How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

You can’t up your merits by the number of posts but you can up it by your quality posts. You don’t need to post much to get merited. A user with less quality post may have to post up to 100 or more before they get merited because only one of those post maybe be worth meriting while another user with just few posts can get as much merit than you can’t imagine, so have a rethink of how you view the merit system because it doesn’t work that way. You should focus more on building yourself to be better in the forum with quality posts and not get disturbed about merits, they will come once your quality post is worthy of them.

Basically, merit is given to quality posts that are worthy of getting the merit itself, which is usually quality posts that are useful, full of the latest or updated information, and have many benefits for users, especially on this forum. For an example of a post that is quality and useful for many users, you can see @TryNinja's post [TELEGRAM]Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT. From the post, you can certainly conclude how useful the post is, not only does it contain important information but it also has a function to help users in this forum to get easier access, and that is why in just one post, he can get a lot of Merit.

The name itself says 'merit' and its meaning is clear: Merit refers to the quality or action by which a person is worthy of recognition, respect, award, or reward. Basically, it is what makes someone deserving of something positive. If you haven't received it, it's because you don't deserve it yet. I recommend contributing positively to the forum. It's not a short path, but it's worth taking.

Questions like this is one of reason why you still didn't got merit. Asking about merit is one most frequent question between newbies. You didn't bothered to Google it and find answer.
I looked at your post history - you made just 25 posts and almost all of it is just simple one liners. So far you haven't posted merit worthy content.

Patience is a virtue, get it and apply wisdom in all you do. Ensure to take your time to be highly creative and outstanding in your posts. Don't just write because you want to increase your posts or activities daily. Take your time to pounder over what you want to post and ensure it is captivating and creative before making the post. You can also check for ongoing competitions and quiz and partake. By this these you will have the opportunity to get at least one merit from the organizers of the competitions or quiz. But in all ensure you exercise patience and creativity in what you do. You can read articles and magazines to be more exposed and increase your knowledge so as to be more creative.

One can have 1000 merits with just one post, life is unfair buddy. Tongue

How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

I just checked your history and all of the posts you created are oneliner and generic those kinds of posts are usually ignored by other users while scrolling in the discussion so if you want to have merits under your profile then concentrate on quality rather than quantity then sooner or later your contribution will be recognized by fellow members and may be rewarded with merits too.

The number of merits does NOT directly correlate with the number of posts. Moreover, for one post you can get 1+ merits, and for another (tens, hundreds, thousands) - none.

Here is the answer to your question, which is in the your title.- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.59154903

Looking ahead (or back to the past), my starting point was merit-source, which gave me hope that it was possible to achieve a higher rank. I admit that at that moment it seemed impossible to me and I had no motivation at all. I feel that you are also confused and don't understand how to progress further.

Specifically for this post, I can say that you should stop comparing yourself (and your results) with others and focus only on your actions. Just read other people's interesting comments, communicate and one day the merits will catch up with you.

Merit is like social praise from other members for quality posts and participation. The more you add quality posts and topics to the forum, the more likely members will share some merit love with you.

Hey newbie homies, let's learn together in this forum. As far as I know you have to make a contribution, make something interesting, make something useful just to get merit, that's all.

In one of the threads pinned on the local board in Bahasa Indonesia, several users offer tips on how to increase rank and get merit bonuses (you can learn the tips by using a machine translator).

I'm there right now, still on page 10 reading from the first page, hoping to get something useful.

Merit is not based on the number of posts.

Look at some of the following members, who are still ranked newbies even though their number of activities has fulfilled one of the requirements to become Legendary;

In your opinion, what is the reason why the two users above are still newbies?

If you want to up your merit, the first thing you need is upping your post quality, but not upping your post counts.

Merit system was launched to control spammers, block spammers at low ranks like newbies or Junior members, and to highlight quality posts with merit. If you don't have quality posts, forget about merit.

Welcome message.
Merit & new rank requirements.
Forum rank

When you start out, you are a Newbie, and you will run into various annoying limits. These limits will be reduced to the point where you shouldn't usually notice them after you have participated in the forum for a few weeks. If you are on the forum to talk, then that's all you really need to know about rank. Don't worry about it too much, and you will eventually rank up.

If you want to maximize your rank, then you need to increase two statistics which are listed on your profile:
  • Activity, which is maximized by posting once per day on average. Posting more than that is useless in raising your activity.
  • Merit, which is gained by making good posts.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.
