i wonder why there are so many people trying to introduce a new digital currency based on bitcoin. can't believe that the 2 improvements those implementations have are going to change a whole market, so better invest your energy in bitcoin

The reason its taken awhile to actually add more features is that he had to fix the existing bitcoin codebase which was full of bugs and bad coding.

Maybe he should publish them along with whoever it was that let them in ?

He hasnt done so becasue hes too busy coding and improving the codebase to come here and explain it.

I ask you "Who let the bugs out ? "

People like having a choice. Competing currencies is better than having a monopoly in currency for several reasons. Or it could just be that people have different opinions on things and they arent being considered.

The US was desigend originally so that if you didnt like the money or policies of a particular state you could move somewhere else in the country. I think its the same with different bitcoin forks and we all mostly want the same things.

Bitcoin will probably end up regulated and under the thumb of the current banking system as Gavin and Jgarzik say. There are people to who that is obnoxious and insulting because the government does not know best when it comes to your own money. You shouldn't hand over that control easily because once given up you'll never get it back. Dont look at the current state of solidcoin and assume that is it because development is moving along fast and massive improvements in the merchant api's and innovations allowing everyone to be their own mini bank are on the way.

We dont need the current banking system weighing us down so we also hope to solve that issue. Bitcoin doesnt even look like breaking away from the current paradigm of reliance on the financial system. Do you hear anyone suggesting that this is possible with bitcoin or its all talk about keeping it tied to banks.
