BitInstant looks all right but their UK portal doesn't support my checking account (which isn't with the Big Banksters). I thought they would offer a direct transfer facility similar to what MtGox used to have at Barclays, but it seems not, unless I've missed something.

Have you found a way to purchase bitcoins? I would like to find a solution for you if not.

Not since September 25, but luckily I don't desperately need to exchange any more bankster paper for BTC right now. Hopefully Mt Gox or other reputable exchange will reactivate a commission-free UK portal in the near future anyway, or there'll be another option that doesn't rely on a cosy-in with the banksters.

Very useful, maybe I'll be able to use Quickbitcoins to get my hands on some before my miner arrives.

Can you provide a source?

Also, do you know of anyone who has done this 1st hand?

Cool site!

Note that BitInstant just launched an Online Bank Transfer method which works in a couple dozen countries including Mexico, Canada, and much of Europe. Fee is lower than the cash deposits and coins can be obtained even faster than the cash deposits.

woah.. you mean that you get the coins the SAME day? I figured you'd have to wait several business days like most ACH transfers.

If you know the answer, I'd love to know it too!

We've spent some time putting this guide together:

How to get BTC : http://howdoyoubuybitcoins.com/

Is it helpful to you? Can you suggest a better way for people like you to get bitcoins?

Thank you!  Cheesy
