We all know it sucks right now (really badly) with the market being in it's present condition. Many scammers reaped in their rewards in the bull run and it's created a negative perception in the market where most are just awaiting another bull run so they can sell.

However, a lot of companies in the crypto space are actually creating genuine products/services that have tangible use cases and are solving real world problems, it almost seems unfair that they can't reach token sales because of the current climate of the market.

What advice do you have on how to market effectively to raise money for ICOs given the present market conditions without spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on advertising**? For example: are there are websites that convert particularly well? I know CoinMarketCap gets a lot of traffic, but apparently it's not the best for conversions.

(**I mean aside from the usual: strong team, strong white paper, good website, telegram community etc.)

Its really a bad time to raise funds in the ICO market considering the current status of the market just like you have rightly noted and its not about crypto alone as I could remember during the downturn in the stock market companies stayed away from raising funds as its already projected that it will fail drastically and that comes at an high costs on the part of underwriters just like companies consider alternatives or go extra mile to raise fund in the stock market, so also projects can consider.

Like they say, "desperate times demand desperate measures". In all of these uncertainties, project are still getting funded to the maximum but it means more effort needs to be put in to achieve the expected return. Its means as a matter of fact, I need to be double sure that a project is workable for me to get my satoshi. The team must be topnotch no iota of moral latitude must be established no matter how minute and above all deliver on promises made.

there's no way around it. the hype is dead. it's a bad time for public fundraising.

if it were me, i'd either try to do a private investment round, or weather the storm and wait for better times before doing a pubic ICO. there's no magic answer here when altcoins and tokens are in the throws of a bear market. advertising right now is such a tossup with investor interest at all-time lows.

Factor into this that almost any investor - individual or these popular pooled investment groups cropping up - got or is getting into ICOs as speculators and you end up with the same conclusion that token sales are pretty much low targets in this market. People investing with the main Bitcoin/Ether currencies don't feel they're getting goof value, so the only ones really keen are those token holders (so ICOs based on other platforms maybe) or those with fiat to invest.

Great idea? Working product just seeking to expand? What is attractive in a normal business world won't appeal to crowdfund crypto investors making decisions purely based on token economics.

You could have a token that gave dead bald men a full head of hair and a giant boner and no one would care.

It's an object lesson in how utterly empty the whole thing is. No one knew or cared what these ICOs actually did, if anything at all, all they wanted was to sell it for more than they paid for it.

Now that possibility is gone so is everything else.

I agree with this one. Investors are just fed up with the current state of the market so all you can do right now is to wait for the storm to calm and when there's already a ray of sunshine, you can hope for the best that investors would be interested in ICOs again. 2017 has been a good year for them and during this year, many of them have been hit hard and maybe some even left the cryptocurrency market for good.

I absolutely agree with what figment's just said. The price of all crypto has been plunging for the last few months, scam ICOs as well as government warnings have eroded investor confidence, and just the fact that we're in a bear market dissuades investors from investing into an ICO. You may very well have a viable idea that has a use, but it's simply not a great time to be advertising ICOs at this point in time.

Well if you really wanted to be successful in this current state of the market then you should spend heavily in advertising. Your idea may be good and all but still, investors would be less interested in it given that we are still in a bear market. One of the things that attract attention to investors are those projects that is backed by a successful company so if you want to take their attention then better find a company that has a good track record and then market it.

You can only do this by advertising about your project because people will invest only on the projects if they know about them.Your project is unigue then people will invest on it if the market is bad but later again they will dump their coins when your token listed on exchange so solution for this is we need to educate the people about investing on the projects and need to support it all the way to success to make maximum benefits.

Public fund raising via crowd sale and pre sale time are much eassential for the investors to boom their token to ICO hard cap after it. Then on bear market time we may expect the growth after sometime.
You will be find the profit for sure. If you hodl the fund in your wallet.

People need icos that there can trust and in this bear market I have seeing how some projects are raising good fund for there projects.  Airdrop, bitcointalk forum and email marketing need are some of the ways you can market your project for investors in the bearish market.

If you really have very good project with good concept then i think you dont have to worry about ICO investment from investors. Advertising is the best way of advertising your project, without it is useless to go for any community or other source to get investment to your project.

You can see the past projects which got huge investment due to their project development and good advertising.
