I've been investing in cryptocurrency since the end of may and I find it hard to keep track of all the cryptocurrency I'm investing in. Right now, I'm using blockofolio, an application for on your smartphone, but I'm looking for a computer programme in which I can also see how much net earnings I make, which is something I can't see in blockofolio. I don't really know how to make this in excel myself, so what do you guys use to keep track of it all?
You do not have to be an expert in excel to make use of it, it just depends on how often you wan to make an evaluation of your portfolio, I write everything that I buy the price on bitcoin and the price of dollars and then once a month or two I just check all my holdings and see if I have won money, obviously I check the price more frequently but I only update my spreadsheet once a month or even less than that.

To track your investments you better use any stock market tracking software or apps where you just need to change the stocks name with the cryptocurrency name and believe me you can do this way because it's just for your personal use and even i try to follow this method and i use Jstock software, which is an Indian stock market investment tracking software where each and every investment can be tracked which we input over there for once. And other than this you can also track using Microsoft Excel or google online spreadsheets which has to be maintained manually, but this one is also a great option if you are tracking some big portfolio and even i follow this as a backup option.

I am marking all my investments on Blockfolio, a great free app which tells me in every moment what I have and how much it is worth. Even though in day like yesterday it can turn out quite traumatizing..

I'm looking for a google spreadsheet to keep track of my coins. I found few online that are quite good but each one is missing something that I want to use.
I need to have multiple currencies  (eg. USD and GBP, USD and EUR, etc), the price of the coins updated (using API or something), my transaction with the actual price I paid + gain and loss column. A very good surplus would be some pie chart with % of the coins owned, etc.

I fund at least 3 good google spreadsheet that I could use, but each of them is missing one of my needed features while having the others. I'm not so skilled to do a new one by myself nor mix and match the existing.
Can anyone link to some spreadsheet?

Are there programs where you could put in your wallet history such as buy/sell and similar and then it automatically tracks your capital gains or losses etc?

When you people mention google spreadsheet, you mean there is one out there that has what price you bought it and how much etc?  Or you mean just create one yourself?

I wrote my own fiat/crypto/precious metals tracker in PHP/mysql. I made it for my own purpose.
I preffer to write something once, and don't waste time later on to update rates in Excel, everytime.
When it was ready, I placed it on the server for everybody: https://assetbalance.info. You are welcome to use it.

Here's the excel file I made a few weeks ago, it's an improvement on one someone else had made... Each time I make a transaction I just enter the data into the yellow highlighted areas and I update current price in the summary tab. I have a tab for each of the 3 currencies I own. It has some random data in there right now, you can delete it and enter your own.

When I started off trading, I was faced with this same issue of keeping tabs with investments.
There's an app called Blockfolio It helps you track your portfolio and see the current details of any of your token/coin.
It offers a very nice design and functionality.

im using blockfolio app to track my porfolio so i can see if i gain or loss this app really help me to manage my porfolio  thanks yo the creator of this its helps alot  i already rate it to 5star

This is what im using after all this time on which i do make track of my altcoin holdings thru blockfolio app which i can anytime see or actively check the prices of it on where it do help me to decide if its time to sell or buy but the downside is not all coins is being listed too fast on blockfolio on which you would really need to list it up either on a notepad or an excel (depending on the things that suits you).

If you really want buying a lot of different coins use only exel because it is the best program for this

But i propose you focus only on few coins because it give you more reliable control

I'm not sure if working with so many coins, tokens and assets that you would need any tracking help is really good idea. If you focus on only 3-4 coins, it's easy to calculate the profits yourself, if you buy blindly 100 tokens, I doubt that without any research you can even expect any profit, so yeah, maybe in that case it is better to find yourself a tool to keep track of all these losses.

I'm always on pc so I just look on coinmarketcap if one of my coins is already pumping. I think I don't need to check my portfolio everytime if they aren' t pumping.
But you need to look at the chart of your respective coins continuously to figure out in which phase they are currently residing. It is mandatory to keep a good check on the prices and fluctuations exhibited by your coin for trading them at right time and enjoying profit with them. All coins are not meant for long term investment such as most of the altcoins, so you cannot leave them in wallets without paying attention to their market prices.

Legendary Escrow Service - Tip Jar in Profile
Excel is your friend. Noting down which investment, which wallet or exchange and so on.

