Identifying whether a coin is a solid or a shitty one can be done from just looking at the white paper , if you find garbage there , there's a high chance that everything else related to it will have the same nature .

If everything looks normal and there's consistency behind the ideas , thoughts and speculations you should move to the road map and try to simulate what will happen at each phase and compare it to what's happening with other altcoins that has been launched and are already in the scene , with a bit of logic and experience you'll be having a 80% accurate judgment .

Every thing still looks solid ? Move on to the forums and crypto related news providers , if there's a lot of importance given to that particular coin and it's getting talked about everywhere , then the hype is on and you should get some . If there ain't enough attention , putting a few bucks at it won't hurt , and further evaluation of the market can be done in order to know whether to buy more or not .

The whole process won't take more than an hour to realize and even if you end up not investing , you'll gain experience out of it and develop an aptitude to recognize a good/shitty coin .

Well, it's interesting of course, there are some wholesome moments in the video. However, I often lean on intuition and various positive moments of the particular coin at the beginning.

Looking for event calendars if of course nice, since people act a lot on news. Actually they act before the event take place, since on crypto everyone seems to be following the rule buy the rumors sell the news. An obvious demonstration of that principle has been seen with a lot of crypto, like in the BTC forks, or the exchange bans, or the futures arriving. The price was always already capitalized on the rumors, and then when the since actually happened, nothing really changed. We can't also forget about inside trading, that is true all over the world, but it's much easier to do on crypto. Recent examples of that, where the bcash being added to coinbase, and now the south korea fud.

So yes, I would say that "trading the news" is a key aspect in crypto trading.

Sometimes, news about the token or coin works but not all the time. When I plan to buy a coin or a token, I look at the RSI, so it will show you if the coin/token is already oversold or overbought. If its oversold, that's a good time to buy, because the price already dropped as a lot of holders already dumped the coin and it may have a chance to recover a little.

I am really basing on news since I am new in cryptocurrency and I don't know anything about Technical Analysis or TA, I am relying only on news. But I have a group chat in which people in there are doing TA's and I am just riding all through out in order to win trades.

And another reason of coins to buy, is when I am finding something that caught my attention. Just like, favorite coins. I love, centra. I love scalping in centra. That's how.

Hi everyone! I wonder which methods you use when selecting altcoins to invest in? Do you look at event calendars? I usually take 5 steps before buying a coin and made a video about it: https://youtu.be/KVxlki3Qr4g
Let me know what you think, have I missed something?

p.s. i also usually look at the coin's telegram, but forgot to mention it in the video

Well looking at a coin's future events means that that coin has a clear roadmap of where it wants to be, so that's one of the good signs to look for when investing in an alt. Also read read and read about the team behind it.

Trading the news? Of course not.. I am in multiple telegram groups with some of my friends, most of them have valuable information about altcoins and we usually invest on the same altcoin all the time.
But no, following calendars? There isn't any calendars for cryptos as far as i know..

The method of trading the news is very effective some times but the best approach is to do your research and base in your research you should invest and have a target for tradijg to bitcoin back or continue to hold bitcoin as a strategy!
You can only make a sensible decision regarding to that of buying of any kind of coin amongst all the coins which are there in the world of crypto currency when you will study about all the coins in detail and will chose the best possible coin. However, it all depends on the individual who is busy in trading like which method and technique he uses in order to make money in trading.
Knowledge about the coin that you are eyeing to have is one of the key factor to choose the right coin, so how we are able to do  that? By choosing the right coin study about all things that were related to it from the simple searching the dev and teams behind it, as well as the whitepaper so we would know their action plan. Majority of people have no knowledge of the market economics and it would fall for all of those who don't know what they're doing to lose all their investment so be vigilant always.

also event tho , i use that to buy that coin but just for short term
Yes you are right before buying coins you need to take a look on their plans asking some questions about their project is really helpful for you to predict weather it is good coin or bad coin. You can join their telegram, their social media where you can be updated about their project. All of ways for you to know about their project is there all you need to do is become responsible on what coins will you going to hold. Be wise and be careful about choosing a coins for you to hold.

I also look at what is my reason for buying in.  Is it a project I feel passionate about and with keep a long time.  Is this something that will be medium or would this be something as a short term investment to make a quick buck.
If you have some good knowledge about the things which are related to that of crypto coins, then it will be really very much easy thing for you to choose one of the best coins which are there in the world of cryptocurrency. The best thing which can help you in buying the best coin is studying about all the top rated coins and then choosing anyone of them based on your own needs and wants.
yes this is true that if you may have some knowledge about the coin that you may be chosen for or on how you may able to decide what coin are you willing to buy for using some method are good also but the common thing are mostly about how you may able to have the chance of choosing whtat coin are you willing to take the risk of.

This is really very important point which coin to buy and when to buy?

I generally read experts opinion on trading on daily basis but I don't take more risk on only experts advise. I always invest 50% in BTC & 50% in Altcoins. Altcoins, I decide on marketing campaign  of the coin community.

The events in the development of your chosen coins or project must necessarily follow. This depends primarily on your profit. And the more interesting project or coin is, the more time should be given to monitoring its development.

Reading news regarding trading with a reliable source is one thing that we should do and not just monitoring the movement of price of each coin. Coin should be study if it has the potential to increase its value in order to avoid being burned in the future. Bitcoin, ethereum, XRP and litecoin are coins which have proofs of having potential of increasing value in the future and there are some coins that keep on proving itself.

The first thing I check on a certain coins is its whitepaper. If the whitepaper isn't consisted of too much jargon and flowery words, I consider taking a look on the coin's roadmap/event calendar. Afterwards, I check whether there is a strong user base for the said coin and if the devs are really working on the coin's development. Next, I try to check what news are surrounding that certain coin. If there's enough hype, I'll buy, but if there isn't, I'll still buy though at small quantities.
Exactly, the whitepaper will tell us the probability of that certain coin for us to gain profit, so we need to know those strategies and calculation if it can really lasts of will just disappear after gaining and digging our investment, but if I were you buy coins for those that is already existing especially those already in the list of top 10.
