post should be less for you and only when you have some questions answered but always first research on it.

And other things you need to do is follow the rules of the forum, if you had thought the forum as quick riches forum debunk those thoughts and work for your development.

Checked your post history. Your issue isn't anything concerning confidence and reliability — it's the lack of knowledge.

If you're not willing to study a lot, then you're pretty much stuck.

From my experience, I think you can say you can be confident and reliable on your decisions when you really trade by your own. Because you'll experience good and bad events in trading which can be part of your development in trading. But always do your own research and composed when making a decision, because your assets might gone in just a second. I suggest you to look up some ideas thru the internet, explore more so you can have ideas that makes you confident in decision you'll make. Having a connection like this with people would really help you since they'll give you ideas so I think it's smart asking here for tips and advices. Good luck in your trading journey!

If you aspire to learn, then you are in the right place. Or I can say that you are in the best place you can benefit from cognitively.
If you are one of the pioneers of the forums and do not hesitate to share your experiences and ideas with others, then you will certainly not find many difficulties during your attempts to deal with Bitcointalk. The most important thing that I can advise you is to look at the fixed topics in each of the meta and beginners sections, and do not hesitate to publish a topic in which you raise any issue that you did not understand or any difficulties you encountered while trying to learn something.

All I know is knowledge and education, you will only become confident if you know what to do and how to address issues on whatever issue you are facing, and starts by reading a lot of searching for the truth, the trust will set you free and it will give you the confidence to proceed in the right decision, just like a doctor who is confident on what to prescribe to his patient, so do you if you are knowledgeable, knowledge is indeed power.

Do you still consider yourself a beginner, even though by your own admission you started trading in 2021?

I just started trading not that long now and I don't know why people doesn't always talk about Spot trading and how less risky it can be when compared to Future trading. I found more pleasure in spot trading that had given me peace of mind without bothering myself of the fear of losing trades. Although spot trading is not a get rich quick type of trading because I don't have to leverage, making it very slow to make good profits but best for me.
~snip~

What I can give you as advice is not to invest more than you are ready to lose, and not to invest in something you don't fully understand. There is a lot of useful content on the forum, and it is best to start reading sticky topics in this board that can help you as a beginner, and it is not bad to visit the Meta board as well. After that, simply start from the top of the forum and scroll down in search of new content, in the end you will surely find something that interests you.

What you certainly won't find is some kind of formula for success in life, because no one should or can make decisions for you.
