Take out all and any distractions. But first you need to identify those and quickly make
a plan on how you will eradicate those.

Another tip is to set realistic and little goals. Cut your tasks into manageable chunks
so that you do not feel too overwhelmed and end up not doing it anymore. After completing these
little chunks, reward yourself. It does not matter too much what your reward will be as long as you
enjoy it and would make you feel motivated to finish all your tasks.

First, you need to answer the question why are you procrastinating?  Are you anxious with the task at hand?  Are you not motivated because you feel that what you are doing is just meaningless? Are you procrastinating because you are stuck and do not where to start?  By knowing the problem, then you can design a solution.  One thing that helps me know the problem is by journaling or making a mind map.  By journaling or making a mind map, you will see the overall picture of the reason or reasons why you are procrastinating, then you can provide solution for it.

Procrastination is not a disease rather it is a habit people exhibit out of laziness and fatigue. Procrastination is developed gradually, when you see something you ought to do , instead of doing it you postponed it. Day by day as time passes it gradually becomes a habit that is uncrontrolable, just like the way people get addicted to smoking and drinking until it becomes a part of their lifestyle.

How to control your habits of procrastination is by limiting yourselves from some act of laziness because the act of laziness can make you procrastinate. Whenever the spirit of procrastination comes you try as much as possible to overcome it by doing the needful at the right time than procrastinate.

Procrastination is a bit harder to fight because it is linked to the person's mindset. You have to change your thinking. Sometimes you like your work but not all the time. Remind yourself of these choices later. Remember the downsides of working hard are of your own making. When it starts to feel bad remind yourself why the task is important to you and learn to self-preservation. When we lack discipline we desire and find the prospect of reward difficult.

Trust me, from one procrastinator to another, it’s extremely difficult to fight off.

Lots of people say that it’s just laziness and maybe it is but it’s a lot more complex and complicated than that. Procrastination isn’t just putting things aside to scroll on your phone but sometimes even doing other “productive” things just so you don’t have to do whatever it is you don’t want is also considered procrastination.

From my own experience, setting too detailed schedule does not work. If I don’t end up following my schedule down to the minute, I will crash everything in the list and not get any work done. Instead, I try my best to do it the moment I think of it. If I know I have to do it now, I remove all distractions and get to work. Most importantly, I think of what to do after. I find that thinking about maybe a reward or another activity to do after I do the one I am currently doing helps me to finish it since I am already looking forward to what to do next.

It’s extremely hard and most likely you’re never gonna stop because you keep hitting the deadline anyway but this is no way to live. I hope I also get better but for now, little steps are enough.

Force yourself to be consistent with what you do. What urges you and makes you think that you shouldn't procrastinate? think of them.

There are tons of reasons for us to stop procrastinating but it's really hard to defeat this when you have been used to it and that's why break the cycle, do something meaningful and think of all of those reasons why you need to stop having this attitude.

It wouldn't bring you to your goal A and B if you keep doing this.

1. Pick Your Poison.

The key to beating procrastination is focus. We often give ourselves too many things to do and become overwhelmed. Start by choosing just ONE thing that you’ve been procrastinating and make a commitment to complete that task in the next week.

2. Start today.

Once you’ve narrowed it down to one task, you must take immediate action. Today. If it feels daunting or you don’t think you have enough time to complete the task, do the Five Minute Miracle below.

3. Five Minute Miracle.

This is one of the best techniques for people who struggle with procrastination. The Five Minute Miracle involves asking yourself; “Hmm, what action can I take in less than five minutes TODAY that moves this forward even the tiniest bit?” Once you’ve identified a small action, set a timer for five minutes and spend five minutes working on the task. Research shows that once you start something, you’re much more likely to finish it. This is due to a psychological phenomenon called the Zeigarnik effect, which says that unfinished tasks are more likely to get stuck in your memory. (This is also why our mind gets stuck in a loop thinking about all the things we haven’t yet completed.) Remember: Small action is still action. Five minutes can make all the difference.

4. Do a Power Hour.

A Power Hour consists of putting away all distractions and working in concentrated chunks of time (to begin with I suggest no more than twenty minute intervals) followed by short periods of rest, in order to harness the optimal performance of your brain and body.

Science has discovered that our brain naturally goes through cycles with peaks and valleys. To maximize your output, it is vital that you honor these peaks and valleys by balancing concentrated, focused time with relaxation and integration.

5. Kill It With Kindness.

Research shows that the more you can forgive yourself for past procrastination, the more likely you are to overcome your current procrastination and take action. Practice self-compassion when thinking of your past experience procrastinating.

6. Have a Procrastination Power Song.

Pick a song that really gets you energized, and play it whenever you want to tackle something you’ve been procrastinating. The brain likes to have a trigger to create a new habit, plus you’re more likely to follow through when you’re feeling good in your body.

7. Get under the hood.

Sometimes, it can be helpful to understand exactly why you’ve been procrastinating a specific task. Are you afraid of something? Maybe you feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Fill in the sentence; “I’m avoiding this task because…” or “I’m avoiding this task because I’m afraid that….” And see what shows up. Identifying your fears can help you realize the monsters in the closet aren’t as bad as you think.

8. Let It Go.

Most people put way too much on their To Do list. One way to stop procrastinating something is to decide you’re never going to do it. What can you take off your to do list? Try crossing something off your list simply because you realize you don’t really need to do that thing...ever. Give yourself permission to let it go.

9. Make a bet.

It can be very helpful to have an accountability buddy. One fun way to take this a step further is to have a bet with your buddy. Choose a day and time within the next week that you will complete this task and then tell your friend or colleague; “I’ll give you $10 / take you out to lunch / buy you coffee / watch that awful movie you’ve been wanting to see / etc. if I haven’t completed this task by next Wednesday at 10:00am.” Give your accountability buddy a date and time within the next week and tell them in order to redeem the agreed upon prize, they must check in with you at that appointed day and time. If you haven’t completed your task by then…you owe them whatever you bet!

10. Make it fun.

Another way to motivate yourself to complete a task is to create a reward that you will give yourself once it’s been completed. What can you treat yourself to once you’ve finished this task? Research shows the human brain responds to reward stimulus and this can be a good way to create habits.
