Announcing MyEtherWallet v3.24.00: Difficulty Bomb&Updating blockchain

Due to the complexity of the Bomb and the increased risk of hacking, we pushed a rather drastic update that implements a number of changes and improvements, including enhancement of efficiency and scalability of the blockchain, acceleration of transaction speed, and additional security in the form new formats private keys which will help protect users against hacking.
If you are using private key or UTC, then you need to go into the wallet and update manually, otherwise they risk being unprotected.

How do i update my Ethereum wallet?

1. Go to our website MyEtherWallet.com
2. Unlock your wallet using your Keystore File (UTC / JSON) or simply use your private key.
3. Click Unlock and wait for the update.

Please note that you need to manually update your wallet, failure to do so may result in funds being lost.

We are taking these measures to protect both you and our network from phishing and malicious attacks.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
MyEtherWallet Security Team.

If you use other methods, then ignore this message.

I told a lot of friends that they don't understand the cryptocurrency. I usually explain this, "Money in the Internet"!

I think for me is to just educate them and then let them decide wether they are willing to invest into bitcoin or not. However if I am going to explain bitcoin to them I would start with showing them proofs of my earnings with cryptocurrencies..

Since majority of people still doesn't know about bitcoin, how can you educate them?
And after you educate them, how do you encourage them to invest or use it since this is the future - digital currency?
For me encourage people are not that good cause if the coin will go down they will blame you about this so it must be their decision but what about education for me the best will be youtube cause there are many videos were people are trying to explain crypto in the easiest way and that will be the best method to show them our world.

How? You DON'T. Don't encourage people to invest in bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general, possibly even making promises that it will multiply in the future. Take note that while it can multiply multiple times in the future, it can also lose it's value by possibly tenfold. Never ever encourage people to invest in a highly speculative asset. Just tell them the advantages of bitcoin and it's characteristics and that's pretty much it. You don't need to shove it down their throats like how most ponzi schemes do.

Thank you. Maybe "encourage" is not the right word.
Telling them the advantages of it is enough Smiley

To be honest, whenever I try to explain Bitcoin and any cryptocurrency to someone, I tried to start with the basics and focus on the difference of money from the centralised system and decentralized system. It was very surprising to me that most of the people didn't have an idea about how money works so I believe focusing on fundamentals helps us to explain cryptocurrencies to anyone.

I don't want to encourage people to invest in bitcoin. If anyone ask me about bitcoin, i will explain it to them, but to encourage people to put their money into bitcoin, why would i do that. It is a big risk and big responsible too. Because we never know wether they earn profits or lose their money instead. If they lose their money, you will be responsible automatically. And that is the kind of risk i don't want to take.

As if everyone can be just curious but not determined. Forcing yourself encouraging people to invest with such a roller-coaster like currency, that will surely make them hate you or agree with you in respect to what bitcoin have already gave them.

If you want to do this right, you'll constantly be saying "This is not financial advice, don't invest more than you can afford to lose."

The best thing you can do is spark and possibly stoke their own interest, and most people just aren't interested.

I like to introduce it by asking a few questions.

How did the invention of money change the world?
How did the internet change the world?
Would you agree that the internet is a baby compared to how long humans have been walking around?
How often do you use cash? I know I do at the bar.

Then I say something like Bitcoin is Internet times Money. A software upgrade, since your money is basically digits on a screen anyway.

Thank you for making me understand more about bitcoin and why not let more people get into it.

Take note that I didn't mean that you should stop spreading bitcoin to the masses though; spreading what bitcoin is and it's goals is definitely the way to go. The more people who know bitcoin, the better. But please speak about bitcoin about it's tech as a currency, NOT as an investment.

good sir. Reading your comment even made me think twice entering the industry now. But I think considering the rule of thumb that you do not heed advices from anyone I think the ones you said and the ones who agreed to you are correct sir. Thank you for making me understand more about bitcoin and why not let more people get into it.

Are you planning to introduce bitcoin and encourage those people that will listen to you to start investing to bitcoin. If someone is really interested of knowing about bitcoin, there's a lot of guidelines that you can google.

What if you have used wrong words of educating and encouraging them then the market suddenly fall? this is base on my experience but I'm glad that I didn't encouraged them.

If you don't know anything, you can't teach anything therefore you have to learn it yourself first. Judging from your question, you still lack knowledge, you should be able to answer your question once you've done that - to know the right approach.

mjglqw is absolutly right. Why do you want to convince people that they should invest in a high risk market like cryptocurrencies? Most of them are going to lose a lot of money and they will blame you for that losses.