Honestly I am as an escrow are often highly astonished when people get back to me a year after a coin died and I initiated a refund. It feels like they do not care about their coins at all.

I have been using Conicap.io but it lacks so many tokens - i will try blockfolio now - thanks for the tip.
What we really need is something that is tied to balances in different places as I am always swopping things out and then have to do long audit of tokens again - but of course that would introduce another attack vector.

I need one where u don't have to put in the BUY in price of the cryptocurrencies

the gain I made is not interesting for me - only what the Portfolio is worth now

In this case I suggest you to use https://coin.fyi/

Clean interface, easy to use and mostly focused on your portfolio overall. It's the better website if you are more of a holder than a trader.

I really like the simplicity of it - that's all I was asking for - embedding the google trends is neat as well
Thanks for that

As another user mentioned Google Spreadsheet works really well. I enjoy it because it is basically a cloud based excel spreadsheet.

What I like about using Google is not only can you share the file with someone and choose permissions, but it keeps a log of changes. This is very useful when you're trying to remember where you left off on your accounting.

Wow I just downloaded blockofolio and it's very impressive it has so many coins. It says over 800 coins. It's nice to have and over view your collection and see it's totally worth. There graphs and charts and the current value and everything. It's brilliant. I'm so glad I read this thread and found that app it's incredibly helpful thank you.

This is a great share! Thank you!

But aren't you worried about a third party site knowing the details of your holdings? They could also know where you keep your stash. I'm not against technology or anything but for something that's meant to provide you with more control and privacy this seems like a challenging compromise.

How about https://altpocket.io ?

I like it because they allow you to import your whole buy and sell history from Poloniex and Bittrex (via API) to see how much you profited with each trade.

You will see in "active investments" all the coins you only bought and at sold investments your profit/loss for every buy-sell trade you do.

e.g: I bought 50 LTC at 0.01798 and sold the next day at 0.0185; I will see at "Sold Investments" that I made a profit of 0.026 BTC or x% with this trade + my all time profit/loss and net worth.

Use excel dude, it may seem hard at first but the time you invest in it is well worth your time, you can keep track of anything that requires basic math and that needs to be done fast, that is the way you can keep track of your investment in the easiest way since you can make any calculation that you can imagine there instead of being limited by an app.
But the thing is, using excel doesn't seem to have any advantages for me over using blockofolio right now. Are there any tutorials on how to implement a live tracker of cryptocurrency in Excel?

Man you're basically asking for a crash course in Excel programming Smiley

I use blockfolio app. I just put search there the crypto that i have and put the number of my holdings then i can monitor its price anytime i want. I can see how my holdings increases and decreases with the use of that app.
Blockfolio has one disadvantage - when you sell any altcoins the btc value doesn't automatically add to your btc balance and you have to do it manually. Also I find it hard to keep notes regarding what wallet has what in it.
Yeah, I've got the same problem with Blockofolio. They should add that option in the future.

You can easily make a new Google Spreadsheet and keep track of everything on there. It is pretty much a free version of Excel spreadsheet, it is online and can be accessed from any device. It is linked to your gmail account.

Just put how much you buy it for, where from, the quantity and the date and what crypto it was and the fee.

Once you make some calcultions and drag it down you can go on forever with it and add to it as you go.

I need to check this up .Thanks !

I know your pain, i have no idea what i have left in old wallets and where are they...
I lost track long ago, one day i will search to find them all like pokemon's Wink
For starters use a desktop pc and not a smart phone to help organise your stuff easily and if it helps you can tabulate everything to serve as a reminder using word or excel

We are both old school mate. LOL. I also find Excel spreadsheet very simple and easy to used specially in tracking my investment portfolio. You just have to understand some basic and of course the formula. I'm pretty sure some members will bash us saying that Excel is not safe etc. etc. ( I was bashed once for using Excel to put my passwords and seeds and private keys saying its not good. But to each its own). I also used Excel to track my offline business profits and other info as well.

Yeah, spreadsheets work best. The allow you to maintain full control of your numbers...keeps it all in the spirit of Bitcoin, no?

I've been buys, gain/loss value, gain/loss %, average cost, current value and this works across all crypto currencies. I also include a single cell for the Bitcoin price, I can update that and see my numbers update dynamically. It's fairly useful as Bitcoin's price to fiat can change so much from hour to hour and day to day.
